"Yeah. There are many unimportant facts I could tell about myself, and that, I am sure, is the most interesting one. Sadly."
"Can I here some more please?" Tyler asked, sitting down and looking at him.

"Yeah. There are many unimportant facts I could tell about myself, and that, I am sure, is the most interesting one. Sadly."
"Can I here some more please?" Tyler asked, sitting down and looking at him.
"I-i see.."
"I don’t know why you keep calling me Erik when that isnt even my name."
"You... You just look like someone I know named Erik.. I'm sorry.. It's hard.."
[his head snapped up at the gesture. The creature that Tyler had described as a darkling looked inherently human, but they moved in such a way that set them apart from such a description. Standing, and being sure to place Tyler behind him, his back burned as his courage grew] Looking for a book?
Tyler looked at him and he watched Atticus with the darkling. He gripped the back of his shirt tightly as he hid behind him.
[the boy was suddenly quite dependent on him, and although Atticus didn’t mind, it concerned him] Have you done anything to warrant an attack?
"No.. They are just horrible creatures.." He said as he laid his head in Atticus' chest. He heard something and he looked up. He saw one of the darklings close by and he hit him. "O-Over there..""
Are any of them after you, Tyler? You’re welcome to stay here until it all blows over, if you’d like.
"I don't know.. I think they are.. I don't know why.." he said quietly as he stayed against atticus tightly.
Like I said, nothing works. If this is how I’m destined to spend the rest of my life I’d rather die young.
"A-Alaska... P-please don't talk like this.."
[there was a panic in the boy’s voice that caused some sort of fraternal instinct to kick in. Patting the boy gently on the shoulder, he invited him to sit instead] Come sit. You can tell me about it.
Tyler looked at Atticus and stayed close to him. He sat down where he told him to sit and he curled up against him. "T-The monsters.." he choked out.
Those aren’t— [he was going to say the very adult thing of “those aren’t real”, but deep, deep down, he’d always had some sort of sneaking suspicion. Perhaps the man that had taken him had been under the influence of one. It was much nicer to think that a monster had done it rather than a man] —supposed to be running around the asylum. Did something change?
Tyler looked at the male and nodded. "Like... All hell broke loose." He said to Atticus and stayed close to him. He was still nervous that one was going to hurt him.
The Snowball? As in the dance they were going to put on? [he’d chipped in his idea that it might be a little ridiculous, but no one seems to listen to the librarian] What happened?
"Demons and darklings and monsters.. They were just... running around the place and hurting everyone.. It was terrible.
[surprised by the hug, Atticus flinched back at first, but then smiled and squeezed him back] Hello, Tyler. I’m glad to be back. [he pulled away, frowning] What on earth went on here?
Tyler smiled as he hugged Atticus even more. "A lot happened." he said as he pulled away. "The snowball was really bad.."
"It is very noisy in here."
"Oh.. i am uhm.. S-Sorry.."
Alaska nodded, keeping her gaze directed at her shoes as the lights on the ceiling only worsened her pain. “It’s not working… nothing works anymore. The pain just does its own thing. I don’t know how other people deal with this stuff on a daily basis.”
Tyler looked at her and he just stood there, not sure of what to say to her. "Have you asked for some uhm... medication..?"
[he’d gone home for a few days due to a minor family emergency, but dropped everything to return when he saw the front page of the newspaper. Henry Broken was fired due to large death counts] Did— Did I miss something?
Tyler saw Atticus and he smiled wide. He was so happy to see him again. He ran to Atticus and hugged him tightly. "I missed seeing you in the library."
“Me, technically… I guess. My head hasn’t stopped hurting since yesterday.”
"Have you gotten some m-medicine for it...?"
"I’m so sick of this…"
"S-Sick of what, Alaska?"
"I just want to sleep."
"Then how come you don't sleep?"
