Description:

You are a royal heir, third born to the King of Arevikland, yet tenth in line for the throne. While your older siblings were being groomed for politics, you were being wielded into a weapon of war. Your coming of age ceremony was followed by a declaration of war on a neighboring empire; your gift: you were placed in command of your father's troops. It's been 12 long years of a bloody war with no end in sight, and everyone knows that this war would have ended poorly years ago if it weren't for your leadership. Yet suddenly your father is pulling you from the frontlines... a betrothal to the enemy is on your horizon.

In Bethroned, you will play as a customizable (male or female; gay, bi, straight, or asexual) spare heir in a fictional world, living amongst the people with whom your homeland had until recently been warring for over a decade.

Play the cards you've been dealt as you try to shape your destiny. Will you befriend those who were once your sworn rivals? Or will you pull strings in hopes of granting advantages to the homeland that used you as its pawn?

Uncover a plot that could destabilize the peace between your homeland and the empire you married into. Will your royal spouse become your greatest ally, against all odds? Or will they rue the day they agreed to your father's terms?

Keyframes Updated!

Well, folks. Our eyeballs are falling out and the last two weeks have felt a little like cramming for an exam— which is very funny considering none of the leads have been in college for a minute— but we did it. The Spring Semester demo that isn't really a demo is up!

You can now finally(!) enjoy the last two weeks of your semester with Deja, Cameron, Elio, Jamie, and Percy. Play from five new events, completely free on our itch.io page— including partial voice acting, eight CGs, and about 280,000 words total!

As we've mentioned before, we are releasing this update ahead of the Kickstarter!

If you haven't already heard, the Kickstarter only aims to fund production for Summer. We'll explain the reasons for this in full detail later, but for now, keep an eye on our social channels for news!

It's been a long year of development and an even longer wait, and we're excited to hear what you all think. We'll be taking a short break to recuperate, but our askbox is open! (But if you encounter any bugs, please send a report to [email protected].)

Looking for a new Lead Character Artist!

Foxglove Games is a tiny indie game studio dedicated to writing visual novels and romance games in a variety of genres. We released our debut visual novel, Trouble Comes Twice, back in 2023.

We are currently working on our second visual novel - BURN THE MIDNIGHT OIL. A neon-noir crime romance packed with action, mystery, and a touch of horror.

Set in a fictionalized eighties England, where supernatural creatures and other horrors hide in plain sight, you will play as one of two protagonists: the seductive vampire detective Circe, on the hunt for an explanation to a series of bloody murders, or the unwilling cop Dante, a half-demon looking to put an end to a dangerous new drug before it claims more victims. Due to health reasons, our previous art lead unfortunately had to step back from the project. We are now looking for a new lead character artist to draw the sprites and CG illustrations!

Hello folks! 💜 As you know, our demo is coming in three days, so here's an update on the android / iOS version!

Google Play Store is currently reviewing the demo and hopefully it'll be up for the 21st. If not, we'll make sure to let you all know! It'll be up sooner than later!

✪ And what about iOS / Apple Store?

We are going to be honest here. Uploading an app to the Apple Store is hell. It's sisyphus and the rock. And it's 99 dollars a year. Sadly, the demo won't be coming to the Apple Store in a good while if it does at all. We are very sorry :')

CH3 [140K WORDS] UPDATE + A LESSON

Hi guys! sorry for the delay there was a reason for it

I fucked up my files and lost all the work I did over the few months for the chapter 2 rewrite...like all of it, im really bummed out about it. and like an idiot ive been playtesting the wrong, unfinished outdated chapter 2 lol

im ngl I did have a pretty long cry earlier which is why I took a while...and im crying now writing this lol

I know it's a wip and these things happen but I worked really hard on 200k+ words of chapter 2 to see it improved and to see it all gone and fucked up really really sucks. I value infamous really highly and am pretty hard on myself so when I dont feel like I deliver what I want to deliver it's really hard for me to move on from that. I was really excited to have this all out at once and now I feel completely disheartened. I know I just have to pick myself up and just get back to work and rewrite chapter 2 but right now im just really upset

anyway, sorry to kill the mood this is probably the worst vibe killer ever lmao I hope everyone is excited! I said I was going to release chapter 3 for band tier and thats what im doing. You'll play the prologue + chapter 1 but will have to input some variable stuff for chapter 3. I hope having chapter 3 can make up for the loss of chapter 2

I find chapter 3 to be the most lighthearted of all chapters for me so I hope you guys like it. if there's any inconsistencies (there might be due to lack of chapter 2 context or whatnot), errors, passages missing etc etc.

ill be around to fix any bugs and stuff but I think im going to take a day or two to refresh because im really fucking sad lol

Alexei - So many facts, so much knowledge, you'd be there from opening to closing. He's completely content to sit and watch jellyfish for hours while you info dump together. Will buy you at least three plushies of your most talked about animals. He loves the egg-yolk jelly 🪼

Brooklyn - Do you want the ultimate aquarium experience? He'll rent the place out after hours so you two will have the whole place to yourselves. Takes your knowledge very seriously, like stands with his arms folded slowly nodding his head as if you're telling him the most important info in the world. Fond of the decorator crab 🦀

Leo - Matching aquarium hats from the gift shop. Wants to do any available activities like feeding stingrays or doing the touch tank. Asks you a lot of questions about jellyfish. Frequent "Check this out!" in regards to cool things he found he wants to show you. Obsessed with the penguins 🐧

Milo - Super slow to move on to each exhibit because rather than read the info, he likes to observe the critters in their enclosure. You can't quite tell if he's listening to you or not while you unleash your facts. He is. He'll bring up something you mentioned about seahorses two months from now. Relates to the wolf eel 🐺

Rory - He finds the aquarium very relaxing and you notice he looks more peaceful than usual. He also legit reads all the placards and information on each species. He acts slightly annoyed with your info dumping, but you can tell that he's taking it all in. After your visit, he draws the bat ray a lot 🦇

Tobias - The S.E.A. Aquarium, L’Oceanografic, Curaçao Sea Aquarium Park - if you like aquariums, you will be flown out to see all of them! He might not have the biggest interest in marine life, but he will actually be quiet and listen to you talk about it. Tries to scare you in the shark areas. Thinks the leopard shark is rad 🦈

Some waterpark headcanons 🌊

Alexei - He really enjoys the water (especially once you/someone teaches him how to swim 🏊‍♂️). Particularly likes sitting on a tube in the wave pool, and will hold your hand so you don't get separated. You'll catch him studying ride mechanics pretty frequently. He'll figure out how to make tube rides go real fast. Rather than being afraid, he's just beaming. If the turbulence makes you squish into him, that's only a plus

Brooklyn - On duty making sure you're hydrated and protected from the sun, if needed. He'll get a VIP pass. As much as he wants to, he will not wear a Victorian bathing suit. However, swim trunks + sunglasses give him a very different sort of look than you're used to 🔥 He'll even make the ride attendants stutter. This guy does not have any interest in solo rides. He wants to be with you

Leo - Leo is quintessential waterpark boyfriend. Like he should be working there. He's up for anything and is just very golden-retriever-in-the-water engery. He's a pro on the surfing simulator and insists on carrying large tubes up to the rides himself. Puts his arm around you while waiting in line and sneaks a few kisses here and there. If you start getting too hot, he'll give you his hat. Loves wrapping you up in a towel at the end of the day

Milo - Is content to do whatever you want to do. Fluctuates between being a gentleman by holding the inner tube still for you to get in...and positioning you both so you get the most air and bumps. Lowkey holds your hand in line. Eats a lot of pizza. Uses the lazy river as an opportunity to take a nap. Excellent to use as a flotation device in the wave pool. He looks quite tan by the time you leave

Rory - You'll be reapplying sunscreen on him about every 1.5 hours, otherwise he'll burn to a crisp. Packs lunches for the two of you rather than purchasing food. Top of his list is the death drop water slide. So annoyed if someone cuts you two in line. Wraps his arms around you only in dark tunnel rides. Secretly pleased if you ever get scared and cling to him. Disappears at one point and comes back with a cute souvenir from the gift shop for ya

Tobias - Even disregarding his celebrity status, he will draw attention due to his appearance, so be prepared to have everyone ogling your boyfriend. He'll want to go on the adrenaline rides and will encourage you to join. Will be scared of rides with animatronics and such. He's that guy who wants to make out with their partner in queue, but he'll try to keep it PG. Cabana rental where the two of you can chill with some privacy

Haha I'm actually shaking a little from excitement and nervousness because you guys finally get a taste of what we've been working on for nearly a year :,) It's really been a nerve-wracking night for me having to stay up for this exact moment, but I'm ultimately really proud of what we get to show y'all. Honor Bound Chapter 6 Update!

I'm pleased to share Honor Bound Chapter 6 today, on dashingdon and itchio! As usual, you can play through the whole thing or skip to the start of the chapter of your choice.

If you have the time and energy, it's always great to hear what you think! There has some feedback (mostly to do with engaging with/thinking about previous colleagues, and with exchanging letters/phone calls with Fiore) that I'm sitting on until I've completed more of the draft so that I've got a better sense of scope and pacing, but please do know that I'm taking it all in and giving it all careful consideration.

This chapter adds around 39,000 words to the demo, putting it at around 263,000 words!

Things you may encounter during this chapter:

some kissing (optional)

some crying (optional for the MC, but not for others)

flagrant misuse of a church

a religious ceremony (unrelated)
