“I’m either so drunk that I'm hallucinating or I’m a dude.”
“You’re definitely a dude. Just like I’m a chick. Sort of weird, right? But, I guess it’s cool if it only lasts a few days.”
“Like… these are kinda cool, but mostly just really, really weird.”
“The boobs? Yeah, kind of weird, but I think it’s like having balls but higher up? I don’t know, hm. What are they for even?”
“Check my beard, check my entire aesthetic right now.”
“Congrats to you, man. You look awesome. How about me, huh?”
What do you mean by that? Is it bad??? Does it look bad?
Dude, not at all. You look great. Who are you again?
“Okay so I’ve been researching all morning and I still can’t figure out why I’m like this.”
“I dunno, but I mean...it’s nice to know my hair choices are still acceptable while I’m a chick.”
He nodded and held him close, “it’s okay. It looks beautiful, Tyler. I know it’s not the color you wanted but it looks good regardless.” He kissed his temple gently and rubbed his back, “just tell me what to do and I’ll help you fix it. It’ll be okay, Ty. If I mess your hair up, I promise I’ll let you like color mine to your content for revenge.”
“No it doesn’t. Stop being so nice, Jace. It looks so stupid,” Tyler sighed, burying his face in the other’s neck. “I don’t know how to fix anything any more. I’m just...I’m just a giant screw-up who can’t do anything right. Fucking waste of space.”
“I do. They’re lovely. I’ll keep giving you drawings,” Kitley said, looking into Tyler’s eyes. “Oh… I’m Kitley. Y-your hair is really cool. And so are your tattoos. I’m sorry I keep dropping off drawings for you and then running off,”
“Thanks, man. I appreciate that,” He nodded, swallowing thickly. “Nice to meet you, Kitley. Thanks. Dye it myself. It’s alright. I get it if you don’t want to talk to me or something. I’m not all that fun to be around these days.”
Zoe: Very small. Oh, uh hi. Yes it it, is this Tyler's sister?
Kendall: Yeah. Kendall. Are you and my brother dating again?
“It was no problem. I like doing things like this. Its nice to do things not for school.” She told him. “Now. Is there any reason why you were so frustrated or would you rather not talk about it.”
Tyler sighed at the question, having been asked that non-stop since he’d gotten out of the hospital. “I’m just sad. And nothing helps me get happy. And it’s kind of frustrating, you know?”
“I’ll help you get it red whenever you like,” Cade replied, wondering if it’s just the hair thing that’s bothering his friend. He sits down so he’s leaning against the headboard and let’s Tyler lay down, coming through on his promise as he looks around the familiar room. “I was just here this morning to help Zoe unpack, you guys are still pretty close then?”
“Want it red now,” He grumbled, sighing as he settled into Cade’s lap, collapsing onto the other. “Guess so. We’re rooming together,” He murmured softly, biting at his lip. “I think we might get back together. I don’t know. She wants to, but I’m not sure if I’m ready to get in a relationship yet.”
Zoe: I'd like that too. My family live in New York too so i'll be getting off the boat for a while anyway. Oh she is? Okay, well, sure I'd love to talk to her.
Tyler's Mom: Do they? Small world, isn't it. Alright, here she is. Be nice, Kendall.
Kendall: Is this Zoe? Zoe Riley?
“I think it looks super cute, Ty, even if it wasn’t what you were planning.” Cade replied, reaching up to touch one of the pieces of the newly coloured hair. “Do you really want to be left alone, or do you just want to lay down? I’ll play with your hair?”
“I want it to be red, Cade. It just looks stupid and washed-out,” He grumbled, allowing Cade to examine the poor color-job. He sighed at the offer, thinking about his massive headache and how nice it would actually be to have someone play with his hair. “If you want,” He shrugged, dragging himself out of the bathroom to flop down on his and Zoe’s bed.
Zoe: I'm not going to Mrs Canley. To be honest with you, your sons wellbeing is incredibly important to me, and i'm going to do everything I can to help keep him out of harms way.
Tyler's Mom:...Well thank you for that. I really appreciate it. And I hope you'll come with Tyler to visit us when you're docked in New York. It would be nice to meet you properly. Oh and before you go, my daughter wanted to have a word with you, if that's alright. She's a fan of yours, I think.
“I could say the exact thing about potions.” She said as she changed the color of his hair. “How is this for firetruck red?” she asked him.
“I hate potions too.” Tyler bit his lip, moving over to the mirror to look at the new color. He smiled lightly, running his fingers through it. “That’s...yeah. That’s exactly what I wanted. Thank you so much,” He nodded quickly.
Zoe: No of course, I'm not going to let him do anything stupid, I wouldn't. I'm not going to let himself get that bad again Mrs Canley I promise.
Tyler's Mom: I don't mean to sound rude, but we've heard a lot about you in magazines, Zoe. And I think it's safe to say you and Tyler have a lot in common when it comes to...to going out and such. I just...try and keep him out of it, will you? Obviously I'm not your mother and I won't ask you to tone it down with the drinking and smoking, but just maybe do your best to not do it around him? I don't want him going down this road again.
Zoe: Uh, yeah he's been okay. Maybe the fresh air on the ship will be good for him? I guess I can text you or something if anything goes wrong. I'm sure it won't though. He's um, he's really strong and stuff..
Tyler's Mom: He's going to need a lot more than fresh air after that, Zoe. You really need to watch over him. As his roommate, as his friend, please make sure he's not doing anything stupid. There's only so much we can do from all the way in America.
Kitley listened intently, the words tugging hard at his heart strings. His face softened, and he waited until Tyler was done. “That was beautiful,” Kitley said quietly. “You’re very good at writing. If I keep giving you pictures will you keep giving me poems…?” Kitley asked him curiously, tilting his head to the side because he really wanted to get more of the other boy’s words. “I wanna hear more.”
“Yeah?” Tyler asked, watching the other curiously. “I can, I guess. If you really want them. I like your drawings,” He murmured, shrugging lightly. “I’m Tyler. What’s your name?” He asked, remembering how every note was signed with a ‘K’ but not an actual name.
