What should he make of this? He was hearing mix things that he wasn’t sure what to believe. It didn’t douse the idea of going to Elisa and teasing her for what he (will say anonymously) heard but it made him doubt the truth in it. A more pressing matter he noticed was the girl’s heightened anxiousness as the conversation continued. He gave a practiced lighthearted chuckle to hopefully ease the tension and show he found no fault with what he was told.

“I expected that more. I would be surprised if she’s interested in me at all. I enjoy her company so…I concur. Who knows.” Both an element of hesitation and a touch of shyness crept into his voice as he trailed off. Both very unfamiliar traits which he was quick to cover up as he continued.

“I didn’t know you were close with Elisa. Have you known each other long?”
