East End Avenue, New York City, 1949 - by Dan Weiner (1919 - 1959), American
i have had reason to consider the 1890 renumbering of east end avenue (formerly avenue b) and this (64 east end avenue) looked like it might be old enough to have had an avenue b address. so i did some poking around and...
1600-1614 avenue b (shown on 1891 landmap at left) were renumbered to 60-74 east end avenue (shown on 1898 landmap at right). fun! 60-66 east end (and some other midblock buildings) were replaced by a 42-story apartment building in the late 60s/early 70s. (the initial filing was in 1968, but the building wasn't competed until 1973. the architect changed at some point in the process, from russell m. boak to philip birnbaum.) also, for some goddamn reason, 60-66 east end legally dropped the 62-66 and now only has one numeral on that streetfront: 60. (weird and annoying for my filing system that generally takes into account full address ranges.)
here is another ca. 1940 shot of 62-66 east end (formerly 1602-1606 avenue b) for good measure:

i can open my late library book. there isn't even a date stamp to look at and feel guilty about. i have an abundance of filmoplast to fix the small tear in the cover i unintentionally exacerbated. lightning will not strike me if i have to flip back some pages to remind myself of what is happening. i can open my late library book and read it for 20 minutes.
i did it :)

sheesh!
this is not all of them and i will probably make a similar post with better pictures. but if anyone in the nyc area is interested in taking two kittens (from a litter of six) this summer, hit me up! i found the mom (also pictured, not up for grabs) shaking on the stoop a few months ago, and my housemates were kind enough to take her in and nurse her back to health. in the middle of this, she did give birth to six kittens, which was an interesting morning for all involved (surprise!).

hello
shout out to the fourth of july when i was... 11? and a part of a plastic rocket a neighbor shot off landed on my shoulderblade and created a gnarly burn/scrape-looking injury. one of several times something bad happened to my body that i was unaware of in the moment, requiring subsequent detective work to figure out what the fuck happened to me!
