Saw Obsession tonight. Two cinema visits in as many days. We are so back! 💪🏻
This is by no means a bad film. Far from it. Inde Navarrette gives us a world class performance and the score is beautiful. However, I'm not particularly enjoying this recent trend of surrealist horror where a brilliant concept gets buried beneath increasingly excessive execution. I had the same reaction to 'Together' last year. In both cases, what begins as a fascinating premise gradually gives way to what feels like a film more interested in escalation rather than exploration. The result isn't a bad film, but one that seems desperate to exhaust ideas that were already compelling enough on their own. Or perhaps I simply enjoy subtlety?

Went to see The Mandalorian and Grogu tonight. It helps if you've seen The Mandalorian, but it never feels like you're being punished for missing five other projects. No post-credit scene either. Cinema might finally be healing!
