( ` hoseok is convinced he’s dreaming. it’s been a day or so since this new… development, but for his own sanity, he’s convinced himself that  he’s thinking too much or he’s sleeping. yeah– that must be it. because all had been well, he’d gone about his day as normal, and went home covered in dust and clay spots as always. although, he did happen to stop by a bakery on the way home– he thought nothing of it, still doesn’t suspect it. but here he has woken up with a slight discomfort in his gums, and the odd sensation of his upper teeth just barely pressing against the skin of his bottom lip. he doesn’t think much of it. he goes about his day, but it all comes to when he says hello to his high school employee– who stares at him and claps her hands gleefully: ‘you’ve got the halloween spirit early, mr. jung!’ and he just stares at her, tongue worrying over his slightly sharper canines and giving her an uneasy grimace of a smile. it’s when he heads home that he has the distinct urge to swing by the disney store– where he’s sure baekhyun must be getting off. if anything– he’s sure the fairy would know what to do– he has a calming presence. ) … ( ` he waits until the familiar figure appears form the store front, and today he is a little more wound up, lip jutted out a tiny bit more than his normal pout, and his mouth falls open as he says almost too miserably, mouth parted to bare a hint of his teeth in a clear explanation of why he’s stressed. ) “hello, baek… i need some. help. or advice, or guidance, any of the above will work–”

━━   .☾˟    ( ;  if he’s expecting anyone to be waiting for him outside his store, it’s not eeyore.  it’s not because he doesn’t think that they’re friends, or that he wouldn’t like the store itself - after all, he is a popular character within - but mostly, baekhyun just doesn’t often see him come this way.  he stands there for a moment, looking at him oddly but then finally approaches, noting the odd pout and figuring that something must have gotten him upset.  )   hoseok .. what’s the matter?   ( ;  his head tilts when the other man starts to speak, and it’s pretty obvious that something is going on - after all, eeyore has never had fangs from what the fairy remembers.  it’s odd to him, and he’s not sure how the little stuffed donkey seemed to suddenly grow them out of nowhere - but eeyore looks distressed, and that’s enough to make baekhyun’s heart flutter in worry.  )   oh no .. how did this happen to you, you poor thing -

sehun had been without any fresh meat for a while, and since things were constantly on the rocks with yoona, it was imperative for him to find someone new, without preconceived notions of him, to spend his time with. so he often found himself out and about, wandering into shops of all varieties, look to meet new and exciting people. today, he found himself in a small coffee shop, nice and quaint, and the universe had decided to bless him with the image of a very attractive man up at the counter. he ordered himself a simple coffee before sliding over, leaning on the coffee bar in place next to him, giving him a once over with his wandering eyes before looking back up at him with a smirk. “those jeans were made for you, i swear.”

baekhyun likes the smell of coffee even if he loathes the taste.

oftentimes, since he doesn’t really have anywhere to go home to, he lingers in coffee shops because they make him feel warm.  the smell of fresh brewed coffee always brings him joy, even if the drink is far too bitter for the fairy to enjoy.  he usually just sits with a mug of tea for hours, staring out windows or staring at the baristas making the drinks.  sometimes they’ll have a conversation, other times, he sits in silence.  today is a day that he stands quietly at the countertop since all the stools are taken.  his attention is taken in full by the skilled hands of the baristas, and it’s because of this that he doesn’t notice anyone approach - much less give his body a full once over.  if he had, he would have blushed from his head to his toes.

but by the time that baekhyun realizes that the other man is talking to him, he has to think about this compliment.  it’s a strange one, coming so suddenly.  still, baekhyun smiles warmly with his hands around his mug of tea despite the blinks of awkward confusion.  “ um .. thank you ..?”

twhyunbin‌: 

and hyunbin can feel the reservedness– can sense that the fiary was highly less than thrilled to have him, the boogeyman, roaming in his store in the broad daylight. and of course, given their history– hyunbin does not blame him. knows that the other is rightfully cautious, which is the whole reason he’s decided to finally try and at least… make amends. 

honestly… this is the man that’s become the nightmare fuel and the terrifying incentive for children to behave, but right here in this moment, hyunbin almost sets the plushy down to promptly make his exit.

get it together, hyunbin scolds himself. he is, however, very grateful for his ability to maintain his blank expression in even the most awkward, or nerve-wracking of moments.

he clears his throat, blowing his overgrown bangs out of his eyes as he examines the blue thing with a newfound interest. “…stitch. okay. stitch,” he mutters, glancing around the rest of the store. “i should get a matching set… brighten up our apartment,” he muses, ignoring the irony of his thought process. he blinks in surprise when baekhyun is already off, and he makes work of his long legs to keep up with him. “does stitch have a, partner of some sort? in these movies… characters usually have.. pairs or counterparts right? if i remember… right–” he finishes lamely.

hyunbin blinks at the words directed toward him, almost dropping the soft thing in his hands. “oh, i. …really like cute things,” he’s muttered before he’s even realized, eyes going wide as he resists the urge to slap a hand over his mouth. he clears his throat, praying the other doesn’t turn around and see him fumbling like a huge idiot. “i. … stop by sometimes.”

this is .. more than a little awkward and definitely not what he expected to deal with when he came in to work today.  as the moments pass by, he feels more of a quiet desperation to get this done and over with as quick as possible - the ice that lingers around mister dark all but chills him to the bone.  but baekhyun knew he’d have to face the boogeyman eventually, regardless of whether it be at work or .. sometime in the future.  the far future is what he was hoping for, but hope doesn’t always lead to the things you want.

baekhyun’s struggling between his desire to run and his need to be a good employee - customer service is key in a place like disney, with so many rules and the necessity to make every visit a magical experience for guests who are new or old.  he’s just not so sure he can get kwon hyunbin of all people to leave this store feeling like his wishes were granted. 

maybe if he was someone else.  this just seems like torture for the both of them.

he watches hyunbin for a long moment as he examines the stitch plush with some kind of interest in his eyes.  this wasn’t what he expected of him - though, to be fair, it’s not like baekhyun knew him at all.  he just knows all the things he’s done.  “ you live with someone?” he asks incredulously, surprised that hyunbin managed to get along with anyone that much.  it almost slips past him, the irony - but eventually, baekhyun can’t help but laugh, especially with the boogeyman obviously out of his element here.  “ are you talking about lilo?” he asks with a raised brow.  “ she’s his ohana.  his family.”  baekhyun points a finger to a little lilo doll not far from where they’re standing.  “ that’s her.” 

but there’s more surprise to be had.  it seems that the man, although cold, is quite a bit more .. different .. than he first thought.  “ do you?” baekhyun asks quizzically.  “ like cute things, i mean.”  there’s a long pause, of which a thought whizzes past his mind: i’m cute, too.  he shakes his head and clears the thought away before continuing.  “ is it for the toys?” baekhyun asks blandly, turning to a table to tidy up a display.  or me?

the shock settles on her face quicker than her indignance. she blinks in a quick motion, mouth parting before closing; the action repeats, and she swipes her tongue across her lower lid, hand lifting to her head to scratch it idly. her nose scrunches in thought– unable to pinpoint exactly what the other wants. 

she knows of him, of course; minji makes it her business to know at least one detail about every fable she knows of or comes across– and even if she didn’t, it would be impossible; nearly everyone knows of the fairy godmother (or father, she isn’t too sure on that one). 

“i’ll be honest,” she says slowly, voice lilted in a questioning tone. “you have be a bit…confused. even concerned– what exactly do you mean in the sense of barter? what are the goods and services we’re exchanging?” there’s a playful to to her voice, lips quirking a bit into a wry smile. “if you’re referencing prostitution, then i’m going to stop you right there before you make me happy, good sir.” she says, voice cheery though accentuated quite darkly by the sharpness of her smile. “i’m quite confused. what is it exactly that you want?”

he can tell by the look on her face that she’s offended - not so much in her words, or the way she speaks but more in the way her eyes turn sharp for the barest of seconds as she tries to figure him out.  baekhyun’s request wasn’t really meant to cause a ruckus, and now the idea that he’s caused her harm or unhappiness in some way starts to weigh heavily on him - after all, baekhyun’s a member of the seelie court.  they always make up for their indiscretions.

it’s probably apparent when he starts to speak once more that he’s awkward.  apologetic.  there’s a sheepish smile on his lips and when he looks at her, it’s through his lashes - not quite focused, as if ashamed.

“ i’m - .. n - no, that’s not even what i -” she seems jovial, almost too jovial if you asked baekhyun when the request she’s assuming he’s asking for is not so discreet.  his cheeks turn quite red almost immediately, the embarrassment filling him to the brim to the point he’s almost overflowing with it.  now it’s going to be even more awkward - to explain that when he wants something, he has to give something in return.  it’s already awkward enough that he just wants to sleep in a corner of her casino for the night to stay out of the rain and her smile isn’t looking too ... happy, no matter what her tone may seem like.  “ i .. think i should just go and try my luck elsewhere.”  somewhere where they’ll maybe understand a faerie’s boon. “ i hadn’t meant to upset you, so won’t you accept an apology at least?”

She’s grown fond of being alone. Or, at least, that’s what she’s still trying to tell herself. She isn’t sure whether or not it’s true. Perhaps she’s spent so much time attempting to convince herself of it, that she’s become fooled into believing a lie. Regardless, it matters very little as long as she feels content. Which, at the moment, she does. Though, the second that she finds herself longing for company, she seems to think that maybe she was right about the whole ‘being delusional’ thing, or… whatever. A very gentle sigh parts her lips as her eyes cast to the sky, allowing herself to very briefly get lost within her thoughts…

Until someone joins her, of course. Then, her attention immediately is shifted to the individual beside her, her focus metaphorically wrapping around him tightly and refusing to drift anywhere else. Yeah… she was definitely just tricking herself.

Curious eyes watch and wait for him to speak, and once he does, she finds herself unable to resist the quiet giggles that spill from her lips. “Really? I mean… usually, I make people book an appointment for that kind of thing…” It’s a joke, which is obvious from the twinkle in her eye, though she still can’t help but tease… just a little. In reality, she didn’t mind his request.

in this moment, he decides that he likes her.  she looks at him like she’d rather not have any other company in the world, and it almost surprises him - after all, baekhyun is someone who is losing his purpose.  his role in the story of cinderella has all but dwindled in the past years that she’s been married, but lately now that she’s happier, she’s been needing to call on him less and less.  with a husband to keep her company, a child to take care of, and happiness in the form of an end - no matter if it’s in new york or back home - there’s just no need for a fairy godmother anymore.

so when the mermaid looks at him like he’s the only person in the world, it makes him feel better.  like he has a reason for being here, at least for the moment.

he smiles at her giggles, finding her to be rather cute - but baekhyun was being completely forthright with his question.  “ an appointment?” he asks naively, staring at her with wide eyes.  “ you make appointments to let people see your tail? wow, i should do that with my wings -” he cuts himself off for a moment and then tilts his head - realizing belatedly that she was teasing him.  “ oh, wait - you were joking, weren’t you ..” he sighs a little, but still looks at her hopefully.  “ still though, can i see it? i’ve never seen a mermaid’s tail up close and you’re - .. well.  you’re the mermaid.”

.☾˟    “ ARE WE STILL PRETENDING THAT IT DOESN’T HURT?”

loneliness can make someone do all the things they never thought they would before.  baekhyun knows he is no stranger to the idea, beginning from the friendship he somehow formed with the very last person he ever thought he could forgive.  the boogeyman - azazel, mister dark, kwon hyunbin - is someone he never wanted to share two words with, or at least .. he was.  their awkward moments shared in the disney store while hyunbin followed him around like a lost child only caused baekhyun’s heart to soften.  the boogeyman, perhaps, isn’t as bad as he seems - no matter what he did.  no matter what he caused with his sins.

but things get out of hand so quickly.

this barely there friendship turns to something a little more bold way too quick.  they don’t speak of the past, don’t talk about their hurts or their trials.  it’s because baekhyun sees the way that hyunbin looks at him, as if he’s someone cute - as if he’s someone he wants.  and it’s been so long since baekhyun felt this way; wanted, even by a man whose shadows cling to his skin and make the entire room cold.  baekhyun is warm, hyunbin is not but somehow they’re both drawn to each other like moths to a flame.

it starts off as kisses one day, then it’s something more.  it’s probably baekhyun’s fault, if he’s thinking of it - there’s no reason for his being, but hyunbin wants him.  and baekhyun wants to fill the hole inside of himself that’s so deep he doesn’t know what to do with it.  so kisses turn into baekhyun straddling his lap, turn to fingers in his hair.

kiss swollen lips are parted and he feels the desire burning beneath him, hard against his inner thigh.  hyunbin just looks at him with nervous eyes, as if baekhyun will refuse him this, but it’s not like he hasn’t gotten hard, too.  “ don’t look at me like that.” he mumbles quietly, rocking his hips a little and wrapping his arms around broad shoulders by way of showing hyunbin that he’s into this.  “ let’s -”

they pretend it doesn’t hurt, and maybe if they touch, all will be forgiven.

hyunbin is a generally quiet, isolated soul. ( this is mostly attributed to the fact that he purposely scares everyone away. oh… and the rumor that he eats children of course. ) however… he is blunt. he speaks up when he wants to– contrary to belief he converses and interacts well… with the people he likes at least.

there is one exception however.

and he is looking at him as he stands quietly by a huge wall of tsum tsums. he just… happened to be in the area– picking up some things from the store that were low on stock at the bar. he watches baekhyun as he flits around, tending to child, or parent, or both, after child, aura bright as always. and hyunbin says he was in the area– but maybe the truth is he’s been trying to gather up the courage to apologize. to make amends.

for a long time coming. maybe today… he’s hoping today, he’ll finally make some progress.

hyunbin has always a habit of blending into the shadows, even if there are none quite present, and even with the glamour. he wouldn’t really care for using it– but despite his intimidating demeanor, warning people to stay away– he found that he still draws too much attention with his dark hair colors, his multiple piercings, and his skin littered with swirling ink, ranging from gray hues to splashes of color. and so, like this, in his all black attire, a simple black button up and wide legged slacks, and his pristine black loafers, skin a clear canvas and piercings glamoured away (because he’s too lazy to remove them all)– he at least can blend in a bit better. he’s studied the wall for quite some time before he finally… pulls a large, oval stitch plushie from the shelf.

he makes steady strides over to the fairy, blinking owlishly as he stops in front of him. and for all his bravado– his calm, clear, collected reputation… everything just. shatters. “hey. uh,” he holds out the plushy. “… what’s um. this thing’s… name again…” he finishes lamely. “and… do you have other… sizes of it–”

maybe it’s because they’re so different that he can feel him.

perhaps the boogeyman thinks that lurking behind that wall of tsum tsums has him hidden while baekhyun flutters between child to child, but it doesn’t.  he can still sense him in the room; it’s like the air turns colder and even a store as brightly lit as disney darkens just a little bit.  no one else notices, but no one else has met mister dark.  baekhyun, though, pays him no mind - it’s not like he really knows why the man is here, if only maybe to drain the warmth from this place.  that would be typical of him, extinguishing the light in the brightest places.

baekhyun’s smile doesn’t fade around the children, but he can feel his heart quicken in anticipation.  because even though he can make several thousand guesses, he’s not sure why the man is here - and he’s not sure if he’s going to have to stop him from taking another child in his dark hand.

eventually, though, even though the room is still a little colder with him in it, baekhyun soon pushes him to the back of his mind.  with no real threat so far, it’s not like he has to confront him with anything.  if he just wants to stand there behind the plushies being somewhat creepy, let him.  security will deal with him if anyone else seems bothered by his presence.

but, it seems, the other man has a different idea.  when baekhyun is free from the tugging hands of children if only for a moment, he turns and finds a rather large tsum plush of stitch looking back at him.  he freezes, because he knows who it is that stands behind the plush but if he wants to keep his job, he has to keep smiling.  no matter how much he doesn’t want to.  

“ that’s stitch, sir.” baekhyun says in a bright manner, not really looking him in the eye.  “ we have some more in different sizes this way, if you’ll follow me -” his heart sinks a little, realizing all too quickly that he’ll have to spend actual time with the boogeyman.  at least for the moment.  “ i didn’t know you liked to come into places like these .. hyunbin.”

if there’s one thing about baekhyun - even if he’s often left unsure of what to do with himself, even if he’s afraid of fading, he still always has questions.  perhaps they say that curiosity kills cats, but baekhyun is certain that it doesn’t kill faeries - or at the very least, he hasn’t been killed from it yet.  so he’s always trying to learn all the things that he doesn’t know, in the hopes that maybe, he’ll find a reason.

so far, though, he hasn’t come up with one yet.

but that doesn’t matter.  at the end of the day, baekhyun at the very least comes out of it better and knowing more than before.  in this instance, his questions don’t have much to do with learning anything in particular - except about someone else.  his eyes, somehow, have stumbled on a mermaid - the mermaid, the one in everyone’s stories and much beloved by the disney store.  or .. well, disney fans in general he supposes. they’ve never spoken much, but he’s always had a fascination with things that he’s never seen - goes hand in hand with his curiosity.  so it may be rude, but he sits down next to her with a wide and welcoming smile on his lips.

“ hello, miss mermaid.  would you be offended if i asked to see your tail just once?”

it’s been… a bit of a long day at work.

hoseok trudges home with clay and different colored finger paints on his arms and across his cheeks, right under his eye, and even staining his maroon smock. he’s grumbling under his breath, without real malice because he doesn’t actually mind, about his precious shop turning into a daycare under the guise of “potter classes.” but he’s still got a spring in his tired step, and he doesn’t even mind that he has the urge to wipe at his face ( even though he knows the paint won’t go away until he’s run some hot water over it )– he doesn’t mind at all.

he is still exhausted though. he also got nothing done really… but he supposes it’s okay once in a while.

hoseok does, however, let out a soft yelp when he collides with something, no, someone, solid– stopping in his tracks and blinking disorientedly. he flips his bangs out of his eyes with a small jerk of his head, the poor passerby’s face swimming into view. and it’s odd… the fairy knows him quite well by now, as far as to know what he’s thinking sometimes. this gives him a bit of a warm fuzzy feeling. outwardly, of course, he just mutters softly, “oh. that’s okay. is the ground especially interesting today?” it’s half curiosity… and half a dry attempt at some humor. he immediately berates himself for it afterwards, having the decency to look sheepish as he runs an orange, pink, blue, purple stained hand through his dark locks, brushing his bangs away from hsi face once more.

“…that was an odd question… wasn’t it? i meant to say you seem to be thinking pretty hard about somethin’. anything the matter?”

“ the ground?” baekhyun quips, sparing a quick glance at the cracked pavement of new york city sidewalks and then lifting his head.  the ground here is nothing like the cobblestones of the kingdom, nothing like the homelands - everything was far more green and homely.  here, it’s just cold and gray and baekhyun, even though it’s been so long since they’ve left, still isn’t sure if he likes it.  “ oh, it’s not a weird question.  i was just thinking about what i have to do today.” 

the answer is honest, even though the reality of the matter is this: baekhyun never has anything to do.  he feels himself fading sometimes, becoming a little less himself because the meaning for his birthright is slowly dwindling.  but it’s nothing that concerns eeyore, and if he even thought of telling him, the little donkey would probably just find reason to be upset about it for days.

no, it’s best just not to tell him at all.

baekhyun’s smile is still bright and glittering in spite of the somber mood that lingers somewhere around his shoulders, eyes taking in hoseok’s appearance now.  “ what happened to you, hoseok? you’re all covered in paint -” he blinks at him, giggling with a sound that’s almost like the tinkle of a bell. “ oh, speaking of kids, you know i work at the disney store right? now that you’re here, i can finally tell you my story and it’s all about you -”

he’s just managed to get off of work, not very tired and looking for something.  the fairy is always searching for something these days, with a lack of things to do and way too much time on his hands.  after all, baekhyun’s own story has ended, and his very own cinderella doesn’t seem to need him much anymore.  there’s no need for wishes when she already has everything that she could ever want in a bouncing bundle of joy and a husband who loves her most dearly.

but he tries not to think of it that much.  he just focuses on all the things that he can do in the time that he has, like “ pretend” magic that fascinates the children at the disney store he works in - more than likely, he’d get in trouble with bigby if the wolf knew about it but thankfully, just because children believe in the mundy world doesn’t mean anyone else will.  so it’s still a secret and baekhyun is still bringing wide eyed wonder to someone, even if they’ll simply forget him when they’re older and think that magic has died.

that’s the sad thing about this place.  no one seems to believe in anything anymore.

baekhyun lets out a sigh, scuffing his feet on the ground as he strolls along.  he’s making his way back to the woodland apartments when he accidentally bumps into someone’s back.  immediately he scoots backwards, blinking furiously in his surprise.  “ oh, eeyo - .. hoseok, dear -.  i didn’t see you there.” he smiles gently, patting him on the back.  “ and before you say it’s because no one ever sees you, it’s not like that.  i was just too busy looking at the ground.”

and onto the second muse, here is my little fairy godmother baekhyun <’: yes, he’s a guy, but he doesn’t consider gender roles in the case of being a godparent and everyone calls him the godmother so you know what? he’s the godmother ok.  i’ve had this muse for a long time < five years, in fact - > and he was in an old rp based on the fables comics a LONG time ago.  just in case you may recognize him? i doubt it though. ;;;
