Alec made a deep sigh, seeing Tyler like this was sad, he hoped he wouldn’t have to be the cause for that again. It wasn’t easy for his little brother, living alone, being in this never-ending conflict with their dad and being in the shade of his two older brothers. Alec had always tried to help to make it easier, and he intended to go on with that. “At least you realize that now,” he said in a slightly softer voice. Tyler’s call for help was all it took and, as the noble protecter of everyone in need, Alec came to the rescue. “Listen to me, we have to hide all clues, change the records to make sure none of us can get connected to this mess. Lily needs an alibi, there has to be a good reason for Ella not having a mother. You have to persuade Alex and Lily to do as we say. I’m sure they’ll listen to you more than me,” Alec made a little uncertain pause here, then he continued, “It’s possible we might need help from a higher authority,” meaning their dad, “but I’ll handle that.” Alec looked Tyler in the eyes now and almost begged him, “Don’t hide anything else from me, okay? Don’t keep me in the dark, Tyler. But… Leave Oliver to me, don’t tell him anything about this.”

Tyler nodded, knowing his brother was right. He was relieved when his brother began speaking of a solution to their problem. There was no doubt in him that his brother would have a solution, he just wasn't expecting it to come so quickly. Perhaps he had been thinking about it for quite some time. "Okay, but what? I didn't even think about that..." He sighed, frustrated in himself for being naive. "They'll do it. I know they will." He was confident in that. They'd do anything that would ensure the safety of Ella.

Tyler let out a relieved sigh when Alec said he'd handle the hard part. "Can we trust him thought? I mean, our father...? How do you know he won't turn us in well, because it's me." He ran a hand through his hair before nodding at his brother. "Okay... I'm sorry. And thank you, for everything. I should have said something sooner, I know that now." He assured his older brother. "And yes, I won't way anything to him. Cody knows too. When Ella was sick, he tested her blood to find out what she had, but then destroyed it. In case someone got curious as to why the... I don't know he put it in medical terms. But he knows, in case you need to include him."

From the way that Tyler was around Ella and treated her, Lily was pretty sure that he was even better at parenting than she was. There wasn’t even a doubt that she liked him even more, but again she was quite fine with that. “Boo!” Ella exclaimed, giggling before it made her start to cough once again, but when it had subsided she began to play with her bracelet. “And you know what? I bet they can give a bracelet to your bunny too,” Lily suggested, kissing Ella’s cheek. “Yeah, I think that might be a good idea,” Lily nodded, not wanting there to be another coughing fit if they could help it. “You’re an amazing Dada, you know that?” she grinned, the fact that his eyes had glossed over not going past her.

Tyler remembered the bunny and nodded with a smile. "Yes. Good idea." He said, watching as Ella played with the label. "Okay. I'm gonna go see if I can get another bracelet." He winked at Lily and smiled at Ella. Hearing Lily's words, his heart nearly melted. Leaning forward, he kissed Lily softly, but briefly before pulling away and slipping off the bed. "I'll be right back, princess." He told Ella, kissing her tiny hand before going off to the nurse's station. He explained to the nurse that Ella was up and the nurse confirmed that it was indeed time for more medicine. He then spotted Cody and coaxed him into printing out a label bracelet for the bunny before going back. "Back, back. I was on a mission." He grinned once inside the room, noticing that the nurse must have already come and gone because Ella was making a face like she had just had a drink of hard liquor.

The Storm Inside || Noel & Tyler

Pulling up into the parking lot of the gas station, Noel couldn’t help but feel a little anxious as she looked up at the darkening sky, a shiver going through her while she thought through her decision, not that she had any choice at this point. She was already here. Normally she wouldn’t have dared going out when a storm was coming, considering how much they managed to freak her out since the shaking caused by thunder reminded her of an earthquake, but for some reason she was wanting raspberry ice cream so badly, and Beck still hadn’t got home yet, and she couldn’t wait any longer. With a sigh, she climbed out of the car and started walking over to the front doors of the gas station, heading inside and back to the ice cream section, hoping they had her ice cream so she could get out of here and meet Beck back at the apartment and cuddle through this storm.

Tyler parked outside of the convenience store after work. He had promised Ella chocolate and seeing as she was fully recovered from her hospital stay, he had to give the little fighter her chocolate. Lily had texted him to tell him she was going to town hall. He could tell just from the texts how nervous she was. Ella was with her grandparents so Tyler had told Lily to ask them if he could take her to his place so he could watch her. He was fully prepared to stop at the grocery store and buy a good dinner for his little family. Family. That made him smile as he walked into the convenience store, shaking out his hair like a dog as it had began to rain pretty heavily. The cashier greeted him and Tyler went in search of the candy bars then when he noticed a familiar figure by the freezers. "Noel?" He called, wanting to make certain it was her.

To be completely honest, Lily hadn’t thought before that Ella would ever have a father figure, other than her uncle. She just never imagined anyone wanting to be there for them, for both of them, like this. And the fact that Tyler had so easily accepted Ella calling him dada was an entirely different story. How was it possible that Lily had managed to find the most perfect guy in the world, that clearly loved her daughter even more than he cared about her? And that was just how she wanted it. For a moment, Lily merely watched the two of them, seeing how Ella had moved over closer to him, and she almost wanted to cry from how happy the sight of it made her. So of course when Tyler looked at her for acceptance, Lily smiled and said, “Yep, there’s Dada. He was very worried about his little princess,” she smiled.

Tyler's heart was smiling when Lily confirmed it was okay with her, and even said it. His eyes clearly watered and he gave Lily a private smile as to say his thanks. "I was. I couldn't have you sad and all icky sickness. Boo, sickness needs to go away, mhhm." Tyler fixed Ella's hair as he had messed it up a bit from the nuzzling. "That's a really cool bracelet. And look, it has your name on it." He distracted the toddler from her obvious discomfort as best he could. Ella looked at her patient bracelet, obviously distracted momentarily. "Does she need m-e-d-i-c-i-n-e again? I can go get someone." He told Lily, spelling medicine so Ella wouldn't panic. When he was a kid, he had hated medicine with a passion.

Alec shook his head in disbelief at Tyler’s words. “And look how well that worked. This could have gone so badly… and it still can.” He put his hands on his waist, standing in a strong position to mark his words as he looked at Tyler. The mental images that were flying through his mind scared him to death, but he made his best not to show that. “It’s not much like family to-” suddenly, Alec’s throat went dry, he saw his brother’s gaze turn shamefully down to the floor again. Alec wanted to be mad, because it was all wrong, but at the same time he understood what Tyler meant, he imagined how he must feel. “I know,” he said calmly and understanding, “I know you wanted to protect us, but, Tyler, this was not the right way. We’re all as far from safe as we have ever been. Why? Because nobody told me about this, I found out myself.” His stomach tied into a knot and he had to swallow hard, “And if I could put all the pieces together, any other Official can too.”

Alec's gaze remained to the floor as Alec spoke. He wasn't one for confrontation, especially when it was a family member. Perhaps it was because he was taught not to talk back to his elders and if he did talk back, things would usually go very bad. He never seemed to get that though, but he would give his brother the chance to speak as he had with him. At the realization of what Alec was getting at, he felt a bite of anxiety that made him shift uncomfortably. It's not like he was oblivious to the dangers of what he and Lily were doing, he just had been too caught up in the moment to think about it. All he could think about was how happy he was, an emotion he had not been able to find in quite some time. "I- I wasn't thinking straight." He admitted, rubbing the back of his neck. He looked at his big brother finally and the look he gave him was one a little brother gave to their big brother when they knew that the bigger brother would have all the answers. They just knew. "What should I do, Alec...?" He swallowed. "I don't want anything to happen to them. They're my family too."

You’re downright mischievous, and it’s made even better because if all of your friends are willing to bend over backwards for you, you sure as heck chose them well! I feel like there’s so little room to worry about you sometimes. You have a stable job, relationship, and educational background to boot! Your half of the brain is doing you wonders, I’m envious. 

Please do. I’m sure the university would jump at the prospect of employing you. If you teach me first, I’ll gladly volunteer to be your TA. And read people? Approximately how much pout would you use with me if you lost my lesson plan or something?— not that I’m sure why you’d have it in the first place. I think people only let me get away with things because they think I don’t know better! Get rid of that excuse and I’d be in a whole world of hurt. I’m sure Alec does his fair share of grumbling under his breath because of my antics at times, and if it had to be around anyone it’d be you. You guys have that whole brotherly bond thing going on, and I think includes the whole ‘my match is being ridiculous’ spiel you’re bound to have listened to.

I'll have to get my kicks somehow if I'll be stuck in a nursing home. No, no. I have no idea, but I think it's just luck.  Someday my luck will run out. I better start gambling while I still got it.

Oh yeah, most definitely. Are you sure? Being my TA would require a lot of time, hard work, and demonstrations of the puppy dog look. Your face must be prepared. For you and for that, I'd use about twenty-one percent pout. Probably less, my pouts never get higher than the fifties unless I really did something wrong or want something. Don't get rid of the excuse! We can get away with anything with my look and your excuse. Noooo, not at allll.

"I know," Lily said with a smile. "And Ella does too, and we’re both so happy and lucky to have you," she said. Just as she said that, the toddler began to stir, waking up with a terrible cough. "Oh baby girl, it’s okay," Lily tried to sooth her, placing a kiss to her daughter’s soft hair, and thankfully the coughing didn’t last for too long. But by the time the coughing fit was over, Ella was wide awake and had noticed that there was someone new there that hadn’t been when she fell asleep. "Dada!" Ella said when she realized that it was Tyler, and lily could see her eyes light up - but she couldn’t help but blush when she realized what she said. Biting her lip, she looked over at Tyler to see how he reacted, unsure of what she should say or do. It wasn’t exactly something that she had expected to happen, that was for sure. Before now, Tyler had always been ‘Tywar’, and nothing else.

It wasn't the first time that Lily told him she was lucky to have him. Oh, but it went both ways. Tyler hadn't once ever been this happy. Maybe once, a long time ago. But it felt like he was living a dream with the two girls he cared for more than life itself. As he thought this, he felt Ella stir and frowned at her frowning, wishing there was someway he could help. The word that came out of her mouth made him swallow, fearing that his heart was going to come right out. A warmth spread through him as a grin spread on his lips. Little Ella had no idea how much that one word warmed his heart and almost brought tears to his eyes. Of course, she squirmed as her way of wanting attention from him. "Hi, princess." He kissed the top of her head and nuzzled the top of her head affectionately and even earned a small giggle. "Dada's here." He wanted to assure her that it was okay she had called him that, he looked up to Lily, the look in his eyes asking if it were okay with her that she called him that.

What in the world is so fucking hard about flushing the damn toilet? It’s not as if it takes much effort, and it’s disgusting going into a bathroom and finding someone else’s crap there. What even happened to common courtesy anymore? Why must people be so disgusting?

You had to be the greedy one, didn’t even leave me a smidge of independent sanity. For shame, Tyler. And geez, I just realized that fifty isn’t all that far off. Two decades can go by way too quickly— we should pick out our rocking chairs while we’re ahead. I want one that suits my peachy personality before it gets a chance to shrivel up like a prune.

If you’re gonna teach me, why not start now? How do you get your eyes to do that whole suddenly two times bigger and slightly watery thing? Not to mention the slight-but-not-overdone pout! It’s ingenious. And that’s… I hope you guys had at least two toilets in the house at the time. What makes you think I don’t need the puppy dog eyes?

I sure am. Nope, all mine. It's really not... that's scary. Can we? I want a blue one. And I want all my friends to sign it. Like, I'll have all these old friends and we'll be in a nursing home and they'll all bend to sign it, but won't be able to get back up. And I'll laugh because that's what I intended to do. Oh, we'll make the best of being old. 

It takes time and you have to know when to use it. I think I'll have to teach a class because there are a lot of steps to perfect it. I've had years to perfect it and I can read people to know how much pout I need to put into it. Oh, we did. Thank the gods for that. Because you can get away with anything! Especially when Alex is involved, trust me.

"I suppose that’s true. At least this way you know that we’re both okay, and you know that we like having you here," Lily said with a smile as she rolled over a bit so that she was resting on her side, her arm across both Ella and Tyler. This was sort of perfect, her little family right here - if only Ella wasn’t sick then it would be even better. "I’m just doing what any mother should… You’re even better though. This is what I’m supposed to do but you’re here because you want to be here for us. If I could kiss you right now without waking up Elle Belle, I would," she said with a small laugh. "Cody brought up something for me earlier and made sure that I ate it, so I’m alright. I honestly doubt I’d be able to sleep… I hated the hospital when I was stuck in it before, and I think I hate it even more now that Ella’s in here…"

Tyler smiled, "And that's why I'm here. To give you a bit of reassurance and make Ella feel a bit better. And I'm not going anywhere... ever. I hope you know that." He assured Lily, taking a moment to watch her as she turned on her side and draped her arm over Ella and him, his arm doing the same. Ella was secure between her mother and the man that loved her very much as a father would. "You know I can't stay away from my girls. Especially when one of them is hurting." He looked down at Ella, watching again for her breathing pattern. "Oh, good. I'll have to thank him for that. Speaking of Cody, did Alex come? Or did they let you sign all the paperwork since technically you are a guardian?" He figured Alex would still be at work since his schedule was always later than his by about an hour or two.

Besides, I have two close family members, my girlfriend, and about five other people that I care about. Why would I want anyone else to miss me? I probably did, but that just means I'll walk out on the street and get hit by a bus and I'll prove your theory makes no sense.

When Tyler laid down on the bed, Ella stirred just the tiniest bit but didn’t wake up entirely. Instead, what she did was wrap her arms around her stuffed rabbit and snuggled in closer to Tyler, and it made Lily wonder if she knew that he was there or if she was just cuddling towards the warmth. No matter what the reason was, Lily was happy to see Ella so drawn to him, and it made her heart well up with happiness. “You’re going to stay all night? Baby, you’re going to be exhausted tomorrow, it’s sort of impossible to sleep in the hospital,” she said, knowing it fully well both from tonight and the time that she spent in the hospital when she first had Ella. But even so, she was happy that he’d be staying there with them. “I know… it’s a lot easier to believe it when you’re here, though,” Lily said with a small smile.

Tyler smiled as he felt Ella cuddle into him, probably seeking his warmth. No one had ever done that and it caused his breath to hitch slightly. "It's no big deal. I wouldn't be able to sleep anyways, knowing you two were here." He dropped his hand from Lily's cheek to gently touch Ella's hand. "You're such a great mother, Lily. Not all mothers would worry this way. But of course you would because your heart is so big." He smiled gently, looking to Lily. "Why don't you try and get some rest, yeah? And did you eat?"
