Someone told me that they saw you today you were standing alone at the supermarket  a grapefruit cradled between your hands like a bird’s egg and I didn’t know if I should be sad or proud about the way you’ve grown since us or how you used to hold me like that as though I was just shy of breaking but baby well done, for shrugging yourself into clothes and crawling out of bed because the last time we were in a place together you held my hands so hard that my knuckles turned white and I had nail marks on my wrists for an entire week and the only way that you could talk to me was lips by ear in case somebody heard you speak, baby I admit that I liked the way you felt when you were near me digging so far into my hips until we were both edges  but there is nothing healthy about the way you fold curling so tight until you are an origami swan holding your breath for minutes at a time because the bustle of life turns you into the definition of breathless   so I heard that you were alone today, in a place today cradling a grapefruit between your two open palms  and I half wished that it was me and half prayed that you would learn to unwind further

a plot loosely inspired by the babysitters?? muse a has had a crush on muse b for years, ever since they were little - the thing is there’s a huge age difference, muse b is married, they’ve always babysat their kid(s), and well... nothing has ever happened. but when they come back after their first year of college for the summer, much more mature and confident in themselves, things change. they offer to babysit over the summer for extra cash, and before you know it they’re flirting and chatting like a couple of smitten teenagers when they stop for food or something on the drive to drop muse a at home. they end up sleeping with each other once, and then again. but muse b is still paying muse a, and paying them a lot more than your average babysitting job. so what happens when muse b lets it slip to one of their friends about it? and their friend wants a “”babysitter”” who does the same things on the drive home? and then muse a starts taking more jobs of their own since they feel like they’re just a hooker to them and not anything more? jealousy? rage? fights? spouses finding out??
