Consent is Not a "Preference"

Let me share some screenshots of a conversation I had last night.

Now, I do want to preface this by mentioning that this person, earlier in the conversation, did not understand what I meant when I asked if they were a subject or a switch, so I was assuming they are relatively new to the community. However, when confronted with an idea and experience different than their own, they got pretty defensive, so it makes me wonder what their experience has been.

Regardless, this conversation gives me the perfect opportunity to address the topic of consent. I know people are probably sick of hearing about consent, but since it's such an important topic, and especially since I'm still having issues where people are trying to do things with me without my consent, I have to keep talking about it.

CONSENT IS NOT A PREFERENCE, IT IS A NECESSITY. Even if it's one of those posts that gives everyone blanket consent to drop you whenever, that is still giving consent. IF YOU DO NOT GET CONSENT, THAT IS MUTHAFUCKIN RAPE, Y'ALL. I don't know how much clearer I can say it than that.

And I do want to address something we don't always talk about: dominants are not the only ones capable of violating consent. This guy was a strongly sub-leaning switch. And I had another strongly sub-leaning switch drop into subspace "for me" this week, thrusting his submission and the responsibility for his mental well-being into my hands without my consent or even expressed desire. I did not want either of these things, and yet they were pushed upon me by two people who, knowing how it is to be a submissive, should have known better.

So this holiday season and incoming new year and new decade, let's work on getting consent. Let's work to make this community safe, sane, and consensual.

It actually really bugs me when total randos just send some ostensibly hypnotic trigger to me, with no preamble. I love the idea of being randomly triggered, and heck, even public hypno shenanigans. But…with that said, it’s beyond uncool to not speak with a prospective subject first, and both acquire consent….and make sure that your kinks are in alignment.
