Wolfgang knew Lola had her moments when it came to leaving the caravan and he wasn’t going to stop her from doing what she needed to do. It wouldn’t be right of him. But as she walked out of the caravan and spoke to him, he smiled up at her and nodded. “Well, I heard there was some pretty cool cliffs on the other side of town. We could go see those?” He spoke, reaching over to take her hand in his.

Lola’s smile widened as he began to hold her hand, which sent a tingle up he farm. “Sounds perfect.” She mused but honestly as long as they were together anything would be perfect. Everything was back to the routine and normal. Small things like that is what kept her sane.

Making his way out of the tent with her, he couldn’t help that his shadows were turning into hearts as they fluttered away. But, once he got into the open air and his eyes were focusing a bit better, he stopped in his tracks when she had. He felt pretty blank, as if all of what happened was a daydream. “Yeah…bu’ wha’ happened?” He asked, scratching the back of his head lightly. “Was I unda’ some sorta voodoo spell o’ somethin’?”

Lola felt as if she could faint just from the relief of knowing it was over but, instead she just sighed and laughed uttering out. “Not exactly but, kind of. I was just practicing a sort of love scent thing, I don’t know, and you walked and yea. That happened. Do you remember everything? Do you need anything?” She asked wanting to make sure he was okay. Lola really had no idea what to expect because this had never happened before.

When she left the room, Wolfgang had moved towards the center of her caravan, crossing his arms over his chest. A small smile had formed at his lips as he took in her caravan. Something familiar to him. Seeing her moved back in front of him, he smiled at her and nodded his head. He opened the door to her caravan for her and followed her out, waiting to make sure she was good. “Anything in particular you might want to see?”

Leaving the caravan, as stupid as it sounds, is never easy for Lola. She always worries if the lights are on or if the water is running or if the door is slightly open but, Wolfgang helps. She confidently knows he did right. That makes it possible for Lola to just walk down the steps without retreating back inside to flicker the lights four more times. “Not really, I don’t really know what there is to see.” She said shyly ducking her head to look at her feet.

As soon as she told him that they were going somewhere, he easily stood up while using her offered hand as leverage. “An’whe’e wit’ y’ woul’ b’ magnifique, ma cherie.” He told her, his love-sick eyes locked on her as he kept her hand in his by gripping it lightly. “A’e w’ goin’ somewhe’e fo’ a drin’ o’-a meal? I’d love-a da’e wit’ y’.” He told her, nipping his bottom lip and blushing brightly. Soon enough, he was humming “Once Upon A Dream” since it was his favorite song and he felt that it fit the moment.

At his compliment Lola lowered her head and blushed. Not because of his words but more so that she was so uncomfortable with this situation. Lola didn’t like having this kind of power over people. This was a person she barely knew falling all over himself for her. “You’ll see just, come on.” Lola urged as she picked up her pace, trying to leave as soon as possible. Pushing aside the curtain and back into the cirque, Lola’s feet slowed as she looked back anxiously at him to see if there was any change. Finally, she stopped and asked “Feel any different?”

Wolfgang was racking his brain trying to figure out why he felt nervous, but of course he had no clue. So, he just pushed it aside and moved on. “Great!” He smiled, following her back into her caravan. He shut the door behind them before letting his hands move into his pockets. “So, have you been getting back into the swing of things easily?”

Lola quickly rushed into her bedroom, pulling at a cardigan quickly before returning to Wolfgang. “Yea, I feel like it’s just coming back home. I’m not really used to it but I like it.” She said while walking back towards him. Her stomach seemed to explode with butterflies as she looked at him just standing there. “I’m all set.” Lola swung forward and back on her feet as she looked at him expectantly.

Noticing another woman approaching her, Freja moved quickly towards her. For all she knew, she would be able to help the mermaid figure out what was going on. But she stopped in her tracks when Freja saw he lips move, but heard no sound coming out. “No. Am I deaf as well?” she asked, her eyes widening a bit in horror.

Lola’s eyes quickly widened as the girl asked about her hearing. Shaking her head frantically, Lola mimed with her hands and exaggerated her mouth saying “No! No!”. It was a surreal feeling when she felt her self talking but no sound came to her ears. Lola tried communicating again as she opened her mouth “I don’t know how to stop this!”

“Vad händer? Jag förstår inte. Varför har jag fortfarande mina ben”? She wondered through the cirque, thinking aloud to herself as she tried to figure out what had happened. When she had woken up in the water tank, she hadn’t been greeted by the sight of her lovely tail like usual. Instead, she had her normal human legs. “Maybe I am still in the dream?” she asked aloud, stopping in her tracks and looking around her.

Lola woke up thinking it was a normal day till she tried to open her mouth and found she was unable to speak. Any noises she except to hear were also silent. At first she thought she was deaf but once she walked outside she knew it was just any noise she made which became silent. As she walked around, Lola noticed the blonde also as confused at tried to say “No, this is real. What happened to you?” but, obviously, no sound left her mouth.

When he let go of her hand, he smiled to her and knew that there was something special about her. Oh, Lord in Heaven, she could’ve been an angel. The love fragrance was in the air and all he could do was give in to it. As soon as she demanded, he sat down on the ground in front of her and gave her an adoring smile. “Anythin’ fo’ y’, ma cherie.” He placed his chin in his hands, his legs folded under one another as he rested his elbows on his knees. “Y’ s’ belle. Magnifique.”

As she saw him sat down, just from his movements she knew that Lola was in over her head. Placing her hands over her head, Lola sighed and turned back to the far wall so not to see him. “Okay…okay.” She murmured to herself as she shook at her hands letting herself concentrate on the air around her. Now, she closed her eyes as she tried to combat the powerful scent. Yet still, it was to no avail. “Alright. Hey. Let’s go somewhere.” Lola said with an amount of worry to her voice. She thought maybe if they left the affects would fade. She walked over to him and held out her hand to help him up.

Wolfgang had heard something in the distance and had turned to see what it was before he heard the door open and he saw Lola on the other side. “Hey.” he smiled back at her. “Um, I was wondering if you might want to go out and sight see with me?” He didnt’ know why he felt nervous, but he did. “Figured it would be fun for the two of us to get out. Have a little bit of a date.”

Her eyes softened as she saw Wolfgang grow a little uncomfortable as he spoke. It made her feel important and he was cute. “I would love to.” Lola grinned as she nodded. “I just need to grab a sweater. You can come in.” Her head nodded towards the inside of her caravan as she slowly walked in watching if he followed.

The scent took over the puppeteer and all he could do was follow it around. He started to hum the song in his head that brought him the most love-sick feelings, wondering if this was real. It probably wasn’t but he let himself get lost in it. When she spoke, he looked to her and took her hand into his with a bright smile to show that he wasn’t thinking so. Kissing her knuckles like the Southern gentleman he could be, he looked into her eyes before pulling away. “I don’ see how it is. Mind explainin’ tha’ t’ me?”

Oh goodness. This would not be good. Lola’s hands kept fumbling around in the air as she concentrated on making this overwhelming scent disappear. As she saw what it was doing to this man, Lola became nauseous. Merle took her hand and she felt frozen to the spot. Struck with guilt as her eyes widened looking at his brown eyes. His words seemed to shake her from the floor as she began to pace. Lola tried concentrating on changing the scent, even just a little bit but her eyes kept darting back to Merle. “Okay, it’s not a mist-. Look can you just sit down for a second?”

Wolfgang had spent the day organizing his booth the way he liked it. Being gone for two weeks had left things a little bit of a mess, but now that it was done, he found himself wondering what to do next. It was then that a sweet scent had drifted by with the wind and as it left, Lola had seemed to float into his thoughts. He realized he hadn’t been able to really get out and see the city yet, so who better to go see it with than her. Closing up the door, he quickly made his way toward Lola’s door and knocked lightly. “Hey! It’s me.” He called, waiting for her to answer the door.

Lola spent most of the day wandering around the cirque, meeting new people and letting her friends know that she was back. It was nice to see everyone again and get to know all the new faces around. Soon enough, she was settled back in and went to her caravan. Cozying herself into a chair, Lola picked up a new book and got lost in the pages. The next voice she heard was that of Wolfgang’s at her door. Quickly bookmarking her page, Lola got up and opened the door with a smile. “Hey. What’s up?” She asked honestly.

It was Merle’s curiosity at the giggles and laughter in the abandoned tent that brought him to it. His shadows swirled around him as he peaked his head in, his nose automatically picking up the scent. His heart fluttered, his eyes half lidded as he stepped in. Her words were missed as he continued to walk, his shadows turning into the shapes of hearts as the seemed to flutter around the tent. “What are you doing in here…it’s so divine. The scent…” That’s when he saw her, the one in the tent giggling. “Mon dieu…”

Lola’s eyes widened as she watched Merle walk further into the tent. She feared that this would not be good and it was confirmed but the hearts forming in the boys shadows. Then he looked at her. Just that sent a hot red blush up to her cheeks as she put her hands in front of her. “No, no, no. This is a mistake.” Her voice came out quickly as she tried to shake of the scent. Her hands shook at where they rested. This was why she practiced alone. Her nerves made it impossible for her to drop the aroma. The fragrance was to strong and all she could concentrate on was not hurting the man in front of her.

Lola felt the fragrances swirling around her as she itched for the perfect combination. Sometimes she liked coming into an abandoned tent just to practice. It was helpful being alone when she tried conjuring influential scents. Honestly, it scared her that she was able to make people follow commands are send them into a trance. It seemed unnatural. But still she knew it was good to practice, incase she ever needed to use it. As she managed the perfume around like one would a potion, the moment she got it right she knew it. She could feel it tingle her fingertips. A scent to mimic love. A laugh left her lips but quickly it vanished as she noticed someone walking in to the tent. “No! Wait!. Don’t.” Lola warned but it was to late.
