“I was on patrol and I saw this child in a basket in the chilly weather. So, I brought her into the precinct.” He said, his fully onyx eyes never leaving as his smile never faded.
“She was just left in a basket?” Acadia blinked a few times and eyed the child, her grip loosening on the box of sweets she had brought by the precinct. When they lifted to him again she smiled softly, the expression more uncharacteristically nervous than anything else. “You’re looking at her the way someone does an abandoned puppy. If you’re planning on keeping her you get to explain that to Sinclair.”
seethedemonini:
“All of my tattoos are personal, and both of you are important…reason for the tattoo. I got this without you guys because this was mine, but you brought up a good point. We should make it ours…but all three of us.” He pointed out, watching as she dug the hole for the tree. There was much for him to do after this with the soil and even the clean up, but he wanted to get this done. Adah deserved her own little forest, even if it was just a few different trees.
Smiling to Acadia and chuckling a bit, he looked back to her and nodded. “That is me saying that, yes. But I’m sure all three of us can work on a menu. We just have to let him know we can’t be any part of the meal, including dessert.” He said, chuckling a bit. He knew the best way to control Sinclair was to exclude sex when it came to plans. But, even then, he was sure Acadia and Sinclair would enjoy that together in their own way. Though, as she mentioned the tattoo again, he sighed softly and shook his head. “How come you want it to be just me when you get it? Are you not wanting Sinclair there?” Stefan asked, picking up the tree and waiting for her to finish the hole. Though, as he heard that she was happy to know Stefan was helping Adah, he smiled and nodded. “I love Adah, she is family to me despite her species. I would do anything for her, just as I would do anything for all of the Cirque and my lovers.”
“We can’t even be part of dessert?” Acadia scoffed dramatically, lower lip sticking put some. “You’re no fun, but fiiine. I'll think up some ideas when we get home, but for sure we need to have this red wine called menage a troi, it’s a blend but I think he’d approve of the name since we’re off the menu.” She laughed softly but her expression soon faded. She waited until after the hole was dug before stepping aside and talking again.
“It’s not that I don’t want him there. If he’s there, that’s great. I just want to get it done. You should know by now I’m not a patient person. It’s one of my worst attributes.” Acadia turned away and wiped her forehead on the back of her arm. Her body was already overheated and the temperature only made it worse, the idea of an ice bath suddenly sounding pleasant. “I know you do, I love her too, and yes you can tell her that. We’re a family, the Cirque. Well, everyone is to me except you and Sinclair, only because it’d be a bit weird to say two people that are family also happen to be my lovers.”
“It’s summer. So that means it’s swimsuit season.”
“Swimsuit season? As in...You believe in those?” Acadia laughed and crossed her arms. “Here I was thinking you believed in skinny dipping only.”

Taking the box and placing it on his right shoulder easily, he looked over to her and nodded. “The bottles are a good idea. My Sire has one in his kitchen that he made out of that one liquor with the skull-shaped bottle. It’s pretty fuckin’ cool.” Though, as she put up her hair and initiated for him to talk, he sighed and nodded. “Yeah, yeah. I’ll tell ya.” Nipping his bottom lip, he started to head away from the bar while keeping his eyes ahead of them. “I had a date the other day that turned out incredibly shitty. The guy showed up looking like he just woke up, it was eight in the evening and he smelled like he was just so fucking hungover. I tried to salvage it, but then he wandered off after he saw someone he knew. I was so mad that I punched him in the face and went on a long walk for the entire night.”
“I think I have that bottle somewhere. Have you seen a bottle of Vodquila?” Acadia laughed. “I’d love something made from that!” Her laughter soon died down as he started to explain. After a moment she sighed deeply and leaned in to bump her shoulder against his. “I’m sure I should shake my finger at you and tell you that punchin’ someone is frowned upon, but he deserved it. I’m sorry people suck. Look, it’s nothin’ against you, he just doesn’t know what he missed out on.” Her nose wrinkled some and she sighed again. “I just need to be your wingwoman, I think.”

Taking in her expression and what was in the box, he held out his free hand as he put out his cigarette while he thought of her question. “Give me the box and I’ll tell ya.” He said, waving his hand to let her know that he wanted the box. Their friendship was a strange one, despite where they both originated from, but their connection to secrecy always bound them. He smiled faintly again, still waiting for the box.
“I’m perfectly capable of holding it.” Acadia spoke up in mild defense but a moment later found herself handing over the box. “Relax, they’re empty. I’m takin’ them home for a project. Thought Maia would find it badass to have a bottle of Jack Daniels set up for the bathroom soap dispenser or a Patron one in the kitchen with dish soap.” The bout of creativity had come to her days before, it just came down to patiently waiting until she had enough empty bottles to make up for the inevitable mistakes that would happen. “Alright,” she huffed once the box had been handed over, pausing to fish a hair tie out of her pocket and pull her hair up in a messy bun. “You goin’ to tell me yet?”
Cole was avoiding the heat, especially with summer being here, so he was sitting outside of O Positive since the place had closed just a few minutes ago. Taking a drag of his cigarette, he looked over to his side when he heard the door open. “Oh, hey.” He uttered, giving a faint smile as he slowly stood up. “Let me get the door for you.” Cole grabbed the handle and held it open, trying to be friendly despite his own slight sorrow.
“Thanks,” Acadia huffed softly, turning so she was no longer using her back to push open the door while juggling a box full of empty liquor bottles. “Hey you--” It took her a moment to realize who held the door for her but her own small smile faded as she looked over his features. “Alright, spill,” she said and rested the box against her hip, weight shifting to her opposite leg. “...What’s wrong?”
seethedemonini:
“I do and so do you.” He said, enjoying their hands together as he looked over to the trees to the side. There was much to still do and it was still early. They could finish it sooner than later. “I think it’s best if we finish this. The tattoo can always be done, but those trees need to be in the ground before they dry out.” He said, enjoying the lips on his knuckles before bringing her hand up to his lips to kiss the top of it gently. “I love you and you can get the tattoo. Just wait, please? I want Sinclair to be there as well.”
Starting to walk towards the tree, his grip tightened on her hand as he thought of this little project. “I want all three of us to have a night together. Where it’s just us and we can eat together and talk and watch a movie. I pick the movie and it’ll be Kung Fu Hustle.” He said, laughing softly as he finally let go of her hand and gestured to the “x” he marked in the ground just a foot away from the tree. “Go ahead and start digging there. I’ll get another shovel to make the next hole.”
Acadia’s sudden excitement didn’t seem to waiver with Stefan’s insistence to finish the job. Her patience wasn’t known to be an outstanding trait but the Sprite had managed to channel some of it and his explanation made sense. “Fine,” she murmured with a soft smile, casting a glance to the trees but quick to look back at him. The smile lasted through him kissing her hand but faded at his next suggestion. “We weren’t there when you got yours done...” It was the only protest she gave as her hand loosened in his and she followed towards the other trees.
“Stefan Sala--” Acadia rounded in him, a smirk quick to break through her mock shock. “Is that your way of saying you want us all to have a date? Since you picked the movie I get to pick what to cook that night. I would say Sinclair could pick the menu but he’d just say one of us.” She laughed and followed his motion, setting to work without hesitation. Castor certainly had brought out a different side of her, a more caring one when it came to those from the Cirque - Years ago she would have laughed out loud at the idea of planting trees for someone or doing anything that didn’t benefit her in some way. “I can dig, you plant, and then we can...Oh, I don’t know, go help each other clean off and go get my tattoo.” Acadia flashed a quick grin his way before getting back to work, not speaking up again until after she had made some progress. By then her expression had considerably softened, gaze affectionate when it fell back on him. “Okay first off, you’re going to make me in to such a sap. Second, it’s nice that you’re doing this for Adah. I’m---I don’t know if proud is the right word, but it’s great to see you doing this for her.”
seethedemonini:
“You and Sinclair both have that need to see me growly and sweaty.” He said with a roll of his eyes, chuckling a bit since he knew what she was thinking about. Both Sinclair and Acadia were usually throwing innuendos at him, something the Wrath Demon is very much used to. Once the tree was done being covered with dirt at it’s roots, Stefan dusted off his hands and was about to speak when he felt those dirty hands on his cheeks. Kissing her back and letting her pull away, he smiled warmly and shrugged.
“I love you, too.” It was all he needed to say, his body rising up from it’s original position. Another kiss followed and he smiled even brighter. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for those two, the two who held his heart. A dirt-cladded hand was held out to her, showing that he was letting her know that he wanted to help her up. “You want to get one done just like mine? Or would you want one that represents us in your own way? You know, something that reminds you of us?”
"You have your needs, I have mine.” Acadia shamelessly grinned. Her tendency to be vulgar wasn’t a secret but she had, it seemed, toned it down and chose her words carefully. An effort had also been made to mind who she spoke around in such a way, and being just outside of Adah’s home was enough for Acadia to mind her words.
Her smile widened when his own expression brightened. Without hesitation she took his hand with one of her own warm ones, fingers lacing through his and the connection used to pull the two closer. “That one. It’s perfect and having the same one is another connection to you. Why didn’t you tell me you got it done?” She lifted his hand to her mouth and gently kissed along the tattoo he had there, not minding the dirt that transferred to her lips. “We can hurry up with the other trees or come back later, I doubt Adah would mind if we took a break to go be saps.”
seethedemonini:
“Of course. She deserves a forest for all that she has done for us. That and it’ll provide shade as the years pass.” He said, smiling to her and quickly getting to work on the dirt. This was only hole number one, there were two more to go. “A personal show, hm? You should really catch me while I’m drunk and at home. I get too hot for clothes. They just come flying off and I growl and sweat. It is not pretty.” Stefan chuckled again, knowing he loved drinking since he usually felt less guilt and less sadness for what happened to those he cared about. But, with Acadia and Sinclair around, he didn’t really need it at all.
Hearing her question, though, he furrowed his brows and looked up just in time to see her nodding at his chest. Looking down and wiping at it as if she were mentioning a bruise or smudge of dirt, he remembered the tattoo he got. Rolling his eyes and smiling brightly, he pointed to it with his dirtied hand. “It is new. It is for the three of us. Sinclair, you, and then me. I love what we have, it feels infinite. It’s sappy and nothing like what one would expect, but it’s true.” He said, looking up to her with a smile again.
As the years pass. Acadia’s expression softened and she ducked her head. It was another sign that Castor had truly become their home and the anxiety that came with it had now vanished, entirely replaced with a warmth that spread through her at the thought. Though his description of an all too enjoyable sight had her laughing and nipping at her lower lip. “Fuck, keep describing that and I’ll be making sure we work up a sweat.” She grinned, mischievous as ever but not letting the conversation distract her too much from the task at hand. It was certainly a sight to be seen, Acadia smiling and joking around so easily. In the end it was those closest to her that she had to thank for all of it, especially her two Demons.
It wasn’t until he started to explain the tattoo that she finally stopped and gave him her full attention. She smiled again and sat back on her heels, the expression genuine and wide enough that the corners of her eyes creased and she was sure in time her cheeks would hurt. “Damnit, Stefan.” The Sprite leaned in and cupped his cheeks in her dirt covered hands, kissing him deeply and still smiling after she slowly pulled back. “I fucking love you, but you’re going to make me a big puddle of just...Sap and lovey-dovey emotions.” She grinned and kissed him once more before getting back to packing the dirt in around the tree. “What do you say to taking me to go get that done when we’re done here?”
seethedemonini:
Hearing her jokes and knowing she was leering at him, he chuckled and handed her the shovel. “It’s not regular landscaping. Adah wanted a tree and I found one she liked. I decided to plant a couple of them. Just keep digging a bit deeper and I’m going to pick up the tree.” Taking off his shirt since he was already sweating through it, he tossed it on top of his tools and leaned forward to pick up the tree from the bottom. Once he had, he slowly walked over with it and waited for her to finish digging.
“You would enjoy such a show. All you need is a margarita and Sinclair to make it a complete audience.” He joked back, laughing softly as he nodded at the hole. “It’s deep enough.” Dropping the tree down, he got to a knee and waved for her to help him push the soil into the hole.
“She wanted a tree so you’re giving her her own personal forest...” Acadia teased and set to work with the shovel. Her eyes lifted in time to catch him removing his shirt and immediately fell on the tattoo she wasn’t familiar with, thin brows pinching in. She opened her mouth to question him but stopped, choosing to wait until he was back before she’d find a time to question it.
“Sinclair can get his own show, I’d prefer a personal one. Y’know, like they have at the strip club but without the overpriced alcohol or lap dance. Not that I’d mind that...” The joking came easily and she winked, all too amused at their banter. She placed the shovel aside and knelt down by him to help, not seeming bothered by her hands getting dirty as she filled in the space around the tree. “So....What is that? New?” She nodded to his chest, the corner of her mouth turning up as she looked at it closer.
The heat was intense, but it was something Stefan loved. To him, it felt like home, it felt like Hell. Working on her lawn to keep it clean and help her some, he started to dig a hole to put in a new tree for her. That’s when he heard someone come up to him, his brow raising as he kept his gaze down. “Did you want to help?”
Acadia still had yet to make up her mind when it came to how she viewed the heat. One minute she loved it, the next she was fed up with it and how her own body heat only intensified it all. In the end she was left spending her days in shorts and with her mess of hair tied up in a messy knot on top of her head. If she could opt to walk around in nothing she’d gladly do it, but a trip to Adah’s did not warrant such a dress code - or lack of one.
“I was more or less just planning on enjoying the show,” she said with a grin as she wandered up, not bothering to hide her wandering gaze when she looked him over. After a beat she shrugged and stepped forward, one hand reaching for the shovel. “I didn’t realize you were in to landscaping. What do you need me to do?”
