“I mean.. I don’t smoke or anything like that, so I don’t light matches all that often. I have candles, but like, I use a barbecue lighter for those.. so??”
“I don’t smoke either. But I just love the smell. We had to use matches in science class and things like that. But it smells good.”
Audra dug her elbow into the wood table top, supporting her chin, just below her unamused expression. Match six. In a cup of water was five dead matches floating in a cluster. “Yeah. When there is a candle that has been lit.” She stated flatly.
Tyson looked over and raised his eyebrows slightly. “I don’t know about that. Then the smell of the candle overpowers the smell of the blown at match and that ruins it.”
“And I really did think about it, and it does makes sense. Good point. How’ve you been Ty?”
“You weren’t supposed to agree that easily!” He said with a chuckle, his head shaking slightly. “I’ve been pretty good, how’ve you been?”
“I’m more of a sucker for flower or candle related smells.”
“That makes a lot more sense, for sure. But I don’t know, a blown out match is a smell I love.”
“You found a pack of matches and started lighting them up? You’re such a weirdo.”
“Of course I did. Would you expect anything else from me? I mean if you really think about it, it makes sense.”
“Hey now. If I told you I would be making it way too easy on you. I think you could come up with something.”
“Oh, that just might make it too easy. But then that way you’re guaranteed to get just what you want.”
“Yeah they actually did, I kept making hearts, but I think I just liked watching it go black. That sounded really dark, but I swear it’s not. It’s just aesthetically soothing, like you said. I think i’ll just stick to the candles. They smell nice too.”
“That’s good to know if I ever decided to play with fire and paperclips. That did sound really dark but that also makes sense. See, I just like the blowing out matches aesthetic. But candles do smell nice too, sometimes they’re overwhelming though.”
“Probably.. I’m not sure that one is super common.”
“But have you smelt it? I mean, it’s a great scent.”
“No, but can you stop doing that? You’re going to burn this place down, dude.”
“Oh come on, I’m not going to burn it down. The point is to blow the flame out for the smell. I wouldn’t let the flame stay going.”
“Don’t tell me you bought a box of matches, just to light then smell them.”
“I actually didn’t. I just happened to have them. Or rather, found them.”
“I personally don’t, but when I was a kid, I kept burning paperclips over the candles. Don’t ask why but I thought it was fascinating especially when I melted some wax over it and the bit lit on fire. Don’t know why I just told you that, but since we’re sharing odd interests.”
“Really? Something about it is soothing, honestly. Really? Did it do anything to the paperclips? Or did they just bend more easily? Well, that sounds like it would be the best part. Fire is soothing somehow. It’s probably good I only play with matches and nothing more.”
“It’s people from this world we’re talking about - nothing is ever predictable anymore. When you play a professional sport, that automatically makes you hateable in some aspect. Then if you add in blogs, magazines, and other types of press or social media, you’re basically a walking target. Free toilet paper, huh, never thought of it that way.”
“That’s very true. I don’t think there is anything that’s really predictable anymore. But I guess that makes life more interesting. Ah, that does make it more likely for somebody to do it. Hopefully it was just an accident but maybe keep an eyes out. I mean, toilet paper isn’t cheap.”
“You’re going to burn your eyebrows off–” Admittedly, Tony would still think he was cute. “Not a good look, ba– mate.”
“I don’t know if this would have that good of a flame.” He said with a chuckle, his eyebrows raising at the near slip as his cheeks heated up slightly. “Are you saying you wouldn’t like me without my eyebrows?”
