I love that this scene was so in character. He was so ready to die for his family. He was tired of seeing everyone dissapearing in front of him and he felt powerless trying to prevent that. He just gave in and accepted he was going to die, but not before putting up some good fight.

gods i love him so much <3 finally he was going to protect his family, which was also a way to put his past behind and make amends with it.
