she holds back a scoff, not wanting to give him even the SATISFACTION of a reaction from her part.

instead, she nods to herself, and the soft rustling of sheets comes next. ❝ okay, then. ❞

she comes closer, chest faintly pressed against his back. her hand ghosts on his side, brushing faintly against his hip as she moves. she is undeniably close, and yet, SHE'S DEAD SILENT. far from the loud sleeper turo had known, for the noise came from comfort and a feeling of safety, even the snoring. but now, you couldn't even hear her breath.

BUT SHE'S UNDENIABLY THERE, undeniably close. she chuckles softly. ❝ your ex sounds like a PILL, if a bad back's worth complainin'. ❞ maybe she hadn't gone through what she did.

‘ Better? ’ The snarky comment thankfully didn’t leave his thoughts. This was…much closer then he imagined. When the bed shifted so did the temperature around him. The shuttering cold from the steel walls around them ebbed away with their bodies so close now. The occasional cold shutter stopped….as was her silhouette pressing against his back, he noticed. The brush of hands against his hip was faint but caught.

…He’d much prefer her snoring right about now. The silence felt louder. Not a second sooner did Sada speak up. Thank goodness.

“ Hm. Ask her yourself. ” Turo points over his slumped shoulder to the opposite side of the room. A large off computer monitor shared her reflection from its glass.

The silence of the room was a bit more defeaning. Were the labs always this hollow? Was the low hum of electricity this droning before? The cool air coming from metal surfaces made him shutter. How did he-…they, find Paradise in this glorified cell?

Her comment snapped him from his thought spiral. From across he stares back.

“ Because I’m always right. ” He thinks so anyways. Whatever happened to sleep, Sada? “ Like how I know you’ll fall off the second you start kicking around in your sleep. If you’re going to occupy my space you should at least take advantage of it. ”

❝ tell that to the formula you missed that almost BLEW UP THE PLACE. ❞ hadn't she caught it. she doesn't even know why she entertains him; he knows just as much as her that the following day, HE caught one of her very rare SCREW-UPS.

“ Did you hear me add a possessive in my statement? I said ‘the lab’ without mentioning property. But I will infer it’s OUR timeline-its YOUR time stamp. We’re in the same stream, it’s not an alternative dimension. We had this conversation before.” Still makes him her (ex)husband of their lab.

HER PILLOW HITS HIM IN THE FACE. clearly not with the intention to hurt, but to get the message across. there's a heavy huff from her part as she places her pillow back under her head.

her body is SO CLOSE to the edge of the bed, she could fall off at any moment. nothing about her position seemed comfortable: her hands tucked under her pillow, the covers barely covering her frame, the COLD AIR of the laboratory lapping at her exposed skin. the silence is just as chilling as the gaping space between them.

❝ —always had to be a fuckin' know-it-all, ❞ she mumbles under her breath, turning in the bed. yet, somehow, SHE HAD COME TO MISS EVEN THIS.

that's when their eyes meet.

“ And I could leave if I wanted to. I practically built the lab from the ground up. Your abhorrent caretaking has left many security breaches. I just choose not too because staying in this time stamp with you for longer then necessary is far more miserable. ”

she settles next to him, keeping a conservative distance between them, groaning under her breath as sheets rustle around her. ❝ don't get any wrong ideas. ❞

“ ..? Excuse me?” Did she just…barge in his space? A knock would’ve sufficed at least. This was his was temporary quarters. Emphasis on temporary.

In reality Turo would pace the floors or work to keep up. He hated this space. Barely rested if he had no choice. Especially hated that Sada was making him stay here of all places. Cold, haunting and a constant reminder of disaster. The spot where she died was just a room away and he was paces from his final moments before being pulled here by force.

Kind of wishing he was slaughtered instead -

“ If the other room is unusable and you don’t enjoy my company perhaps it’d be much more comfortable in our actual bedroom. At home. The lighthouse?”

❝ please. don't be so DRAMATIC. ❞ she fluffs her pillow, not even offering him a glance. ❝ it would take me ONE HOUR to go back to the lighthouse, and the only thing i want right now is to SLEEP. ❞

However I can not give proper diagnostics or data based on interest liability in which the example I have just given also accounts for. My thoughts would be biased seeing as you’re my wife.

And no, I can not cure cancer. I’m not in the medical field.” But he sure can give someone a band aid if they need it.
