Twilight And Shadows
"Twilight….Realm…?" The shade mumbled under his breath. This was all so new to him though it did feel a bit cozier than Hyrule. He found himself more at peace and relaxed within the dark world.
Dark’s eye gave a slight twitch at the mention of Ganondorf. He and the Dark Lord didn’t have the best memories together. “So…Ganon’s power even reached here huh?” He growled, not even liking the mention of his name. “Though Zant doesn’t sound familiar.” His thoughts were interrupted at the Queen’s question.
"My name is Dark Link but I just go by Dark. As you can guess, I’m the darkness that was inside the Hero’s heart, bound into his shadow by Ganondorf’s magic. Though before you make any assumptions, I am no longer under Ganon’s control. Link freed me from him so I hold no grudge against him."
"So you knew him..." She mused, a softer expression lighting up her features. "I trust that you will not harm me..." She breathed, eyes slowly closing and opening, long lashes fluttering and a warm smile on her lips. "Zant is a Twili, one of my people... But yes, Ganon's power reached here and tore my life from my hands." So she was right, though... In a way, he was Link, but he was not at the very same time. "I met Link in the form of a wolf, at first..." She chuckled, covering her mouth with a hand. "I do have to say I'm glad that our meeting did not go the same way." It was reassuring to know that this shadow did not hold a grudge. That was when she decided that she'd permit him to remain in the castle as long as he wished, as long as he intended her no harm and he held no ill intent toward his light side. "Dark, would you be my guest at dinner?" She raised a brow, canting her head slightly and tapping her chin with a single digit.
"When everything is in the palm of my hand, it is no deluusion. After all you will never gain access to the castle. Unless you really think you have the power to overcome me." Her words didn’t faze him at all. All this was is a minor set back to him, one so minor it doesn’t even matter. The woman before him had no way to break through the barrier around Hyrule Castle. Nor would he mention a way to do so. Zant taking the fused shadow was one of his best decisions. Since without it the barrier will remain in tact. Even then fused shadow or not, crushing the one before him is simple.
"Though you certainly can bark despite being in a unfavorable position. Maybe its due to that boy you travel with. But if he was to die maybe then you’d still your tongue." That boy will become a hindrance later on so getting rid of him now the king of darkness has no problems doing.
"Have you ever thought that the very thing that you seek is merely an illusion to fill a void?" Midna's lips were curling into a sneer, completely unafraid. She had come this far with Link, there was no turning back now. Not until the end of their quest, so they could admire what they had done. "If he were to die, I would simply have another reason for revenge. Do you believe that I fear death? No. I do not." Slowly, one foot before the other, she moved ever closer to the man, their eyes locked and neither backing down from their position. Did she have the power to overcome him? She wasn't certain of that, but it wasn't something that the ruler was willing to admit openly. "Of course, dear, I have the power to fell you, but that is not my job. I shall merely stand by, exchanging words with you until we grow bored of the other's company. As a ruler, I understand fully well that it is not always best to lunge into battle." The unusual calm that radiated from Midna oozed confidence. "I'd much prefer to trade jabs with you. I would like to think that you are an intelligent man." Her words were softer than when she started, hands folded before her as she paused walking, no more than two lengthy strides away from the King of Darkness.
Twilight And Shadows
"Tch, you’d be surprised. You probably wouldn’t believe my story either." A laugh escapes his shadow lips as he began to follow the stranger. The shadow observed the surrounding area. It looked so foreign. Nothing at all like the Hyrule he was from.
"What is this place?" He muttered out. "I’ve never heard of anywhere like this."
"Welcome to the Twilight Realm." She spoke warmly, her composure changing from the sobbing maiden she had been moments ago to a regal figure, holding her head high and indicating the land around her with a sweeping motion of her arm. "I, Midna, am Queen of the Realm of Twilight and I was dethroned by Zant, using the powers that Ganondorf had bestowed upon him to turn me from this into a small, vile imp." She gritted her teeth, gaze narrowing slightly as she recalled her past. She breathed slowly, calming herself and looking back at the shadow, lips curling upwards. "What's your name, might I ask?"
Twilight And Shadows
The tear slid down the woman’s cheek, dripping onto the blade held against her. Why was she crying so suddenly? The shadow doubted that it had been that much of a scare. Her traveling eyes made him realize what had just happened. She must have known the hero, a rush of emotions must be swirling inside the woman.
The sword was withdrawn and placed back into it’s sheath. A sigh escaped the man’s lips. He was never good at dealing with these sort of things though it was clear that he couldn’t ask much with the woman holding back her tears.
His cold, crimson eyes softened as a finger was raised to wipe away her tears. “You knew him didn’t you?” That was all the shadow could utter out.
"Indeed, I did. You probably wouldn't believe my story if I told you..." She couldn't help but give a faint laugh, a small smile curling at her lips as she forced herself to look at him again, reminding herself that this was not Link. This was not her Hero of Time. Midna motioned for him to follow her, heading toward the castle enshrouded in darkness, perpetual twilight painting the land with oranges and reds that shone, making her hair glow like an ember, buried amongst ash.

Dark felt a strange sensation pass through his body. He didn’t know where he even was anymore. It looked like a mirror version of Hyrule but…..darker. The air around him had strange pixelated darkness flying through it. He’d never seen a such a strange place.
As he walked through the strange land, he felt a strong aura approach him. The presence drew closer with each passing second, eventually feeling as if it was directly behind him. In a quick movement, the shadow turned around, his sword and shield drawn. Crimson eyes met each other as the tip of the shade’s blade rested by the woman’s neck. “Who are you?”
The woman had been investigating the strange presence in her realm, only to be met by an all too familiar face. She could feel the aching in her chest, only to be snapped out of it by the cold blade at her throat. "You aren't him, are you?" She murmured, eyes flickering over his figure, fiery hues meeting his own scarlet. She couldn't look at his face without feeling a part of her shattering slowly. "Midna." That was all she said, a single tear rolling down her cheek. After all, he had asked only her name and he was stranger in her world... Still, why did he look just like him? Her last words to the hero of time echoed in the back of her mind. "Link...s...see you." The woman hadn't shed a tear or thought about his face since she shattered the mirror, but here she was, being haunted by memories of her past. A small noise was heard from her as she choked back her tears. She never got to tell Link how she felt or give him a proper goodbye.
(Cough cough. Link or midna or both?)
(MidZel for life bitches~)

"A shattered mirror for a shattered life. Perfectly fitting for the Twilght Princess." A voice could be heard but not seen, a powerful darkness looming over the area. Yet there was no indication where it came from, only who it belonged too.
A voice only the king of evil could have. Yet why was he there? Why did he leave the castle? These facts was a mystery. But even i she was to wonder the dark presence grew larger like it was getting closer. Yet there was still no sighs of the king of evil. Where could he be? Where could he be coming from? There is no telling till he has yet to appear. Though there was even more questions. What does he intend to do? What will he do when he arrives? Questions that wouldn’t be strange to cross the mind, questions that was perfectly logical. Yet the scared sages, did not dare speak a single question. One was already gone, the rest did not wish to share the same fate. Hiding in fear of the dark power, the king of evil, the holder of the triforce of power. The sages stayed hidden, scared of what could happen if they showed themselves. It was already proven nothing they could do would stop him.
"Though to have regained your true form. What a surprising sight, maybe Zant left the job half finished." The voice became clearer, and less spread out the words only aimed at one person. And then he appeared, stepping out of a dark portal of his own creation. Ganondorf had arrived.
Midna felt a chill go down her spine, turning on a dime only to face the King of Darkness. She straightened her posture, showing that she held no fear for the man. Instead, she narrowed her eyes and took a step away from the mirror. Lips curled into a snarl, her fiery hues narrowed sharply. "Perhaps you put too much faith in him, as well as letting your ego fill your mind with sick delusions of power." She hissed, her words sharp as daggers and her hand toying with the hem of her cloak, lips pursed. The Twilight Princess could feel her heart pound in her chest, adrenaline rushing through her as she awaited his next words, waiting to see what he was going to do next... The woman was not going to lower her guard though... She was fully aware of what he was capable of.
"So, Your Highness, what are you dressed as for the festivities?"
"I am… actually dressed as an ally… and a friend." She said, giving a slightly nervous chuckle. "I’m not certain how I agreed to this, though… This may be very comfortable for her, I’m sure, but it’s rather chilly for me."
Midna had chosen to wear the princess' clothes, so it was only fitting that Zelda was dressed in her's. A curious smile curled her lips and a soft, melodic chuckle escaped her as she approached Zelda. "It definitely suits you, dear."
((Reblog if you’re a Legend of Zelda rper! I need to follow more of you!))
Silence was her only companion, aside from shadows. But neither were true company, for she was still alone even when surrounded by the comforting darkness. There was nobody to take her hand, to whisper her name or to make sure she was alright... Even now, she was alone. The Hero of Time, Link, had gone off to find a lead of some sort, desperately searching for a passage into the massive, towering castle that kept him from the princess of this world. The Twili woman breathed a sigh, the desert wind picking up her fiery strands, a singular tear rolling down her cheek. What has she done to deserve anything that had happened? Why die she deserve the way her life had been torn from her hands and shattered into pieces, the way the mirror had been. Fingers traced the glass, the singular tear that had rolled down her pale cheek finally falling to the ground. She mulled on her time in the world of light, watching from the shadows as she always had. Yes, the recent events lead to her making a friend... Or, at least that's how she perceived her relationship with the hero, despite the occasional lingering feeling for the blonde haired male. But no. It would never work. It couldn't work. And she was aware of that. Furrowing her brow, she turned her head and looked out over the endless sands, ever shifting with the wind.
