family dinner
â 6:40 PM // FAO SCHWARZ TEDDY BEARS
A thousand five hundredâŠÂ That was a hefty amount, even for someone like Lucia. Biting her lip she turned around to see a young woman vying desperately for the bears and compassion got the better of her; perhaps the lady wanted them for her children, or perhaps it was for another family member⊠The look on her face made it obvious that whoever she was, she would make far better use of the bears than Lucia ever would.Â
What would she have done with the bears anyway? Hug them? Place them at the end of her bed? As much as the bears were adorable, Lucia had to admit that the age when it was socially acceptable to have plush toys were long gone for her⊠Prissy would have laughed and rolled her eyes at the sight of them. Yes, perhaps it would be best not to bid for these bears. After all, it was only the beginning of the night and there were still plenty of items to bid for.
With a slight nod, Lucia turned back to face the podium, a slight smile on her face. Between the two current bidders, she hoped the lady would secure the bears. She seemed far more capable to find them a safe home than the man was.
Isaiah glanced at the Schwarz teddy bears, which were as large as those presenting them. A soft smile escaped his lips, something so unfamiliar and unknown to him, but so right at the same time. It was a smile dedicated to her, she who had claimed his tainted heart in ways heâd never understood. She was the light to his darkness, the amusement to his anger, the soft summer breeze to his heavy burden. Now was the time to reveal himself, to stand up as numbers slowly found their ways over peoples heads, the numbers being called directly afterwards. And here he found himself compelled to buy them for her, to treat her the way he always had loved to treat her. âTwo thousand!âÂ
Isaiahâs voice remained steady and focussed on his desires. Clearly he aimed to outbid her in order to hand them over as a present. His eyes searched for her and a soft and almost victorious smile followed as his eyes were moments away from becoming glossy and warm.
He wore a pitch black suit with a simple red tie to not draw any attention towards him. His intentions were clear: stay hidden as long as you can, mix with the crowd until youâve found one item youâre truly interested in. Two guards were positioned on his sides, guarding him towards the entrance and onto his seat, making sure he remained hidden, at least for most. Isaiah smirked as he heard a voice in his ear, sounding slightly metallic, different than others. Heâd placed an almost invisible earplug into his left ear to hear another person, a well educated specialist of auctionsm, just so heâd be sure which objects were actually worth the price.Â
He sat in his chair, tried to focus on the stage and not talk to anyone, but he knew theyâd soon try and go talk to him.Â
April 20th --Â OâHARA CHARITY AUCTION -- Black and red, two elegant colors perfectly matching together in such an event. He likes to be one with the crowd, especially at auction events. Isaiah wears a dot-patterned tie and a golden watch on his left wirst. You can find him (looking extremely dapper) in one of the corners, watching the auction before finally joining the party, There are two guards watching him, whereas there are also two experts are nearby, which he manipulated to advise him.Â

At this point he knew they were only being polite to cover up each otherâs demons. Maybe they were similar in a few aspects, but Isaiah knew, deep down, that those similarities were mostly based on a fake smile, bad intentions. He didnât knew much about Jasper, but what he knew meant only a certain kind of danger, which he tried to avoid at all costs. Isaiah smiled widely enough for his white teeth to make a great contrast between his skin color and his row of perfectly healthy looking teeth. His trademark, that one thing which actually stood out once he appeared before the camera. They were like weapons in an unarmed warfare.
âThey might as well just watch me while they wait.â Isaiah rolles his eyes. He didnât seemed annoyed or in any way offendes by his words. Instead he laughed, drawing people to him like a magnet and not long before voices started to emerge. âCome on, you can go. Iâll distract them.â the usual helpful self, as always.Â
In a way, he could understand the appeal: the jolliness, the laughter, the ever-lingering sense of merrinessâŠamity. Jax smiled with polite coldness, an unfamiliarity, as he looked into the face of the man who has half the world in love with his whims, and had the distinct impression that if they truly wore their emotions in their expressions, a very different front would be out on view. âI can feel people dying behind me as they wait to shake your hand - it wouldnât be very familial of me to let those stats rise, would it?â It was a dry piece of humor, but delivered in a not entirely unpleasant manner. âWell - Iâll be off then. Letâs hope this line is somewhat diminished by dinnertime, yeah?â Another resurgence of the smile as he gestures towards the shuffling masses and then he turns to leave as a rush of fans emerge to fill the vacancy.Â

Jaxâs smile didnât falter. They were wearing twin masks of false camaraderie, and though the other man was most likely, as all others, oblivious to his true feelings in the situation, it wasnât difficult to be suspicious of the grin upon Isaiahâs face. As a rule, Jax didnât trust those who were too jovial - there was a falseness to continuous merriness that had always struck him as obvious. âIâm just passing through, unfortunately. No fans to tether me to the ground.â He didnât give any hint that, even if he were going in, he still wouldnât opt to wait, no matter if it were friend or acquaintance. âThough the place can use someone like you redirecting their traffic. Who knows?â Looking over Isaiahâs shoulder at the small cafe behind him, Jax read the name out loud, âAu Bon Pain might  be getting an unexpected influx in customers today.âÂ
At this point he knew they were only being polite to cover up each otherâs demons.      âIsaiah,â he greeted, forcing a smile onto his features. Though they were by no means close, the two of them frequented a somewhat overlapping realm, what with Kitty and Rosalie and all those others that Jax had come to know. âDonât you have a pass? Peopleâll be coming up to you for autographs at this rate.â A short laugh, not entirely sincere, but not cold, either.Â
Surely he could have chosen the easy way from the back, but where would be the fun in it?  Besides showing yourself among fans sometimes had great effects and easy publicity as well. âNah -- not for a burger. Iâm just like everyone else here, Iâm not going to start a scene just because I want to eat something.â, he faked a smile before he started to laugh. âAt least I have company.â
Headcanon: Isaiah is taking Lucia to one of his special trips in which theyâre enjoying a sunny day at the zoo. After that theyâll eat ice cream and take those photos in a photo booth. (ââżââż)

âI canât even see the first person in line. Youâll be here for hours.â Coming to a stop besides them, he squints against the sun, raising one hand to emphasize his point. âSo. Are you waiting for the burgers or the fame?â
âThe burgers.â Isaiah replied abruptly before turning around to Jasper, who he hadnât heard coming. The streets had been far too noisy, so he purposely spoke louder so Jasper could hear him. âThose are the best burgers in town -- would be a shame if I wouldnât use my leisure for something simple like that.â

She liked to think there was a spell she casted â with that wide-eyed look of innocence, so convincing that even Mia herself could forget the sins her livelihood depended on. They werenât sins, though â not in her rose-coloured perception; if god hadnât wished such a life for her, why would he have presented her with a clear path that needed only her footsteps? The things she loved couldnât be wrong â not when they brought the highest caliber of euphoria known to woman, not when it was so easy to cast that irresistible spell of hers over and over again with a mere bat of her eyelashes and a well timed graze of a manâs arm.
As it seemed, even a man who could have anyone he dreamed of was far from immune to her perfectly rehearsed brand of irreproachability. She watched as he pulled a handful of dollar bills from his wallet, slipping them into the tip jar on the counter â likely twice what his black coffee was worth, but yet another sign that wealth meant nothing to men like Isaiah Jennings. No, he traded in commodities worth much more than crumpled jade-coloured bills â commodities that Mia certainly fancied herself one of. âSo generous,â she repeated with a sigh, bringing her eyes from the jar back to the man before her.
She accepted the cupcake from the barista, swirling her finger in the icing before popping the digit into her mouth, licking the dollop of vanilla clean off of her fingertip, her eyes not breaking with his for a moment as she did so. âItâs delicious,â she purred. âYou really have a gift.â With a bite of her lip, her finger dipped back into the icing once more â this time, she raised it to his lips rather than her own. âWant a taste?â she hummed. Her hand hovered before him, feet taking a slow step closer. âIf you want me to show you what I like,â she ventured, voice low, lips above his shoulder â though she had to raise herself onto her toes to do so, âI get off at two this morning.â
She chuckled, taking the napkin and slipping it into her purse. âVintage,â she chuckled, unable to account for the last time someone had handed her a phone number on pen and paper, if ever. âWell, if Iâm ever in need of that escape, Iâll give you a call.â Odds were, her craving for a chance to dissolve from her reality and into his would come sooner rather than later.
Yes, she seemed rather naive to his charms, but also fully aware of her capabilities. Her charme, her looks, her voice -- they all harmonized perfectly, leaving the impression of an almost perfect human being, a woman capable of stealing many hearts at once. She was purely based on sugar with a little bit of spice, just the right amount for him. Alas Mia had the looks of a teenager, which ultimately convinced him to keep it âG-Ratedâ. There were thoughts spinning inside of his head, pushing away all those other awful thoughts about chaos, betrayal and lies. He wasnât able to stop them nor even tried to. She was sitting there in a beautiful dress, a drink in her left, smiling at him from afar. Reality and imagination werenât too far away from one another, yet in his dreams they were alone, smiling at one another, having a good time. Right now they were watched from every angle, admired from afar.Â
Only a grin followed her words, which were the usual heart-balm he loved so much, couldnât get enough of. It all reminded him far too well of his childhood, how he had everything his heart desired, playing around and causing a few misfortunes to others. âNo big deal, really.â, he said before returning his gaze to her. It felt like ages since theyâd last seen each other -- it must have been a side effect from her addicting personality, her sweet looks.Â
For some odd reason Isaiah pressed his lips into a thin line, suddenly feeling as if tables had turned -- a very unknown and peculiar feeling for him and honestly: he hated it. No he moved in her orbit, drawn to her sweet voice and personality. Yes, he would let her in, just long enough to have his way and his way alone.Â
He laughed, tried to keep it as quiet as possible. They would talk about them, outfling their phones to shoot the best pictures possible. âYouâre a real tease.â he whispered as he watched her licking off the icing from her slender finger. Her glossy lips were tempting, so fucking tempting. He felt her breath on his neck, smelled her perfume and heard her voice vibrating next to his ear. Her words were enchanting, too good to be true. He catched himself admiring her far too much -- not a good sign for someone like Isaiah Jennings. âHey hey -- easy there.â
Isaiah softly took her hand and guided her finger close to his mouth before grabbing a tissue and wiping away the icing from her finger. He would be doomed to act imtimate with a girl of her age -- not like this. The showmaster looked around, forcing others to finally look away and mind their own business. âAs much as I appreciate your offer: Iâm probably too old for you, sugar -- and youâre certainly too young for me. You could be my ruin, you know?â he mused.
Blood, Sweat and Tears | Rosalie + Isaiah
thornofarosalie:
After being escorted to Isaiahâs office, Rosalie had begun to grow nosy, walking around the room and prodding things that she most definitely was not supposed to. Had his desk drawers not been locked, she most likely would have pulled those open as well. It wasnât until she heard his voice from the hallway did she station herself directly on his desk, crossing her legs until he waltzed in. Tilting her head to the side, Rosalie beamed as the first compliment left his lips.
Reaching out her rail-thin arms to embrace him, she gave him a kiss on the cheek, long lashes beating against his rough skin. She had agreed to the interview long before she could remember, but Infamyâs cover slots were so in demand, she had forgotten about it until the day had come and it was her turn instead. That wasnât to say she wasnât excited about it thoughâ she was, in every sense. To be further talked about, gossiped about, looked on with jealousy, she loved it all. She loved that Isaiah had come straight to her too. She respected that. And now? She was going to give the world something to talk about.
Then again, that was all before the horrific party at Milesâ had happened. Her life seemed split into two parts since; the before and the after.
Seating herself in the lounge chair opposite of his desk, she moved out of his way and perched on the arm of it, leg dangling off carelessly as she muted her phone. Her rosebud lips spread into a slow smile as she leaned forward, resting her chin on her hand. âSo, Mr. Jennings, unravel me, unwrap me⊠isnât that what youâre supposed to be doing? Seeing the real Rosalie?â she said, enunciating each word slowly with a click of her tongue. âI doubt you can figure out who I am really. Few people have ever even gotten closeâŠthough I commend the taglines your people have used to promote this cover online.â Her every movement was slow, baiting, sexy, meant to test onesâ limits and lure them back for more.
âBefore we begin, Iâd like to know a little about you,â she added with a smirk. âSo tell me, Mr. Jennings, more about you.â
Even after only five hours of sleep, two cups of coffee and a third one already in his hand, one would describe his entire mood as perfectly normal. As lively as he were no one could even imagine a sleepy Isaiah, someone so completely unable to party or entertain. There were so many great events ahead and he, by all means, wouldnât waste his time with sleeping.Â
âThe real Rosalie?â, he asked, looking puzzled as he slowly removed himself from her.  He walked behind the desk and grabbed a simple notepad before returning his gaze back towards her pretty face. âOn the contrary. Iâm sure youâre being a lot more realistic than everyone might think. Youâre strong. I certainly donât see you as a liar, if anything I see you as a very brilliant actress. Thatâs why I want to feature you in my next issue -- youâre brilliant, Rosalie, no one should ever doubt your sincerity.â, and with that he sat down, just like she did before. He always loved to interview others while looking them in the eye -- those two shining orbs were always mirrors of their inner soul, of everything they were. He loved to see the light in them, the mien while being asked very straightforward questions -- Isaiah chose to be close to everyone else but himself. If thatâs what forged his success -- well, he would never act any different than that. Close to others, indifferent to his own feelings. They were only stopping him from turning his power into a kingdom.
âIâm not here to waste your time by telling you who I am, love. Everyone knows and we both have a very tight schedule. Would be a shame for both of us to just throw away precious time. Anyway! Letâs get to the fun part! Youâll be featured on my next issue. Iâve prepared 15 questions for your and a very unqiue and beautiful photoshooting which will be features as well. Are you in?â
sugarcoatedvixen:
She wouldnât say she was trying to flirt â it just sort of happened, a reflex she couldnât control on the best of days, certainly not ones on which sheâd been instructed to play as if her relationship had never truly existed. He hadnât said it in those words exactly, of course, but sheâd understood well enough anyway. Contrary to what people believed, she wasnât stupid; she was simply selective with her valuable attention, and now, with all eyes on Charlie, it was perhaps safer for the both of them if she lavished said attention upon Isaiah. It wasnât as if the task was strenuous. He was charming, handsome, famous â turning on her own charms in return was a mere instinct, and she couldnât be blamed for biology. That was all scienceâs fault.
âYou are so right,â she nodded along, eyes wide and earnest. âGiving back is, like, so important.â It was easy to say, when sheâd spent her life on the receiving end, happily accepting the charity of the boys whose sheets she slipped between in exchange for as many nights with her as sheâd entertained before boredom struck. Granted, it hadnât all been for her. The clothes sheâd happily returned had become food for her family â but, of course, with her own mouth included. Even when she gave, she took.
Mia flashed a smile to the barista as he put in an order on her behalf, only allowing herself to take her eyes off of him for a moment out of fear that, should the shopâs patrons see him unoccupied, someone else would swoop in and swipe his attention from her. âHowâd you know thatâs my favourite?â she asked, toying with a flirtatious grin on cotton candy pink lips. âWell, if youâre going to invite me to a party, I guess that means youâll need my number.â She extended a hand for him to place his phone in, fingers drumming the inside of her palm expectantly.
After days of spending so much time on his upcoming issue -- and therefore having little to no time at all -- he finally had a chance of being free, to see Los Angeles again and attending different events. Many knew about his tight schedule every month, how he had to construct the whole magazine within a few days so everyone could easily get started, guided by his words and mails. Luckily for him heâd already established a very remarkable secondary occupation for which he was known just as well. His show were purely entertaining and he considered himself a man of many faces -- too many to count, too many for his own good. He had no one but himself to blame for his lack of time, really. But who would write the same things he wrote? Who would dare to take risks if not Isaiah himself? They were weak, mere minions writing about the issues he told them about. Â He took the fall if no one else would -- thatâs what defined him and always would.Â
He would take a risk, over and over again, until he truly had to retreat, This time he took the risk at being seen with a very charming young fan, a stranger, yet the most beautiful of them all. Her entire personality embodied naivete, the sweetest of sin and a dash of spice, which he couldnât quite describe. His lips formed a smile as he stopped to drink from his coffee, which he always took black and with two teaspoons of sugar. The barista left for a moment to work on his simple order, which gave him enough time to manipulate her into an alliance. Maybe it was worth it -- he gladly took the risk. âOh, donât worry about that. Iâm always just assuming, but most of the time people just tend to show me what they like. Itâs easier for both of us.â, he explained and took a few dollars out of his wallet, stuffing it into the tip jar. âIâm not only famous for my show or magazine, but people especially value my empathy, my interest in otherâs. You can be one of them if youâd like, cupcake.âÂ
Isaiah suddenly took a pen and napkin, writing his number onto it in order to avoid the risk of her seeing texts she shouldnât have seen. After all there were secrets and more hidden underneath a plastic case. He couldnât risk that just for a number he would get either way. âYou can call me everything if you have troubles. Iâm not a psychologist, but believe me I do have my ways of sorting out problems.â, in the end he didnât really cared that much about wether he sounded serious or not. âIâm taking pleasure in helping people, in knowing theyâre alright. You can always escape in my world if you wanna. Iâm no one without my fans, after all.â
A simple lie ------ so effective.
mephistopheles, asmodeus, baal,
mephistopheles: have you ever helped  a loved one destroy themselves?
âDo you really want to know? The answer would forever taint your outlook on life and everything you ever knew. Too many times to count, actually. I eventually destroy everything I touch.â
asmodeus: on whom do you want revenge and how would you take it?
âProbably Alfonso, but Iâm not going to get all suicidial. Would be a very risky and dumb move to seek revenge. Alfonsoâs no one to mess with.â
baal: if you were a god, how would you prefer to be worshipped?
âOh, now weâre talking! I would like to be worshipped through sacrifices, shows held in my honor and maybe a few presents send my way. Just give me the whole package. Imma take it all!â
The Adalfieriâs had been kind enough ( well honestly they had puppy dog eyed Alfonso into agreeing ) to let her crash with them for the week while her parents were away, so when Lucia had a mysterious âappointmentâ to get into and needed someone to distract the annoying men in the front of the casino from repeating yesterdayâs events, of course Prissy jumped at the chance. Claiming it was a way to show her gratefulness, when really she just adored the thought of dressing up. Slipping on an expensive dark wig, borrowing one of Lucyâs extra wheelchairs the disguised blonde was pushed thrown to the pariahs while Lucia discreetly left through the back entrance.Â
In a matter of seconds Priscilla was swarmed with flashing lights accompanied by rapidly fired questions. An amused smirk tugging at the corner of her lips, they honestly couldnât tell. Slowly, to keep them in suspense, Prissy trailed the hand resting on her cheek to the top of her faux hair. Gracefully ripping off the wig.Â
âOhâŠ..Iâm sorry, did you think I was Lucia?âÂ
He tried to stay away, he desperately demanded himself to stop thinking about Lucia and the pain he caused her through disappearing. Unknown about her current status and looks, he was forced to remember that little, bubbly girl from back then. Presents and messages were carefully sent to her by friends of his, one of them being Priscilla herself. A very fruitful union grew through mutual interest in one another, especially towards Lucia. Her well being remained his number one priority, which led him to allow Priscilla every little wish she had. Exclusive tickets, V.I.P meetings, red carpet appearances ---- she could have asked for everything if she wanted to, as long as sheâd deliver her part of the deal. Yet, this time his feet were already walking towards the Empire, his movements fast. Biting his lip and staring at the entrance, Isaiah felt his entire body tense. An intense rush started to wash over him and his heart, letting it beat like a drum. Alas, he couldnât just turn around now. âIâm just here to see a friend, nothing more. Iâm not here to speak to either Lucia or Mr. Adalfieri. Iâm just here to play some games nâ lose some money.â he gestured with his hands towards the side, which usually indicated trust as he uncovered his chest, psychology 101. âOne of my friendâs in there and heâs currently photographing every little detail in there. I just wanna help.â Without hesitation Isaiah pushed the door open and a flood of lights appeared right in front of him, blinding him. He covered his eyes, slowly moving forward and simply demanding his assistant to stop. Some stopped as a very familiar voice broke the silence. âRight on cue.â he murmured, followed by a very bright smile and laugh. âOkay guys, youâve been fooled. No journalism without me, huh?!â his hands were patting the backs of others as they slowly retreated and left the building, leaving the two of them alone. âAre you sure itâs safe to play games like that?â Isaiah circled Priscilla and grabbed both of the handles, pushing the wheelchair towards a quiet area of the casino, secluded even. âI might need your help, again. If Lucia knows about my attendance at Milesâ party--â he stopped, but continued shortly after. âShe might think I got injured, I wonât let her suffer like that. I also have a very special gift for her, as well. So -- are you up for it or not?â
