What do you mean you wrote less-orthodox essays? What constitutes a less orthodox essay?

Idk how much I agree with that now, but like, for example, I wrote about bus rides for band in my Stanford "expand on an extracurricular" essay. I used bus rides to talk about how getting to something (the hard work, collaboration, whatever) is more important than the destination to me. Ask off anon if you want more info

Hi thank you! First, it’s important to know that at these schools there are many, MANY over-qualified applicants. Also, it’s very hard to judge myself because we all have different situations. That being said:-I have a very high GPA and test scores

-I wrote less-orthodox essays. I answered the prompts completely but I used allegory and structural devices. As cliche as it sounds, I let my personality and vulnerability show.

-I didn’t have very many extra-curriculars or any global/national awards, but I was very involved with my activities and they were both relevant to my future and relevant to my other interests.

-I used words like sexy, sultry, and Pokemon.

sorry if this is an insufficient answer, it’s a deceptively hard question!

A few updates

So yesterday i got into usc and stanford That's pretty cool :))) A while back i passed auditions for IWU and UNT as well. The college application process has treated me well. I haven't had much time to keep up with this blog, but thanks everyone for helping me get sorted out last summer and the fall :)

it was fine. could have been better, but i couldn't really breathe because i conveniently got a cold yesterday. and also i couldn't practice at all last week.
