War is coming! Will you be my hero?
You know what I don’t like about this? It’s not Kate Upton, I like her too, she’s hot and she’s a pretty cool person too. What I don’t like is how they sexualized Athena. "Will you be my hero?" SHE’S THE GODDAMNED GODDESS OF WAR AND STRATEGY FOR FUCKS SAKE. SHE DOESNT NEED YOU. ATHENA WILL FUCK YOU UP SO QUICKLY ALL THAT WILL BE LEFT IS HEAPS OF YOUR DISRESPECTFUL SHIT. SHE’LL DESTROY YOU MENTALLY THEN FLAY YOU ALIVE. YOU DONT FUCK WITH ATHENA. SHE TURNED POSEDION’S GIRL INTO A SNAKE LADY FOR DISREPECTING HER. SHE WAS SO POWERFUL THEY MADE HER THE PATRON GODDESS OF ATHENS. NOT EVEN ZEUS HAS A CITY NAMED AFTER HIM. AND THESE IDIOTS SEXUALIZED HER? I AM JUST SO FUCKING DONE.
Athena was renown for her willingness to help others with their own quests, and the list was long, and included the heroes:- Perseus, Cadmus, Odysseus and Heracles and Jason. For example, when Jason built his ship, the Argo, it was Athena who watched over its construction.
Ares, also the god of war, had heroes in the Trojan war who fought against Odysseus and the lot. He needed heroes.
All deities had heroes. It was against the rules of gods to intervene in the affairs of mortals, hence the Trojan War. The Trojan war was fought by gods and goddesses by proxy through heroes. So in a way, since this is a game about war and not about inter-god conflict, she does need a hero in a way that has nothing to do with sexuality and everything to do with the rules of engagement for the wars of mortals (which, granted, they sometimes break, as evidenced by the fact that Diomedes injures both Athena and Ares in a single day). That's basically what the Iliad was about.
I mean, clearly Athena is being sexualized for this game because look at the picture. But the phrase "will you be my hero" is not a part of that.
