Slider motor kit
The slider motor add on kit is designed for someone who already owns a slider and like to motorise it. We cannot gaurantee that the brackets and pulleys will fit to all types of slider. A list of known compatible sliders are shown below. More will be added as they are known.
The TurnsPro motor provides a continuous rotation, which can smoothly move a camera up to 3 Kg when horizontal. (Note it can not be used on an incline). The kit can be setup within a few mins and is perfect for timelapse, or real time sliding movement.
This motor slider motor motorised slider kit contains:
A TurnsPro : Slider Edition (the slider motor)
Brackets, pulleys, 3D printed belt clamp and belt to attach the TurnsPro to most sliders*
Pulley bracket
TurnsPro bracket
TurnsPro with pulley (slider motor)
3D printed belt clamp, belt, and 3/8 to 1/4 adapters.
The beauty of this kit is that the TurnsPro can also be used separately as camera rotator for panning timelapse.
Component details
TurnsPro : Slider Edition – is used as the slider motor. It can be set with varying rotation times which will change the speed the slider moves. The full specifications for the TurnsPro can be found here.
Brackets – There are two brackets. One which attaches the TurnsPro to the slider and one which attaches a pulley to the slider.
Pulleys – The pulleys are 60 tooth GT2, with a 6.35mm bore. One is mounted directly onto one of the brackets and is free rotating. The other is secured to the 1/4 UNC thread on the top of TurnsPro, and fastened in place using the grub screw provided.
Belt – The GT2 timing belt is 5m long and can be cut to length depending on the length of slider it is being used with.
3D printed belt clamp – The clamp is secured onto the slider carriage (the moving part) using a supplied 1/4 UNC 20 bolt. It holds the two ends of the belt in place.
3/8 to 1/4 adapters – Some sliders are designed with 3/8″ holes, rather than 1/4″, we supply these adapters to ensure you can get up and running straight away with the brackets and the clamp.
How to set it up
We have created a video which shows how to use this kit with a common style of slider. Other setups will vary with other sliders. The brackets may need to be mounted sideways, or upside down.
It is important not to tension the belt too much, otherwise this will cause excessive strain on the TurnsPro motor, which will cause it to not provide a smooth motion.
Slider compatibility
*There are several types of slider available. This kit is known to be compatible with the following:
TurnsPro slider
Neewer carbon fiber slider
