Prompt: #14 ice skating Rating: G / canon Word Count: ~400

In retrospect, this may not have been his best idea. Flying came naturally to him. He was fierce, precise, graceful all at once. On the ground, however, it was a different story. And on ice? Forget it.

He thought this as he fell and busted his arse for the third time that morning. Lily swooped in on him then, her dark red hair cascading out of her knit hat, a few strands sticking to her lips as she laughed. She circled around him, her movements sure as the blades of her skates cut across the ice.

“Nope,” he said, lying flat on his back on the ice and crossing his arms over his chest like a petulant child. “No more. I’m not getting up.”

Mummy Kissing Santa Claus

Happy One Week Until Chrima! This is for @twelvedaysofjilychristmas but I wrote it for @petalstofish like every Chrima Universe fic and it was BETAd by @elanev91 and @beks21

Also tagging @dancingstars45 because I’m sorry you have a poop friend. I’ll fight them in the parking lot for you.

Eight year old Harry Potter knew he wasn’t supposed to leave his bedroom on Christmas Eve. But really he was so thirsty and he was sure that Santa had already come and gone and if he peeked into the lounge to see how many presents had been dropped off- it wouldn’t be the end of the world.

As he started to rush past the lounge to the kitchen, he only glanced to see what was under the tree.

What he saw caused him to stop short. There in front of the Christmas Tree stood his mum. Who was kissing- not his daddy- but the man in the red suit himself. His beautiful mummy who loved his daddy over everything in this world (“YES- including Christmas, Harry”- she had told him that very morning) was kissing Santa Claus. She wasn’t even standing under the mistletoe. Harry only knew about the mistletoe rule from last year when Uncle Sirius had made his mummy kiss him even though she complained for the rest of the evening.

Startled, Harry ran back to his room- the water forgotten- and sat in his bed. He pondered the whole thing over for the rest of the night and didn’t sleep a wink.

Prompt: #12 secret santa Rating: G / canon Word Count: ~1k

Mary shook the pointed wizard’s hat in front of her.

“C’mon, Lily, it’s your turn.”

Lily closed her eyes and crammed her hand down to the very bottom of the hat, searching for just the right slip of parchment. It was Gryffindor Secret Santa and she wanted the lucky draw. Lucky, in this case, would be drawing her boyfriend’s name. She’d already gotten James his real Christmas gift. If she drew his name here, she could take the easy way out and just get him an accessory to go with his big gift which was a handsome new quaffle with his initials stitched into the leather. In the shop where she’d bought it, she also had her eye on a pair of quidditch gloves, but at the time, couldn’t justify spending the money to get both.

She drew her hand out of the hat and took a look.

Mistletoe

Prompt #24 – Rated All -  Mistletoe – 2.2k words

**Disclaimer: My dialogue abilities are on par with George Lucas’ so bear that in mind.**

Mistletoe. The Holiday tradition that James hadn’t even thought about until it became A Problem. He was in his seventh year and, despite his lack of any free time at all, he was proud to be the Head Boy to Lily Evans’ Head Girl.

Christmas-time in the castle was beautiful and something he looked forward to every year. Large trees were decorated throughout the Great Hall, tinsel and baubles lined classrooms and corridors. Mistletoe was placed randomly about and had a tendency to move where you would least expect them, and enchanted mistletoe required some type of kiss before its victims could move out from underneath it. This wasn’t new, every year Hogwarts had the same decor. He had never really worried about the problematic plant before; but, before, he wasn’t walking to classes and meetings and meals with Lily Evans. Sure, his 15 year old self might have (and certainly did) concocted subtle plans to get Lily under some mistletoe with him- not that he would have known what to do once he got her there. But now? Now he was avoiding the possibility at all cost. He and Lily were, he would now confidently say, friends. Close friends, even. James enjoyed her friendship even more than he ever anticipated; after all, she was smart, sharp, hysterical, and surprisingly devious. In addition to those things, she was also the most beautiful girl he had ever seen and hearing her laughter did funny things to his chest. He would be the happiest person in the world if she decided she felt the same about him as he felt about her, but just being her friend was more than enough.

#24: Mistletoe

Sirius stood on a rickety chair, poking at the Christmas decorations hung around the Gryffindor Common Room with his wand. 

Garland and baubles and tinsel and ribbons. But not a single sprig to be had. 

Sirius sighed in exasperation, muttered a few choice words.

“What are you doing?”

Sirius started, almost fell off the chair.

“Trying to find some mistletoe.”

Remus raised his eyebrow.

“Why? Because it worked so well with Marlene last year?”

“It should’ve worked,” Sirius muttered under his breath.

“Well it didn’t, though the black eye was fetching.” Remus smirked. “And after that fiasco, I doubt you’re going to find any mistletoe here.”

“Damn it.” Sirius hopped down from the chair. “I need it.”

Remus shook his head. “Still didn’t learn the lesson?”

“It’s not for me, Moony. It’s for Prongs.”

“Huh. I always thought you’d go for Peter.”

“Don’t insult me, Lupin. Me and Pete? Please!” Sirius rolled his eyes. “And it’s not that, either. It’s for Prongs and Evans.”

Lily paused. She was crouched down, hand outstretched, hovering in the air a few inches away from the flowers she sought. Their roots and stems were valuable potion ingredients. She’d volunteered to go to the edge of the Forbidden Forest to gather some for Slughorn. (Although, did it really count as volunteering if Slughorn had been the one to volunteer her?) She focused on staying absolutely still, straining her ears to listen for any signs of nearby movement.

Something was definitely watching her.

Secret Santa

prompt 12: secret santa

Mary suddenly came rushing into the room. “Let’s do secret santa!”

“What?” Sirius asked.

Lily gaped. “You don’t mean secret santa is only a muggle thing!”

“No!” Sirius said. “But why? We’ve never done it before.”

“You’ve never done it before. The girls and I do it every year.” Lily said.

“Yeah!” Marlene said. “It’s awesome!”

“Why not.”

“Sounds like fun.”

“Sure!”

“Okay.”

“I’m in.”

Responded the four marauders and Frank.

“Yay!” Mary said. She held out 10 chits, which looked like they had been made minutes ago, and a little Santa hat. Mary kept the chits inside and gave one to every one.

Lily took first - Remus

Then Marlene- James

Followed by Alice- Peter

Dorcas- Mary

James- Sirius

Sirius- Marlene

Peter- Dorcas

Remus- Lily

Frank- Alice

Mary took the last chit- Frank

“Anyone got their own name?” Alice asked.

The room chorused with “no.”

“Great!” Dorcas said. “I’m going to go plan what to get Ma- my person.” She said hoping no one noticed her little slip up.

“Okay. And no discussing who you got whatsoever. Okay?” Mary said strictly.

And then they all headed to their dorms.

Once the boys reached their dorm, James shut the door behind them and asked “Who got Lily?”

“Why?” Peter asked a smirk growing on his face.

The tips of his ears flushed red. “Cause, I already have something for her.” He said.

Remus sighed. “I have her.”

“Great!” James said brightly, as he handed over his chit to Remus and grabbed the chit with Lily’s name on it.

“Thanks!” He said

Christmas Day

Everyone gathered in the boys’ dorm, at six in the morning (thanks to Sirius’ and Marlene’s excitement) They had all woken up to find a present at the foot of their bed from their secret santa. They had decided to open their presents together the day before.

“Merry Christmas!” They greeted each other, not bothering about the fact that is was way too early. They could excuse Marlene and Sirius for waking them up too early on this special day.

“Let’s start with the presents!” Sirius whined.

Everyone laughed.

“First me!” Marlene said. She took her pressent and teared it open. A comfy looking sweater, with the letter M on it was revealed. The M was dark chocolate brown and the rest was a light coffee brown. “I love it! It’s gorgeous! Who got me this? Remus? “ she asked.

Remus shook his head.

“Alice?” She asked once more.

“Nope.” Alice said.

“Mary?” She tried once more.

“Not me.” Mary replied.

“I give up! Who got me this?”

Sirius smiled.

“Sirius? Aw! That’s so sweet of you!” Marlene went up to him and hugged him. A blush spread upon his features.

The others shared a knowing glance.

“It’s Sirius’ turn.” Marlene said.

Sirius opened his present to find a chocolate frog- his favourite chocolate- and a dog bone. He laughed. “Thanks Remus.”

Remus smiled. “No problem.”

Remus got two bars of chocolate and a new quill.

James got a broom set kit.

Peter got a ‘Top 16 tricks to get that lovely wizard falling for you’.

Alice got a scrapbook.

Frank got two tickets to a concert in France, during summer vacation.

Dorcas got a new defence textbook- “Sorry for losing your old one” and a few chocolates.

Mary got a new makeup set.

Lily was the last to open her present. She gasped. It was an absolutely gorgeous locket in the shape of a snitch, she opened it to find a picture of her and the girls laughing by the lake, which looked like it had been taken a couple days ago. She looked at James and smiled “I love it.” She went up to him and kissed him long and hard, ignoring the whistles and cheers from their friends.

A/N: This took place sometime before James and Lily ‘officially’ started dating. Cause let’s face it they were dating long before they announced it to anyone.

Prompt #15 - Rating all - canon – 1.3k words

Mary often remarked that Lily, as pretty and striking as she may be, never hesitated to choose comfort over fashion. On nights like tonight, Mary guessed it would be no exception. The Gryffindor Common Room was cozier than usual as they passed through, full of cheerful students wearing an assortment of both muggle and wizard Christmas jumpers. Some jumpers were handmade and adorned with a letter, some had a Christmas image on them, and others were enchanted to move or make noise. With their final class of the term over, Mary and Lily ran up to their dorm to change from their school robes into their own Christmas jumpers. Mary had suggested the emerald jumper she had seen peeking out of Lily’s trunk earlier in the day but Lily had merely shrugged, a clear sign that she was going to ignore the suggestion but didn’t wish to be rude about it. Mary herself had purchased a tight-fitting scarlet jumper on her last trip to Hogsmeade for the occasion. Unsurprisingly, when Mary turned to see how Lily was coming along, Lily was grinning and dressed in a muggle jumper designed for a man at least twice her size. Mary shook her head – comfort over fashion indeed. At least Lily’s hair was styled beautifully, soft waves of auburn hair. Lily reached out and grabbed Mary’s hand to drag her down to the party.

Nearby, on the boys side of the Gryffindor Tower, the group of sixth year boys were getting their own jumpers on and confirming they had the supplies necessary to spike the punch. They had carefully selected jumpers this year so they were coordinated in a way only they would understand. In one corner, in charge of the distraction in operation-spike-the-punch, a portly Peter wore a jumper decorated with a wedge of cheese wearing a Santa hat. Next was a vexed-looking Remus wearing a jumper with a large letter “M,” he hoped confusion from his sweater could help him keep the younger students from consuming the punch. Sirius wore a jumper with a dog enchanted to bark a common Christmas tune and was also tasked with the distraction. Last, James, armed with the firewhiskey, donned a muggle jumper that he had been so excited to find, a stag with a red nose. All 4, including Remus despite his vexed expression, were giddy to show off their jumpers, to give clues to their largest secret that no one knew existed. Something that would add to the mystique of The Marauder’s. Plans were in motion as they exited their dorm and headed to the festive Common Room.

Mary and Lily had just poured themselves punch when an arm appeared around Lily’s shoulders. While Mary was surprised, Lily was at ease, seemingly expecting this type of behavior from the unfairly attractive member of their year. Mary still didn’t understand how their “arrangement,” as Lily called it, had begun, but just before Halloween Lily and Sirius Black suddenly became friendly. In a couple short months, her friend, who had made serious attempts to invent a corporeal personal bubble to avoid all physical contact with other people, was comfortable enough with Sirius Black, of all people, that he could casually sling an arm around her shoulder without second glance. While Lily insisted their arrangement was strictly platonic, Mary couldn’t help but be suspicious – after 6 years of friendship, she had never seen her friend so comfortable with another person.

The Marauders entered the room and commenced the operation. Peter and Sirius would distract the prefects and otherwise swotty students while Remus and James made their way to the punch where they would discreetly add some of Ogden’s Finest. On his way to the punch bowl, James was unsurprised to find that Lily Evans was the prefect Sirius had chosen to distract. While Sirius had described his friendship with her as merely “an arrangement” that was “strictly platonic, honestly Prongs what sort of mate do you take me for,” James couldn’t help but wonder if it was more as he looked at them from behind, Sirius’ arm draped around her shoulders. He knew Sirius better than anyone, they were brothers in all but blood, and since Sirius materialized in his front door with naught but a wand and countless bruises, they lived together year-round; so, James knew just how averse Sirius was to physical contact – with everyone outside The Marauders and, now apparently, Evans. James also, as an observer of the human condition, knew that Evans was far from the touchy-feely type. She had dumped Stebbins in fourth year for attempting to hold her waist as they walked through the halls together and James distinctly remembered overhearing her talk to Flitwick about some spell to keep people at a distance. It truly wasn’t his fault that he noticed these types of things about her, she was just popular is all. He forced himself to look away and keep with the plan.

Sirius whispered something in Lily’s ear, causing her to nod and giggle, as he turned to walk away. Mary raised her eyebrows but before she could enquire, Sirius turned back around and announced, “And Red, get Macdonald here to get a refill too!” Sirius’ eyes drifted to Lily’s jumper and a dangerous smirk crossed his face as he barked out laughter. With no explanation for his sudden outburst, he strolled away, leaving behind two confused girls. Mary eloquently asked what the exchange had been about using a single word, “So…” Lily turned to her and grinned, “The boys have spiked the punch!” Mary snorted and raised a single eyebrow, “Mighty good prefect you are.” Lily merely winked and downed the remaining un-spiked punch, and motioned towards the drinks table where two of the least innocent boys she knew were looking remarkably innocent.

“What have we here Mr. Potter?” James jumped and turned around. It had been a spot-on impression of McGonagall far too close to his ear for comfort. He willed himself not to say something utterly ridiculous as his classmate smirked at him and found his eyes drifting down to look at her jumper. James realized he had been staring and prayed that she must know her jumper was far too baggy for his stare to be taken inappropriately, his eyes jumped back up to her face. Instead of meeting her eye, he discovered that she was also staring at his torso – his torso that was covered by a jumper identical to hers. Her eyes suddenly met his and she burst out, “I… How did-” but was interrupted by Sirius who placed an arm around each of their shoulders, laughing uncontrollably.

Mary found herself reconsidering any romantic feelings her friend had for Sirius as she watched the scene unfold in front of her. Apparently, Lily was also quite comfortable with James as she snuck up to him and placed her lips dangerously close to his ear, causing him to jump and spin around. Watching them splutter and blush as they realized they were wearing the exact same Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer jumper, which was likely identical even in size, was possibly the most adorable and ridiculous thing she had ever seen. They would definitely be discussing this later.

By the end of the night, and several questions of “How adorable! Are you together now?” later, James remained thankful for the tradition of a Gryffindor party the night before everyone leaves for Christmas. Evans didn’t seem to mind the questions, or her proximity to him for that matter, as much as he expected her to. Also, as a bonus, he had his picture taken with Evans, for photographic evidence that they matched, nothing more of course. Despite the twinge of jealousy he felt every time she and Sirius were clearly so comfortable with each other, he definitely appreciated the advantage that, if she was friends with Sirius, he got to spend time with her as well.

Prompt #5: Marauder Christmas Prank

After a Christmas “prank” goes awry, James Potter is forced to volunteer at his university’s library. He dreads serving out his punishment until he meets a short redheaded girl named Lily. Muggle AU. (Part 1 of 2)

It was only the eighth hour of his fifty-hour punishment and James had already threatened to quit school twice.

A lanky 19 year old uni student, James Potter was trapped at the library reception desk. He had spent most of his shift doodling in his sketchbook but found himself to be uninspired in the dreary building. Instead he focused on having a staring contest with the wall clock, willing it to tick just the tiniest bit faster.

Realizing for the nth time that he does not have magic powers and is thus unable to speed up time, James resigned himself to moping about his situation.

‘This is all Mum and Dad’s fault,’ he pouted.

Indeed, it was fair to say that Euphemia and Fleamont Potter played a significant role in their son’s current state of despair because they had once again sucked him into the annual Who Makes the Christmasiest Christmas Tunes: Michael vs. Mariah™ debate.

The Pumpkin Spice is Gone

Prompt #20 - Rating All – Coffee Shop AU – 1.5k words

“We’ve made it through pumpkin spice season once again.” Mary drawled as she put up the new menu boards. “Onto peppermint, gingerbread, and praline – what I wouldn’t give to serve up a simple latte again.” Lily replied airily. Being more art-inclined than her coworker, Lily was in charge of the Season’s Greetings décor; painting snow covered pine trees on windows and stringing up lights – carefully avoiding mentioning specific holidays by name and creating more of a colorful winter display. When they had finally finished their seasonal store changes, they set to cleaning up for the night, trading bets about which regulars would complain in the morning about the sudden disappearance of the precious pumpkin spice.  Each year was the same, Lily and Mary could attest to it. They had been working together at the coffee shop while they completed High School and began earning their degrees at the nearby College, and found it bittersweet that, as seniors, this would hopefully be their final pumpkin spice retirement. “You realize this will be our 6th Christmas explaining to customers that pumpkin spice is gone and our Christmas season flavors are here. And no, we do not, in fact, serve eggnog. We have never served eggnog. Our boss despises it and refuses to let any enter her shop.” Mary remarked as she locked the door. Lily snorted as she stood back to admire her decorative handiwork, “6th and final, Mary. Our last year serving coffee we can’t afford ourselves.” Mary hummed in agreement as they headed back to their shared apartment.

Just a few hours later, Lily was again behind the counter setting up for the upcoming day. The bell above the door jingled much earlier than she would have expected and a group of 4 boys, appearing to be her age, made their way in.
