Three years have passed so fast and here I am. Fourth year with Emirates. Getting kind of tired of everything around me but being proud of working so hard and achieving what I planned. Since the day I started, I tried to see only the good things here. People made fun of me. A lot. Some claimed I didn’t have a life. Some said I was faking. None were true. I had an amazing life. Just like them. The only difference was like I rather stayed blind to the bad things happening in my life.
What happened in these three years? A lot. Super personal to mention them all here. But I had bad stuff going on. Health issues, family issues, friends. I failed, I fell. I managed to stand up though. Dusted myself off and decided to start again. Failed again. Kept staying in this cycle for so long. I’m not out yet. I keep failing. I keep feeling lonely. This job, it indeed is a thing that makes you feel like it’s only you suffering alone. Illusion. You are not the only one. Actually, that’s for you all my crew readers, you have an amazing life. We do have an amazing life. The only problem is, this life is just not permanent. It’s a life that’s not supposed be for a lifetime, if makes sense.
I achieved a lot but didn’t have many people around to share my joy, my pride. I couldn’t call even my mom when I found out that I have been awarded and I was in a totally different time zone. Most people in my life were sleeping. I had to get a cup of tea and I said to myself; “Cheers to many more!” That’s kind of life you get with this job. Is it a bad thing though? Maybe sometimes. But we are here to compromise. We, as human beings, are here to give up on family time in order to earn more. Rule of life. Change it if you can.
So after three years being up and down, today I finally know that I’m not here forever and slowly it’s time to create “a life after a life”. Back again on job applications. Life is weird. Life is full of surprises and sometimes we all just need to loosen up.
Now here is all the joy that I mostly shared only with myself. Today I see nothing wrong by taking pride on the good work you do and inspire people as I have been trying to for the last couple of years. Thank you guys I received hundreds of e-mails keeping me motivated and happy. Sometimes together we have seen people making fun of being dedicated to work but down there you will see what really matters in the end.
Don’t listen to people. You can HAVE a life. The most important thing I have learned from this first contract period is; You don’t need to have the BEST job in the world. Because there is no such thing. There is a dream job only and the goal is to be the BEST in your own world! Hope my three years have inspired you at least a bit.
