Now it's been years since I left New York I got a kid and two cats in the yard The California sun and the movie stars I watch the skies getting light as I write As I think about those years

He’s going to be there for her while she’s pregnant, and he’s going to be there with her while their child grows up, and he’s going to be there for her while she does whatever it is she does. And I am in exactly the same place that I was in before.
— JOSEPH FAMILY TREE: MI FAMILIA SOBRE TODO
They’re loud, they’re proud, they’re here to stay so deal with it. An eclectic group with a wide range of personalities, ethnicities, and interests between them the Joseph clan doesn’t make much sense to the outside world. For better or worse they dance to the beat of their own drum. In New York City Yennifer and her children were forced to fit the mold with the constant threat of potential missteps leading to an undeserved downfall. In the end it wasn’t any of their mistakes that sent them fleeing from the Upper East Side but the betrayal of the man meant to protect and provide them all. Nonetheless, the change in location provided the migrate family a second chance. Thanks to the kindness of Yennifer’s eccentric mother & accepting step-father the Josephs were able to set down their roots on the island. Each one flourishing in ways that wouldn’t have been possible elsewhere.

WHO: closed for @nadiajcseph WHEN: Saturday morning WHERE: In the park
She had their day planned to a T. Sierra had spent the morning milling around the kitchen preparing their picnic. A freshly made berry smoothie, a flask of coffee. She had taken the time to make some brownie cookies along with an array of other treats. Nadia was the ultimate chef. She was incredible compared to Sierra. But she wanted to treat her, she wanted to go out and enjoy the sunshine with her dear friend. She filled the basket along with a blanket or two and sent off the text. ‘Me, you, Ripley, Park in twenty five minutes.’ Packing some food for Ripley, she attached his lead and headed out on her way. Fingers intertwined with the lead, the other carrying the basket, she made her way her way to the park.
The warm sun hitting her skin as she walked. Filling her with a happiness that couldn’t compare. Twenty minutes later she tapped her chin. “Where’s the perfect spot, Rip?” she quipped, wandering around until she found a patch of grass, half hidden in shade, half lit by the sunshine. She laid out her assortment of blankets, pulling the food out of the basket along with the prepared drinks. Nodding to herself as looked at it all. Offering Ripley a bone before sitting down next to him. “Hello pretty lady,” Hollering as her hand waved in the air, watching as Nadia approached. “What d’ya think? I thought I would make us. picnic with some alcohol free beverages, fruit and baked goods. Though–– we know why you usually cook,” Sierra bluffed sheepishly. Though she had been overly anal whilst she was in the kitchen. Making sure it was all as perfect as it could be.
It wasn't often that Nadia got a Saturday morning to herself but with Aurora left in the care of Greyson and her mother collecting easter eggs at the beach, she was free to do anything she pleased this morning. Whether Sierra knew of this information or had just gotten lucky when she decided to invite Nadia out was beyond her but she was glad for the excuse to leave the house. She doesn’t bother responding to Sierra’s text as she exits the bathroom in a cloud of steam. Bare feet leaving a trail of water droplets along the path to her bedroom. Twenty minutes hardly seemed like enough time to get through the entirety of her morning routine, so for the sake of not keeping Sierra waiting she rushed through the majority of it.
Normally Nadia walked to the park in an effort to be more environmentally friendly but since throwing together a suitable outfit had taken longer than expected she drove to make up for some of the lost time. It doesn’t take her long to find Sierra in the sea of strangers once she wanders out of the parking lot. Her friend’s familiar voice unmistakable even among the symphony of background noise. Chocolate hues drink in the sight of her friend underneath a tree a few feet away with a smile. Nadia jogs the rest of the way, effortlessly weaving through the hyperactive children separating them. “You’re too cute and I don’t deserve you,” the brunette countered as her gaze swept over the unexpected feast before her.
She certainly hadn’t been expecting Sierra to surprise her with a picnic and couldn’t help but feel touched by the effort. “If the goal was to make me cry, congrats you’ve done it. Shit Sierra, this is the most romantic thing anyone’s done for me in...” Nadia trailed as she pretended to do the math by counting her fingers. “like five years. Are you about to propose to me or something? Cause I definitely would have worn a different outfit today if I knew I’d be proposed to.”

Jess: I promise to crowdfund your bail. #freenadia
Jess: I'm pretty sure this is the only time that's ever called for a trenchcoat. Like a sexy spy!!
Jess: You'd pull it off, I'd just look like three kids trying to get into a rated R movie.
Jess: I'm free to finish mine and Arie's podcast, if that's what you mean!! Arie is a terrible podcast partner, our schedules never line up and she always shoots down my ideas. She's so lucky she's the talent.
Nadia: Make sure to use only pictures that going 1000+ likes on my Instagram on the page please.
Nadia: A trenchcoat, you're a genius Jess! Quiet rebellion is more fun anyway. I'll just pack an extra bag of clothes to change into at work.
Nadia: To be fair, you look like three kids trying to get into a r-rated movie even without the trenchcoat. That's your charm.
Nadia: What can I say, my daughter knows what she wants when she wants it. I'd apologize on her behave but you know what the say about apples and trees.
Nadia: Cant wait for that new podcast episode though. I can only re-listen to the first three episodes so many times.

ben: But what about your famous Joseph hangover cure? I'm useless without you Dia.
ben: I don't think I'd know how to buy anything on this thing if I tried. But maybe drunk Ben knows more about it than sober Ben does
ben: Shit I should call my bank
nadia: Hungover Ben is so needy, I love it. Thank you for the ego boost.
nadia: You didn't have any ginger, green tea, or apple cider vinegar at your place. I'll swing by with my cure after I get the ingredients to make it but i expect breakfast in payment!!
nadia: I hope he bought another bedazzled bible. I'd love for you to have to explain that to girls you bring over.

Kites - if you could travel to anywhere in the world right now, where would it be?
She’s always wanted to see the pyramids. There’s something about them in particular that has always fascinated her. They are so ancient and have seen so much that she feels like there’s no way anyone can go see them without being changed at least a little. It’s silly theory that she often gets teased since her mother often tells her that it’s just a tourist trap and they aren’t magical or anything but hey, everyone’s allowed to hold a silly belief or two.
Sunday services - what is your typical Sunday like?

Easter cards - if you could say one thing to my muse right now, what would it be?

Lent - what is something that you want to give up but you haven’t yet?
Every January Nadia says this will be the year that she officially goes vegan but that’s a lot harder to do than she thinks. Sometimes she can go weeks without meat but she likes too big a fan of diary products to go long without accidentally eating cheese or grabbing a pint of ice cream to share with her daughter.

Hot cross buns - name three things that you like and dislike about my muse.
Ronnie’s photography skills definitely come in handy for Nadia from time to time. Most of her Instagram feed is thanks to the work of Ronnie and she also takes a lot of Nadia’s before and after photos for her interior designing business as well! She also likes how ambitious the blonde is and the way she’s always down to do anything. Nadia’s decidedly not as down to do things and can be very frigid and inflexible but Ronnie helps to bring out a more playful/childish side of her. They have a very sisterly like relationship and as such they bump heads quite frequently. Sometimes that willingness to do whatever can always be a headache for Nadia who thinks Ronnie can be a little reckless.

ben: why did you leave?
nadia: You fell asleep halfway through the movie so I let myself out.
nadia: Don't worry I took a Lyft home. I'll come get my car tomorrow.
nadia: But how the hell did you find your phone? I hid it from you to prevent drunk bible buying. Please tell me you didn't order another one?

Rhys - Maybe I Will Learn
“How many fires must a girl walk throughBefore it finally rains? Will she wake up on the other sideOnce the water drains?Tell me all this fighting has a meaning.“
Cake - what is your guilty pleasure?
Nadia’s pretty vain whether she admits it or not so her biggest guilty pleasure is definitely the hundreds of dollars she tends to spend on beauty products, mostly skin care. She’s never had any work done but she’s definitely been accused of it because of her sharp angled features but weirdly she doesn’t find being accused of plastic surgery as an insult.
Sunday services - what is your typical Sunday like?
Sundays when she lived in Los Angeles usually consisted of brunch with the girls and then a self-care pamper day with her daughter at home. It’s the one day of the week Nadia allowed herself to completely unplug and not worry about work but now that she business is at risk of failing and she’s back at home with her mother, she works Sundays too. Though she’s still dragged to church before she can escape to get to Los Angeles where her office is located.
