Aaron moved to the couch and tucked himself neatly in the corner of it, back resting against the arm so he could face her. She seemed uncomfortable, or at the very least feeling awkward. He felt one of the best ways to make her feel better was to take her up on her offer, since he wasn’t feeling weird about this at all. “Yeah, actually can I get a glass of water?” He asked. “You can tell me where the cups are and I can get it myself if you want, you don’t have to get up.”
She told him she was going to take her gloves off, but it was almost like she was asking his permission to do so. He shrugged. “Yeah go for it, it’s your house.” He laughed slightly. He wasn’t the slightest bit afraid. Then again, Aaron’s fear Level was minimum to none, since he was hardly scared of anything at all. They’d met less than an hour ago, and since he could maintain abilities for four hours so he was in the clear. He had become lost in his own thoughts for a moment, but when he snapped back into reality, she had her hands resting palms up. It seemed like an awkward way to sit, it looked like she handled her hands as if they were knives, but he guessed she was used to it. They were weapons after all, weren’t they?
He was able to hide his surprise when he saw the black mark on her palm; he knew exactly what that meant. How rare was it to know of one sequence, let alone three? “That’s a weird place for a tattoo.” He commented, forcing a little bit of a laugh. He shook his head. “What do you suggest we do?”
Scout hopped off the couch as she remembered he asked for water. “I’ll get it. It’s fine.” She rushed out, moving quickly to her tiny kitchenette beside the front door. Mindlessly, she took one of her crappy plastic cups and filled it from the faucet. Her mind wandered as she thought of ways to figure out how she could touch him. He said he was able to mimic others abilites. Maybe, they should start with something less fatal effects when absorbed. Turning off the facuet, Scout grabbed two metal spoons from the counter and returned to the couch.
Wordlessly, she handed him the water and sat back down on the couch. Biting on her bottom lip, the redhead fiddled with the utensils in her hand before finally turning her gaze back to the stranger. “Okay. I have an idea. You can mimic what I can do. Well, the only other thing I can really do besides what you experienced on the bus is this. I can absorb metal or really just anything dense enough, I guess. It’s not automatic though. I just have to think about doing it and - here I’ll show you.” Scout said, putting down one of the spoons between them before grasping the other spoon with both hands.
After just a second, she opened them, and instead of revealing a spoon, there was just a coat of metal around her fingers. “It wears off after a while. This will probably only last ten minutes because it was so small. I can move it around, so it goes where I want.” And she demonstrated, as the metal from her fingertips, surprisingly fast, raced away from her hands before reappearing as an uneven blotch on her neck, setting finally on her cheek. “It still acts like it would.” She said, tapping on the metal blotch with her fingertip, causing a clacking sound. Slowly, she moved the metal down off of her face, placing it over her heart.
“You can try this first, and if you get it, we can try something else,” Scout said with a tight-lipped smile. Honestly, the reason she was doing this was just to make sure he was right. That he was just mimicking her. That she wouldn’t hurt him if she touched him because even though she saw it happen just minutes ago, a small part of her still did not believe it was true.
