Artist: Gemini Club
Album: Here We Sit
Tune: "Sparklers"
Lyrics:
I don’t know or understand
you say it’s hard right now.
It’s in my head.
Spending all my time.
Keep you wide awake.
It’s hard to know the ending yet,
because your heart,
right now,
is in my hands.
And it’s all I know,
it’s all I can keep safe.
So drive off the freeway,
that wouldn’t kill you,
it would only ease your worried mind.
And take all your money
I told you to spend it,
you’ll never need anything.
You and I.
Climb every night in your burning tree.
and keep you head up tight
with your broken needs.
And keep your guard up now,
and you’ll only see it’s not the fighting time.
Don’t go retreat.
When you climb every night on your frozen peak,
keep your eyes on mine with your broken needs
and keep your arms up high,
so that I can see the light.
So drive off the freeway,
that wouldn’t kill you,
it would only ease your worried mind.
And take all your money
I told you to spend it,
you’ll never need anything.
You and I.
Waiting on my own,
waiting all this time.
And won’t you tell me what I know,
tell me what I want
and tell that will never change
that will never change
you’ll turn your back again.
Turn your back again.
Never leave me all alone,
leave me like you did
and won’t you tell me what I know
tell me what I want
and tell that will never change
that will never change
you’ll turn your back again.
Turn your back again.
So drive off the freeway,
that wouldn’t kill you,
it would only ease your worried mind.
And take all your money
I told you to spend it,
you’ll never need anything.
You and I.

While I previously posted Bastille's "Pompei" back in May, I could not help but post this acoustic version of the same song that my boyfriend, Brian, shared with me last night. It proves just how fabulous Daniel Smith's voice truly is. For all of you who are going to KTCL 93.3's Not So Silent Night on Dec. 1 here in Denver, I am truly jealous you get to hear not only Bastille, but also Young the Giant, Grouplove, Saints of Valory, New Politics and My Body Sings Electric. It's going to be an amazing show.
Artist: Bastille
Album: Bad Blood
Tune: "Pompei"
Today calls for a classic from Tom Waits. Enjoy peeps.

I failed epically and did not post a Pearl Jam song last week when I had the gift of seeing the band perform live in Dallas at the American Airlines Center. My dear friend, Shana, invited me to be in the GA section with her and we made our way up into the front row during the show. Holy shit, it was amazing.
Not only did Pearl Jam please the crowd with newer songs from Lighting Bolt, including "Sirens," and "Mind Your Manners." They also pleased long-term fans with the likes of "Jeremy," "Better Man," and "Alive."
I have to say, my favorite moment was when the band played a mash-up of "Better Man," and "Runaway." I actually was moved to tears in that moment.
While there would be about a million songs I could post for Pearl Jam - can you believe I've never posted one??!?!?! - I'm choosing their newer song, "Future Days," today to match the calm, snowy morning here in Denver.
Rock on Pearl Jam friends. If you ever get the chance to see the boys live, don't you dare miss it!
Artist: Pearl Jam
Album: Lightening Bolt
Tune: "Future Days"
Lyrics:
If I ever were to lose you I'd surely lose myself
Everything I have found dear I've not found by myself
Try and sometimes you'll succeed To make this man of me
All my stolen missing parts I've no need for anymore
I believe And I believe cause I can see Our future days Days of you and me
Back when I was feeling broken I focused on a prayer
You came deep as any ocean Did something out there hear?
All the complexities and games No one wins but somehow they're still played
All the missing crooked hearts They may die but in us they live on
I believe And I believe cause I can see Our future days Days of you and me
When hurricanes and cyclones raged When winds turned dirt to dust When floods they came or tides they raised Ever closer became us
All the promises at sundown I've meant them like the rest
All the demons used to come round I'm grateful now they've left
So persistent in my ways Hey Angel I am here to stay No resistance, no alarms Please, this is just too good to be gone
I believe And I believe cause I can see Our future days Days of you an me You and me Days,... You and me
