" I know its frustrating Homie… but we have good things too! What about that lightswitch that turns off all the other lights except the room its in? That's pretty convenient. " There's a new short in the wiring, apparently. Marge for Homer ! :)
{¤} The nagging voices in Homer's head won't leave him alone. You're not good enough. You're a loser. Incompetent. A bum. Marge deserves better. He hears his father one moment, Patty and Selma the next. Soon, it just turns into an indecipherable cacophony of voices. He'd usually drown them out with beer, but he's trying to cut back on the drinking. He needs to ration his Duff beer to make it until payday.
The sweet sound of Marge's voice pulls Homer right back into reality. She's always been able to see the good in everything, even when it's undeserved. It's like she's determined to handcraft her own happiness somehow. He wishes he could have that much hope.
Well, they are married. What's his is hers and what's hers is his. Does that mean Marge's hope is technically Homer's? Then again, Homer's issues would also be Marge's under that logic. Not like he does the best job of sparing her from them.
Wait, Marge doesn't mind the faulty wiring? He can get away with not hiring an electrician to fix it! Sure, it'll probably cause problems later...but that's future Homer's problem. Present Homer gets one less thing to worry about—that's a win!
"Yeah! Saves us a trip up and down the stairs!"
Marge's joy is so infectious. If Homer weren't so drained, he'd pick her up and spin her around. Would that be too much? Maybe she'd appreciate some cuddles in bed more. Or would she rather hear Homer directly tell her how much she brightens up his life? No. Words don't feel good enough for Marge. Any idiot can say words. He needs to show her through some grand gesture! But he's already done quite a few grand gestures. Is she already tired of them? Oh! Homer just thought of something—
"That light switch could help set the mood for a romantic night at home! Y'know, once the kids go to bed 'n stuff."
Homer feels like a genius right now. He certainly isn't an actual genius, but he's going to spend the rest of the night riding the high of coming up with that one good idea. {¤}
