Hiatus Notice!
HEY EVERYONE! So, without the show keeping me inspired every week, my muse for Garnet has dwindled. I think it would be best to put her on a hiatus until the show starts back up again, or at least until I’m feeling her a bit more. Anyway, if you’d like to stay in constant with me until I return, message me for my Skype, or follow me on one of my other blogs! Love you guys! I’ll try to come back as soon as I can!

Back in Atmos, crystals were power sources that sent energy coursing through machines and gave them life. They got skimmer flying, blasters shooting, and provided a means of light, heat, cold, & survival.
In this world, it felt like it as safe to assume that they had an entirely different usage and purpose. Aerrow couldn’t help it. He was curious.
“Hey, uh, I know it’s probably weird for me to ask but… I just wanted to ask you about that gem on your hand. Does it… do anything?”
Garnet understand why this boy was asking that question; many others had before him, always about the gem and never about the bigger picture. She was proud to be a gem, to be a fusion, but Garnet also understood why they needed to keep that a secret. Still, since he was asking–
“ You’re asking the wrong question. I am this gem; what you’re seeing is just a projection. ”
He was obviously not from this world; she could sense that much, so she figured bending the rules just a little bit wouldn’t hurt. Holding out her hand, she made it shift into the shape of a hammer to prove her point, before transforming her hand back into its original form.
“ My gem can do many things, and much like you, I’m not from this world either. ”
I’ve been so addicted to this show, and seeing as I run a Garnet RP blog as well, I figured making an FC for the Crystal gems would be fitting! You’ll notice I don’t include steven, and that’s because personally I am unsure of what a good POC FC for him would be! If I ever do think of one, I’ll update this post. Anyways, let’s go in order of the theme song!
*I also think it would be important to note that I’ve only listed my top choices as well! There are so many wonderful possibilities for each of these characters, so by no means should you take this post as me saying these people are the only FCs I would choose.
GARNET / / DANAI GURIRA
You may recognize Dania from another insanely popular show; The Walking Dead! While Garnet’s VA would be my second choice, for some reason I feel like she shares more similar facial features with Danai! And I might be a little biased, since I’m absolutely in love with her.
AMETHYST / / DENISE BIDOT
Since I know the popular opinion is that Amethyst might be mixed, I thought Denise Bidot would be a good fit! She’s gorgeous and curvy, and she tends to have a spunky attitude, much like a certain other purple gem we know.
Pearl / / Zhou Xun
And last but not least, we have the lovely Zhou Xun! With her angular features and expressive eyes, she was the first person that came to mind for Pearl’s FC.
And that’s it! Feel free to comment or send in other suggestions, since I’m thinking about making a post with lists of FCs that would work for each gem as well. Suggestions for Steven would be wonderful as well!

Looking down at the smaller gem, Garnet let out a low chuckle.
“ Thank you, PEARL.. ”
“Get behind me. And don't think I'm doing this because I suddenly feel like being friends. If anyone gets to kill you, it's going to be me."
“ H m p h ! ”
Jasper better BELIEVE that if Garnet wasn’t in such bad shape she wouldn’t have complied, but the Fusion had no other choice. There were too many of those abominations for her to handle on her own.
“ Fine, but you won’t hear me thanking you. ”

The ocean gem carefully listened to Garnet speak, taking in everything the taller gem said. She was a bit surprised that her ally didn’t hate her for her little fusion adventure – and was even more surprised that she was being comforted for it. It did help, somewhat… she had done it for Steven, and she knew holding herself, Jasper, and Malachite prisoner far beneath the ocean’s shore had prevented at least a little bit of harm from coming to her beach summer fun buddy and the Crystal Gems.
“I– I guess you’re right. But… I don’t think the fact that I did it to help really makes up for how much I hurt myself and Jasper and Malachite. I probably should have found another way —- fusion is meant to help, but it’s built on a foundation of trust and love, isn’t it? And Malachite was just– built on anger and fear and hatred.”
Garnet remained silent as she thought about what Lapis was saying. She was right – fusion was supposed to be built on trust and love, but that wasn’t always the case. Garnet had told her teammates many times that they should fuse only when it was necessary, and she really did mean that. Garnet always stayed as.. well, Garnet because Ruby and Sapphire couldn’t stand to be apart. They were complete polar opposites, but their chemistry was magnetic.
“ Fusion is meant to help, and fusion should be built on a foundation of trust, but fusion should also be used for the greater good. Jasper wanted to fuse only to become stronger – you wanted to fuse to save your friend. If anyone is at fault, it’s Jasper, not you. Our homeworld makes fusion out to be a cheap war tactic, but honestly – it is so much more than that. ”

now she’s pouting. the hit didn’t hurt as much as it could’ve, but it was the emotional scars that mattered.

Garnet’s hands went to rest on her hips. Something wasn’t right about this situation, BUT.. w h a t?
“ No, we DON’T know that. What makes you think that fusing is just a war tactic? If you’ve never fused, than you can N E V E R understand. Being apart just doesn’t feel right. I am more than just two gems fused together. I am their thoughts, their feelings – their LOVE. “

This time Garnet caught the shoe, tossing it up and down with her hand.
“ I thought P A I R S made you ‘ uncomfortable ’ .. ”
Yeah, she was still pretty sour about that, so sour that she decided to chuck the shoe right back at the smaller gem.
“It’s a joke! Whenever you make that face, it’s a joke!”

Also I think Danai Gurira would be an amazing FC for Garnet, but it’s hard to find a lot of images of her not as Michonne, and images where’s she not in front of tons of ads on the red carpet. >.< Maybe one day..
