Yes, I know it's not an original duo. I intentionally picked the pair from the guidebook.

The attack, the stormy ocean, amnesia, getting mugged, the guild… a lot happens on the first day, and I wanted to show the emotional toll. Partner (Riolu) is sad because despite finally being on track to achieve his dreams, he worries none of this will last. Hero (Shinx) is sad because despite finally having a place to stay, he only remembers enough to know he doesn't belong here.
