You’ve grown into a role… the things we’ve lost… it makes us stronger.
independent comic andrea from the walking dead. ( show verse also available. novella. 21+. )
——- Three weeks, Londyn had made it to Alexandria’s safe zone just three weeks before this new group’s arrival. She had shown up on her own, staggering up to the gates with an injured ankle, and a hoard of walkers on her trail. Luckily, she was allowed past the gates, and welcomed in with open arms. The only downside? They took her crossbow, arrows, and hunting knife. She hated being without her weapons and it was most certainly something to get used to.
After her arrival, she was given two jobs to do. The first one was to help cook and the second one was to be a tour guide to any newcomers. Both jobs she was well capable of doing, too. In the middle of working on a meal plan with three other kitchen staff members, Londyn was called away, and told that she needed to get ready to be a tour guide for the first time. She braced herself, she didn’t like the idea of dealing with strangers, and knowing she had to be friendly to someone she hardly knew added stress onto the poor girl.
Upon seeing the guy, Londyn’s eyes widened slightly. The man was huge, he was very muscular and intimidating even for her. However, if she could fight of hoards of walkers alone, she had no reason to be intimidated by this fella - especially since he was smiling at her. She extended her hand to him and firmly gripped his, giving it a nice shake, then she spoke up. “Londyn, nice to meet you, Tyreese. So, how much of this place have you seen?” She questioned as she greeted the man for the first time.
Upon hearing her question, he took a small glance around the town, and shook his head. "I ain't seen much." He admitted. "Just the home we met Douglas in and the shower room." Ty gently rubbed the back of his head, feeling a clean scalp for once. "Other than that I ain't see jack shit --- I miss my beanie though." He said but knew it needed a good wash nevertheless. Tyreese couldn't imagine what it smelled like now. He's only been clean for about twenty minutes and he could already tell he was growing spoiled by this lifestyle, but make no mistakes, he was still very wary of it all. Brown hues gazed back to the woman before him with a small shrug. "I'm assuming all our belongings will be returned --- once they're washed?" If anything, he just wanted his beanie back. Sure he could take it or leave. But now? There was a sentimental vibe to it that he just couldn't explain. "So --- I guess you'll be giving me the full tour."
Alexandria. The safe haven. Least, that's what he's been told. The man wasn't too fond of it, despite it being the ideal locale. He couldn't find it in him to inherently trust something that seemed a bit too real than it should be. Almost two years of just God giving their group a shit hand. They've lost people, they've seen more than they should, yet, so has these people. Tyreese was sure of it, these people had to be survivors as well --- least, so he thought. Women and children populated the streets, men working on gardens, as if the world outside these walls didn't exist anymore. This was like a dream or as if he's stepped into another reality that differs from the one they've been currently living through. Douglas' questions were normal --- oddly close to the ones Rick use to ask others before bringing them back to the prison. Tyreese answered truthfully to the ones he wanted. He figured either Douglas knew he was bluffing or he was too old to know. Afterwards, he was allowed a shower and clothing that were deemed appropriate and that were clean. Slowly, he felt himself growing into something a bit. Sure, it was uncomfortable, but slowly he was realizing that maybe --- maybe this isn't so bad. For now. They took away his lucky hammer and that rubbed him the wrong way. There after, Douglas informed Tyreese that he was to meet with a fellow resident, that they were all assigned people that were to meet them, welcome them, and show them around the well established town. Tyreese complied and followed the orders the leader of this great town shared with him. Awaiting outside was a blonde. She had seemed to be waiting for quite a while now and a shed of guilt had hit him a bit. With a rather --- warm smile, he made his way up to her. "Sorry I kept you waiting," he apologized and then explained. "Not really use to --- all of this, you know." Now this was his attempt to gain information whilst being friendly. "Though I'm sure you know all about our situation. The name's Tyreese." And with that, he held out his hand to her.

It was hard to try and hide her own joy and excitement at the sight of the amusement park. While she thought the trek out here was dumb and pointless in the way of getting anything useful, it was nice to see a place from her childhood. Memories of going through the haunted house and being scared, having Tyreese play rigged carnival games in an attempt to win her a prize. It all seemed worth it now that they were finally there.
“Okay, okay. Chill out, we can go in.” She said, waving a hand toward the gates before holding up a finger. “But only for a little bit, alright? I don’t wanna have to head back in the dark.” It was her one request. She’d followed him here to please his silly demands ( plus she kinda wanted to see it too though she’d never tell him that ) and was willing to put up with a few rounds of bumper karts as long as they left early enough to make it back in time.
"After dark my ass." Tyreese refuted with a downward motion with his hand. "We can't see them --- they can't see us, if you ask me, both sides are gonna be blind as shit." There was so much to do with so little time, at least in his mind. He remembered during the holidays the park would always stay up later in the evenings, to appeal to the tourists who come down for winter holidays and so on. He could remember the vivid, vibrant lights strewn through out the park and all the commotion of others laughing and carrying on. He missed it more than anything right now. If someone asked Tyreese Williams about Whispering Oats, he would go on for at least three and a half hours. "This may seem --- crazy." Whenever Ty started out a sentence like this, it hardly ever ended logically. Many of his crazy schemes from childhood always started out with that phrase, though he never realized it. Totally oblivious to it. "We may bitch, moan, and complain about how the world is now but think about it --- we ain't them lines to wait in. We ain't wasting all that money to get in. We can just waltz on through and try whatever ride we want. Hell, if you ask me, this is a blessing in disguise." He paused, as he began to walk, and suddenly added on to his pro's to the apocalypse list. "And we don't have to wait for the cotton candy machine. I don't ever think cotton candy goes bad." That, was a falsified, trivial fact that Tyreese pulled right out from his mind; whether or not Sasha was going believe him was a totally different story.
"Everybody can't be bad."
“Naw man, of course not. Hell, when I met you people when I first arrived here at the prison, for all I know, ya’ll could’ve been a group of cannibals, ready to eat me and my family. But guess what, you weren’t. There are good people out there, just sometimes —- it’s hard to find ‘em. You got them others out there who are bad and it’s just a coin flip when it comes right down to it.”
"nowadays, people are just as dangerous as the dead."
“Yeah, I would say that’s an understatement. The dead are dangerous, sure. But people do a whole lot of more fucked up shit than the dead, let me tell ya. The dead just do what they do best, they don’t know, they just mindless, walking piles of shit. The other people out there, who raise hell, kill men, rape women and children, they know what they’re doing. And if I’m being honest here, it scares the ever loving shit outta me —- scares me more than them fuckin’ roamers.”
the walking dead sentence meme.
"i don't cry anymore."
"you don't need their love, but you need their respect."
"get over yourself, you're not the only one who lost something today."
"they have guns, and people."
"you said that we get to start over... did you?"
"i didn't need to know that, but cool."
"no one's coming."
"we're all going to die and you let this happen for nothing."
"as bad as it gets, it's still better than down there."
"try to look at the good we're doing."
"welcome to the human race, asshole."
"i'm suffocating in boredom."
"if we hadn't saved you, you'd be one of them right now. so you owe us."
"they think i'm scrawny, they think i'm weak, but they don't know shit about me."
"every sacrifice we make needs to be for the greater good."
"where are our people?!"
"good news is that you're not dead yet."
"these people are my family, and if you hurt them in any way. i will kill you."
"never let your guard down, ever."
"we're not splitting up again."
"nowadays, people are just as dangerous as the dead."
"either you're the butcher, or the cattle."
"everybody can't be bad."
"i just need to forget."
"you're safe enough to be bored, you're lucky."
"we don't go back!"
"i'm taking anyone back there who wants to leave."
"you're not like everybody else."
