Chapter 13 - Que Sera, Sera
[previous chapters]
Itâs been forever since I update this story and I want to apologize for that. I got really distracted lately with uni work and transferring and all other crap. But hey itâs for a better future, no?
I did say two weeks or more. Of course I end up with âmoreâ instead. Cheers x
Marco couldnât help the smile plastered on his face ever since they left Gladbach. He called Marcel last night, checking in and making sure that everyone is in town when he visited. He meant to call Tori, but surprising her with his appearance wouldnât be the first time. And he loves to see the terrified look on her face.
Marco did mention about his companion, yet he wasnât giving enough information to Marcel either. It would be another pleasant surprise to them.
When he entered the city of Dortmund border, he felt nostalgic. Home is always where your heart belongs.
He planned to stay there for a night and did mention that to Gina. She hesitates with the plan so he would have to drive back before midnight. She told him that she doesnât like to leave her brother alone. Bringing Gabe as her reason made Marco understood her.
âWell, this is it⌠My hometown.â He made another turn and stop in front of an apartment building. âWe will make a quick stop here and then I will want to introduce you to my number one best friend.â
Gina stood for a few heartbeats, taking in and admiring the view. âNice place to grow up to.â
âOh yes, indeed. Now donât tell these losers I said theyâre not number one. But thatâs the truth. She knew me since we were in diapers.â Marco giggled at the thought of Tori meeting Gina. Heâs sure that she would like her.
âShe?â
âYep. Sheâs a daughter of my momâs best friend. So basically we grew up together. That also includes my sisters, by the way. So I practically grew up with three sisters.â
Gina nodded and hopped off the car. It didnât take long until the guys in question were standing proudly in front of her and introducing themselves or more like embarrassing themselves.
She found it easy and relaxing to be around them. She was starting to enjoy their company and jokes when Marco announced that they had to leave.
âWhere are you going again?â Marcel questioned.
âToriâs. I didnât tell her Iâm in town, but you know if she finds out hell will break loose. So I better stop by before seeing Nico.â He explained.
Robin, who just walks in with another beer in hand speak up. âI think you need to call her first. Didnât she have that charity her company hosting?â
âOh, right, yes. And moreover, she was seen with Hummels a lot lately.â Marcel added.
âHummels? My NT teammate Mats?â
âThe one and only.â Marcel shrugged the answer and Robin nodded his approval.
âWell, I will find out more about it when I get to her house then.â
It was going to be an interesting visit if she is with MatsâŚ

âTori, it looks⌠gorgeous!â
Mats found himself keeping an eye on his date for the night, Tori.
Thanks to his help âand Otto, of course, Tori managed to pull the fundraising slash charity event. Still with Stefanâs help as well, but mostly because Mats helped her to get the players showed up.
âThanks, Stefan. You did great as well. I wouldnât take so many credits.â Tori replied. To her surprise, her feelings towards him totally vanished. âThis is Mats Hummels, in case you donât know.â
âHow could I?â Stefan opened up his hand, in the gesture of a friendly handshake, but he knew it wouldnât be as friendly since the other guy practically eyeing him as a potential threat. If only he knew better⌠âPleasure to meet you.â
Mats accepted the handshake. His gaze is nowhere near warm. He could tell thereâs something between the two, something more than what Tori willing to give up. âNice to meet you, too.â
Truth to be told, Tori didnât even ask Mats to escort her. He was the one who willingly pick her up from her house, came early to the venue with her. He is on a mission, to win the little ladyâs heart.
âWell, Iâll catch up with you two later, Tori⌠MatsâŚâ Stefan left them to check for more details before the event started.
Tori checked her watch for the tenth time. Once sheâs sure that everything is set and ready to go, she went to the event staff room where she left her clothes to change and other âwar weaponsâ as she calls it.
It was a casual event, so Mats has his slack, button downs shirt, and a cardigan on. And he has been ready ever since he picked Tori up.
âMats?â Tori poked her head out of the room. She knew Mats would be around the door. None of his teammates were there yet since the event itself wonât start for another hour.
âYeah?â He was leaning right next to the door. And God forbid if Tori had to say it out loud, but he looks gorgeous.
âAre you sure you have all my bag in here? âCause I canât find my dress.â
âI brought everything from my car here. Iâm sure there isnât any bag left in there.â
âShit. I mustâve left it on top of my couch.â How forgetful can one be? But then again, she has a very valid excuse to be absent-minded.
Mats checked his watch. âDid you leave something? I can go get it if you want. We still have thirty minutes before people start showing up.â He offered.
Tori thought about it for a second. She had that dress prepared and not willing to get another one in such a short notice. âUgh, yes please. I donât want to get another one since I already have that prepared.â
âAlright, give me your keys and guide me over the phone later so I can find it.â
Tori handed him the keys to her house. She was a little worried about the fact that Mats never been in her house. They had dinner, more than once even, but she hasnât invited him inside. Never.
But whoâs waiting at her house is something that she needs to worry about, not how her house looked like.
And of course, she wasnât aware of that factâŚ

âAnd this is her house.â
Marco took a wide left turn and put the car on park when he arrived at Toriâs little house. A proud smile was drawn on his face when he faces Gina.
âItâs charming,â She commented.
He got out of the car and opened the garage door using the code he knows by heart. A cheeky grin replaced his smile when he saw Toriâs car parked nicely inside, notifying him that the owner most likely to be home.
Marco fished out his keys and unlocked the garage door.
âYou have her keys?â Gina tilted her head, curiosity gets the better of her.
âYep. I know her since weâre in diapers. So her house is my house and vice versa.â He was too busy thinking of a way to surprise Tori in her house, he didnât bother to interpret the meaning behind Ginaâs question or the change on her face.
He let her in first, made her wait downstairs while he called out the only human being living in the house.
Only to his surprise, Marco couldnât find Tori anywhere. Perhaps Marcelâs little warning was true, Tori probably out with Mats.
Just in time when he pulled out his phone to dial his childhood BFF, a man stood on her front door, also on the phone.
