one of my friends is watching twd and i was talking abt how much daryl meant to me n she just likes him cause he’s hot and like i get it but GAAAAAWD he’s such a good character and so many people dont see that🙁

i’ve already made a post about this once but it’s worth repeating—there’s really something so comforting about this show and the characters’ relationships within this universe. i absolutely adore how the most random people become family. rick grimes and daryl dixon would have had NOTHING to do with each other before, and yet in this world they’re like brothers and they make an incredible team

and don’t even get me started on the friendship between daryl and carol—both of them grow so much throughout the series as people and as survivors, and the continual love between them as two people who have been brutally abused (and likely somewhat isolated) throughout their lives warms my heart so much. they are the definition of platonic soulmates!!!

my point is, this show has many complex characters with beautiful arcs and as someone who doesn’t naturally feel a sense of belonging very often, it’s deeply comforting for me to see these characters forge all sorts of relationships out of horrible scenarios. seeing other people in the fandom who recognize the beauty of this show makes me so happy

you know your walking dead obsession has gotten bad when you unexpectedly see cherokee roses and have to take a whole photoshoot

i don’t see them very often so i got a little too excited lol. makes me think of the beautiful friendship between carol and daryl :’)

am i the only one who loves lori. imo she doesn’t deserve the hate she gets.

she did sleep with shane, but she genuinely thought her husband was dead. she even says in the show that she just wanted to feel something. i don’t think she genuinely moved on that quick, i think she was scared and traumatized and feeling guilty for how her relationship with rick ended. and as soon as rick got back, she put shane in his place.

i see people online saying she’s a bad mother to carl/she can’t keep an eye on him, (though she tries, he’s just disobedient) yet i also see people complaining about her not wanting him to have weapons on him. she literally can’t win whether she’s overprotective or not. maybe she isn’t cut out for the apocalypse, but she did the best she could for her family. she was afraid.

and her death is one of the saddest ones of the show for me. i cry every single time. the fact that carl is there and has to do what he does… it’s so sad

i do tend to have a thing for disproportionately hated female characters though (skyler white i’m looking at you)

daryl is such a great comfort character. as someone who struggles socially and has always been more of a loner type (largely due to my autism which is a whole other conversation), it’s so comforting for me to be able to indulge in a fictional world in which someone whose life was once defined by being alone, being forced to fight for himself, never finding much of a community, ultimately finds a group of people who become family to him. people who never would’ve looked twice at him prior to the apocalypse. although it’s obviously an extremely fictional world, it’s helpful to even see a fictional character find friendship and community when he was so used to being alone. makes me feel like there are people out there who might like the person i am underneath the walls i’ve put up as a defense mechanism against a harsh world not built for people like me

ok so i just wanted to make an introduction post ! i’m nova and i’m super obsessed with the walking dead and decided to make a blog on here to hopefully find interesting posts and share my thoughts about the show with ppl who also love it :D

about me: i’m 23 years old and use she/her pronouns

i only started watching twd last year but i quickly became obsessed ! i have many favourite characters but i tend to focus most on rick, carol, and daryl. but i love many of the characters. my favourite seasons are 2, 4, and 5. my blog will likely contain spoilers for the show so don’t follow if you don’t want to see spoilers !
