I want to be wowed. What’s the best book you’ve read in 2026 so far?
Any genre welcome as long as you read it this year and love it!
Some standout replies:
Crater_Caloris: Muñeca by Cynthia Gomez
Mayfair98: I was late to the party and only read I Who Have Never Known Men by Jacqueline Harpman for the first time a couple of weeks ago and it was phenomenal, the kind of book that you just keep thinking about. I know it is not exactly sapphic but I would definitely describe it as queer. It is just around 200 pages and one that you will want to finish in one go.
Triceratons: Hunger Stone - Kat Dunn The descriptions and atmosphere really have you in the book.
Luciddreamer326: I really liked Sweetbitter Song
Bakasana212: Pasha the Storm by Linda Codega - high seas fantasy adventure about a 60 yr old dirtbag pirate who’s press-ganged into the hunt for a supernatural, neceomantic-ish version of Moby Dick’s white whale. A fun, wild ride The Felicity Complex by August Clarke - dystopian sci-fi about a group of sentient robots created to cater to the rich in an underground bunker post-nuclear apocalypse. Funny, weird, irreverent, and pretty gory As You Wake, Break the Shell by Becky Chambers - cozy sci-fi about an intergalactic cowgirl and a medicinal botanist carving out a space for themselves in space. Super sweet and heartwarming (not out til October)
