I'm feeling nosey, so i am going to give my opinion on something.
Opinion incoming. (NOTE: i am a rather new gorillaz fan. Feel free to correct me on anything)
Let's start with a question:
Or C. should it be shipped at all?
It's complicated. And honestly that's what i like about them.
They are a very interesting duo because of their chemistry. They are often shown together (I am going to ignore the obvious actor limitations and branding and stuff) they have a lot of interaction and most importantly, a lot of bad blood.
Murdoc was incredibly abusive towards 2d. Nothing will erase that. Nothing will excuse that. Yet they stay together, the chemistry remains. Their paths cross eventually. Is this a good thing? I think it depends on how much you believe in giving people second chances.
2d is very forgiving because of his memory problems. This is rather unfortunate. I feel like this hinders him from having a real talk with Murdoc. The other problem is that Murdoc will probably deflect to avoid a confrontation like that. It's a conversation they need to have if they haven't yet.
Murdoc had gone through intense character growth these last years. He was noticeably tamer in phases like humanz, song machine, and the mountain. The only phases that bother me are The Now Now, where he used the #freemurdoc for pity points and cracker island where he treated 2d like shit again. He also stabbed 2d with a needle in song machine.
But something changed in The mountain. Murdoc is still his freaky self, but he seems to be withdrawn. I like how this humanizes him.
Also, a thing that puzzles me is 2d saving Murdoc in song machine. Did he do that out of care? Did Noodle and Russell have a say in it? Or was it some kind of Stockholm syndrome?
I've been yapping too much I'll get to my point.
Should they be endgame? No.
Should they go to therapy together? Yes.
I like them because they're complicated and flawed individuals who have a long history with each other, and they have come to a point where they need to have a long talk and make decisions. I am VERY curious what kind of decisions they'll make. Their relationship is a trainwreck, romantic or not.
This is a ship that needs to be handled delicately and with a lot of care. (This is why i dislike the term darkship or proship cuz i feel like they lack the caution you need for this kind of media)
2d shouldn't be treated like a baby, and Murdoc shouldn't be forgiven so easily.
