Ā Ā āKeep that up, and Iāll drop you.ā Yuichiro threatened mildly, cloak fluttering behind him as he ran down the crumbling road.
Ā Ā Ignoring the struggles of the blond child was an easy thing for the immortal - try as the child might, if it came down to a battle of strength, Yuichiro would win every-time. Vampires were near indestructible, and the only thing that could take them down was the cursed gear - but seeing as how this human had oh so conveniently dropped his sword during the ensuing chaos, Yuichiro, could, for the time being, let his guard down. Ferid might have been a lot of things, but his skills in battle were nothing to be scoffed at. If the humans hadnāt retreated as the child had told them to, the other Progenitor would keep them from rushing after the duo.
Ā Ā When Yuichiro couldnāt hear the sounds of metal on metal, or Feridās incessant chatter, he slowed to a stop, still keeping the child clasped firmly in his arms.Ā He looked around for shelter and decided that house across the street would work just fine.Ā The plaster walls were cracked and peeling, the floor strewn with rubble and trash. There were a couple holes in the roof and broken shingles scattered throughout the living room, but the structure appeared fairly sound. Against the wall was a very moldy but remarkably intact yellow sofa, and Yuichiro carefully walked over the uneven floor until he was close enough to plop the child onto its soft surface.
Ā Ā āRelax.ā Yuichiro moved over to stand by the door, deliberately keeping his distance, and resisting the urge to point outthat if heād wanted to bite the child, he couldāve done it a long time ago - when he had lain bleeding out all those years ago, in fact.Ā āI just want to ask you something.ā
Ā Ā Yuichiro could the heat and hot fluids below the childās skin, pumping in time with his heart. He could smell the blood, hear his frantic heartbeat, and his vision went red with hunger, eyes glittering, turning a liquid shade of crimson. The humanās heartbeat was suddenly very loud in his ears; Yuichiro could hear it, pulsing in his wrist, his throat. His stomach felt hollow, empty, reminding him that he hadnāt fed for over several months, and Yuichiro swallowed past a dry throat, pinching the bridge of his nose. It was a good thing he hadnāt been standing so close - even several meters away, the scent of blood hung heavy in the air, practically filling every nook and cranny of the dilapidated shack.
Ā Ā āYou ā¦ā The sigh that left his lips was heavy, the question that he asked even more so.Ā ā ⦠When you were younger, did you ⦠Die? Not like, die die, but did someone hurt you badly? And left you to, you know ⦠Die?ā
The distance was travelled quickly, Mikaela suddenly findinghimself far from his squad, unknowing as to whether they made it out or not,the last heād seen was that⦠that Ferid Bathory, 7th progenitorstalking toward them and an arrow shot where himself and this little troll hadbeen milliseconds prior, Yoichi⦠heād tried⦠heād tried to help him, but therewas very little the sniper could so in such a fast paced situation. Mikaela hadno idea if they escaped, all he knew was that he was in deep shit.
But then the boy put him down, and before Mikaela could lashout at him (albeit knowing he wouldnāt be able to do much) the titch dartedback, putting a good distance between them, honestly if he didnāt know betterheād say the guy was scared of him orsomething, moving back so quickly, putting such a large distance, but thatthreat to drop him, that dry tone of voice, yeah this kid wasnāt even remotelyscared of him.
Especially considering the fact that Mikaela had stupidlydropped his damn sword, Asuramaru would probably be pulling an almighty bitch-fitright now about being dropped. Mikaela would likely suffer that wrath next timehe fell unconscious.
Lovely. Lookin forward to that.
He couldnāt imagine the boy not wanting to hurt him, in factthat was what Mikaela assumed this kid had separated him away from his squad todo, a quick and easy feed for a Cabbage patch kid gone rogue. āIām not tellingyou anything, munchkinā he was actually probably one of the harder nuts tocrack from the moon demon company, hell Guren had made it his mission to teach him how to not give asingle fuck about torture, sure Mikaela wasnāt the roughest looking kid on thesquad, looked like actual Prince Charming from time to time, he was tough, hecould handle whatever this kid threw at him.
Didnāt honestly expect the memory trip though so that threwhim a little.Ā
āI donāt exactly appreciate the trip to memory lane, whatās thatgot to do with you?ā and how the fuck do you even know. Surely that old vampireflick that hinted at mind reading vampires couldnāt actually be accurate could it?
Ā Ā If there was one thing Yuichiro couldnāt stand, it was being mocked about his height ( or lack thereof ). Heād had to endure more than his fair share of taunting from the Seventh progenitor, who had made it a daily routine to mock Yuichiro about his height at least once a day. ( The one time Yuichiro had lost it and had leapt at Ferid with a guttural snarl, the Queen just had to walk by an intervene . . . ) It wasnāt his fault that heād been turned when he was twelve. ( Even as a human child, heād never quite liked the taste of milk. )
Ā Ā āWhoāre you callinā a munchkin, you - you -ā Yuichiro floundered, forgetting his detached manner and concise speaking as he tried to think of a suitable insult to lob back at the human child, anger flaring inside him, eyes burning bright.Ā ā - You damnĀ golden retriever! Iāll have you know that Iām still a growing boy! Not all of us can be bloody telephone poles, you know!ā
Ā Ā A complete and utter lie. Heād been stuck at this measly height of four feet for over several hundred years now. And it most certainly did not help that most - if not all - of the child progenitors were taller than him. Yuichiro, was, by far, the shortest out of all of them, a fact which never ceased to make his blood boil with anger - especially since he couldnāt grow anymore. An eternal twelve year old - with the height of one, to boot.
Ā Ā Ah. Could this child perhaps be the one heād been searching for?
Ā Ā āāItās okay . . .āā Yuichiro muttered distractedly, almost to himself, eyes misting away distantly as he remembered that night - that mad sprint to find a hospital, the terror that had lanced through him at not being able to protect that human child, who probably hadnāt asked for any of the injuries heād received, how sticky his hands had felt, gummy with the dried blood that wasnāt his.Ā āāIāll keep you safe. I wonāt let them hurt you again, I promise.āā
