🌞What Is Litha?

🌻 Litha is the celebration of the longest day and the shortest night of the year. The sun god is thriving and at his most vibrant peak, giving warmth to the earth and growth all around. We are celebrating the potential and successes that surround us. From now on the days will begin to become shorter again and darkness will begin to take over. The summer and warmth are still sticking around for a while, though, and it is still a very happy occasion. We are celebrating the pregnancy of the Triple Goddess with the Horned God. The Oak King is currently ruling the waxing half of the year while the Holly King is ruling the waning half of the year. The Holly King and the Oak King are battling with each other and the Holly King will eventually overrule the Oak King. Litha is a time for important magick and major spell work that needs to be put into action; It’s the best time to complete any huge magickal workings that need tackling. Before the darker days return, we must celebrate.

🌻 Litha comes at such a positive time of year and your celebrations will reflect this.

🌞Activities

🌻 Tackle the most challenging and most anticipated spells and rituals at midsummer, the ones that require the most energy from you; what better time to do it than when the world’s energies are at their peak! It’s the best time of the year for rituals to do with fire,faery magick, love, passion, energy and luck for the warmer times to come.

🌻 It’s also a good time to renew any tools or create or purchase any extra magickal tools you may require.

🌻Throw a midsummer bonfire or have a fire ritual. Or organize an outside gathering to simply enjoy the sun! There are loads of different ways that you can do this, a traditional midsummer bonfire would (obviously) be outside, although if this is not an option, a wood burner inside would also be fine. Burn pieces of old oak, light them on the evening before midsummer, then let them burn out as they reach the morning. It is also common to scatter herbs on the fire. Some Wiccans also burn the nine sacred types of wood (birch, rowan, ash, alder, willow, hawthorn, oak, holly and hazel) to bring them good luck and a good harvest. During the midsummer bonfire they would jump over the fire, then let the fire burn down completely and sometimes collect ashes from the fire and scatter them on the fields or on their herb garden to bring good fortune in the harvesting season coming in the near future. You could also keep some ashes for luck within spell work or rituals.

🌻 Create a god’s eye: it is typically made from wool or string and its purpose is to give protection and luck for the darker and colder days to come. Hang the god’s eye above your altar or on your door.

🌻 Go for a walk and enjoy the peak of summer! Collect things from the natural world that you need for magickal workings and to place at your altar. Have a picnic or barbecue or even just go to the beach or go for a bike ride.

🌻 If you work with the fae or just like to appreciate them, midsummer is the time for the faery rede. At this time, the fae will be riding magickal animals across the countryside, so hang out, either outside your house or in a nearby field, Bells and offerings such as sparkly decorations and food can be used to create the perfect area for the fae.

🌞Altar Ideas

🌻 Light green, yellow, gold and red candles to represent the sun god at his peak and the green earth at its fullest.

🌻 Decorate your altar with summer flowers such as sunflowers, carnations,poppies and hydrangeas.

🌻 Place a ring of flowers around your altar or around specific items for protection.

🌻 Pictures of the sun or ornaments symbolizing the sun honour the sun god being at his peak.

🌻 Oak leaves represent the Oak King, who has been ruling for this hald of the year, but will be laid to rest soon. Oak in different forms can be relevant to Litha.

🌻 Gold, yellow and orange ribbons and cloth can be draped at your altar.

🌻 Warm-colored vegetables such as butternut squash,sweet potatoes, carrots and tomatoes are all great to eat around this time of the year. They represent warmth and the wonderful produce we receive from the summer.

Smoke Cleansing With Wood

Smoke Cleansing. For most of us, Our first thought, Or go to would be white sage And While sage is great to use, It is to often relied on as the cure all and the only option. There are so many other herbs, and barks around us to use for their cleansing smoke that they are easy to overlook.  

My favorite wood to use is Palo Santo (Holy Wood from Peru) But not everyone has access to that. And for this reason, I present to you all, (SOME) common Woods, And their magical correspondences.

Also note that the fallen leaves from these trees can also be used to smoke cleanse. Grind them up, And burn on charcoal. 

Birch-  Purification, Blessing, Protection, Expel negative Spirits

Cedar- Cleanses negative atmospheres

 Holly-  Purity, strength, Protection

Hawthorn- marriage, love and protection.

Juniper- Protection, and clears negativity 

Oak- healing, strength, money

Take your time

Yes it is a lot of information to take in. But remember: you have your whole life to learn this stuff. If you try to rush through it, you won't retain the info very well and that takes the fun out of actually learning about witchcraft.

You can treat it like school. Make a schedule. Write down all the things you want to learn and give yourself a different amounts of time to learn each 'subject'. That way you can go at your own natural pace and learn all you want to know in an organized matter.

Right now I'm taking time to learn tarot and the dark arts. I want to give myself until summer to learn this and take notes. Then I move on.

✨so, you’re a newbie witch✨

you can be either a girl, a boy, or something fluid. you can be christian, buddhist, hindu, atheist. you can be of any colour, sexuality, background. you can also be a witch.

witchcraft isn’t a religion! many people think witches worship satan, or do other dark stuff. this is not the case at all! witchcraft is a craft, practicing, manipulating energy, connecting with your higher and inner self, becoming a better human being that respects nature and hurts no one.

wiccans are pagan witches, and these actually have a religion, paganism. so please don’t confuse the terms witch and wiccan, like i did!

by saying that, your religion has nothing to do with your craft. you can still be a buddhist and practice witchcraft!

moving on. you’re probably a bit lost, huh? in the beginning, everyone’s confused. there are so many topics to be covered! worst thing is, each and every one of them are extremely interesting. so my advice is, take it easy! you have plenty of time, basically all your life to learn the craft.

firstly, learn yourself. it’s important to find your witch path and continue in it. which one will it be? green witch? crystal witch? kitchen witch? sea witch? nocturnal witch? all these paths await for you. choose the one that catches your eye and do it, you funky witch! and these aren’t just the paths. they are too many of them to write them down.

it’s also perfectly normal to not pick a path from now, or change paths in your journey. i have changed many paths, and in a very short span of time!

then, read. you might want to start casting spells from the moment you become a witch, but it’s not very convenient! (but do it if ya want, it’s all about experimenting) learn about the history of witches. learn the correspondences of the colours, study the moon phases, learn about herbs. sounds tedious, but you will have a strong base to practice later!

it’s also useful to find a divination method. tarot cards, pendulum, rune stones, tasseography, palmistry, and more, are excellent and common ways to practice divination and connect with your inner self. the key is practice, practice, practice!

also, start a grimoire, or a book of shadows as many call it. it’s a book where you can write down useful stuff and your progress in your journey. it doesn’t have to be anything fancy, just a school notebook can do the trick.

moving on to the stuff you need. you truthfully need to spend zero money to become a witch. crystals, fancy jars, expensive stuff sure are aesthetic and nice to see, but the magick comes from within you! don’t be afraid to pick up things from the street that you were drawn to, pick up flowers, and many more little actions that make you feel witchy.

but if you want stuff, there are some that every witch needs. these aren’t obligatory, just to boost your energy.

many jars!

a lot of candles in different colors! if you can’t find other colors or you can’t afford them, white candles are a substitute for every color.

a small piece of clear quartz. really inexpensive, can be extremely useful for many things, and can substitute for every crystal.

moon water! very easy. put tab water in a glass jar, close it, and leave it under the light of a full moon for an entire night. boom, moon water!

sigils! sigils are scribbles that attract certain things we want. i’ll make a post about them, since they are very fun to make and very efficient!

sage. sage is amazing for cleansing energies, and it’s very efficient. if you can’t find it, use incense! i use lavender incense.

a book of shadows! a notebook can be used for this one. inexpensive and useful!

salt, for cleansing and banishing.

i think these are the most important ones. baby witches, you can do this! i hope i’ve helped. pardon me, i’ve made this too big. to whoever has read until here, you’re the real deal. that’s it for today!

🍃When magicians talk about the elements, they don’t mean the periodic table you learned about in school. They’re referring to the four elements- air,earth,water,fire- that make up the natural world and beyond. Since ancient times, myths and legends have spoken about supernatural beings who fly through the air, burrow beneath the earth, or swim in the ocean’s depths. But these magical creatures don’t simply reside in these regions; they serve as guardians and ambassadors of their respective realms. Some people might describe them as energetic forces rather than specific entities, and they go by different names in different mystical traditions. In Eastern mysticism, divine beings known as devas (similar to angels or minor deities) direct the nature spirits. In the fairy world, the three most popular elementals are known as sylphs, sprites, and water nymphs. Fire fairies called salamanders also show up from time to time, but they’re less prevalent.

🍃 SYLPHS: AIR ELEMENTALS 🍃

🍃 Tinker bell and her flying friends fall into this category of nature spirits. But sylphs aren’t just cute and delicate winged beings, as contemporary films and children’s book portray them- they handle lots of things related to the air and sky. In addition to possessing the ability to fly, sylphs have the power to manipulate the winds, influence air quality, and help earthlings breathe- some sources say they’re busy cleaning up chemtrails these days. The also assist birds and flying insects.

🍃 SPRITES: EARTH ELEMENTALS  🍃 

🍃 Those little green guys you see in the garden are probably sprites (though not all sprites are green or little.) Earth elementals include a large cast of characters, such as tree guardians,gnomes,dryads, and some pixies and elves. These nature spirits aid the growth of flowers,trees, and other plants- if you look closely , you might spot them sitting in a tree or resting beneath a blackberry bush.When autumn comes, they change from green to red,orange,and gold. Earth elementals also play an important role in helping the earth heal from the effects of pollution, deforestation, mining, and other forms of destruction.

🍃 WATER NYMPHS: WATER ELEMENTALS  🍃 

🍃 Also known as undines, these spirits splash about in the waters of the world. Mermaids fall into this category, too. Usually depicted as beautiful young females, water nymphs perform a variety of tasks, from nourishing life on earth to regulating the tides to inspiring artists and poets. They also protect fish and aquatic creatures and- if they choose- guide humans on sea voyages. In recent times, these elementals have been working hard to offset the effects of water pollution and the destruction of marine habitat.
