Kosuke lets out a huge breath and grabs the thing, pulling it off and stuffing it inside his book bag, holding the zipper shut. His other hand fumbles in his pocket and he pulls it out, quickly calling the number his teacher had given them for emergencies. He waits until someone picks up before he starts talking a million miles a minute. “Arachne-sensei? Um hi yeah. This little baby bird thing just tried to strangle me to death with its tail I found this egg on the side of the road and it hatched and there was all this goo and it’s so cute!! But it tried to kill me so I used my quirk and got it off and now it’s in my backpack and-” He’s panting, not giving himself any time to breathe. While he’s talking he’s also been warping from rooftop to rooftop trying to get back to the school faster. Luckily he wasn’t that far in the first place. “Yeah. I need help.” @ua-arachne

A fresh wave of cold panic smashes over the first already residing deep within her. Feeling sick as the boy rambles on and on and clutching at her own throat in sympathy, she immediately heads to the entrance of the school, searching the air wildly like she’s expecting one of these creatures to burst out from the sky.

“Where are you? What’s your location?”

“I’m like a block away. I’m using my quirk, I know I probably shouldn’t but I feel like it’s probably less bad than dying.” He laughs dryly, trying to keep both of their spirits up. After a minute he spots her. “I see you! Okay give me a minute.” He hangs up and warps from the rooftop of the last building down to the ground, running between warps. When he finally reaches her he’s breathing hard, holding the bag out in front of him. There are some coil-shaped bruises wrapping from his wrist up his arm and disappearing beneath his shirt sleeve.

Pushing the bag away for the moment, Arachne just immediately scoops Kosuke into her arms, squeezing him tightly. “I’m so glad you’re safe…” she says as she holds him for a few more seconds before parting from him, touching his cheek gently and checking his face before frowning as she catches sight of his bruises. “You were so wonderfully intuitive, thank God you thought to use your quirk. You did me proud, Kosuke-kun…”

Then, she glares icily at the bag, watching as it shakes with the creature’s desperate squirming. “We’ll have to take care of that, won’t we…?”

He opens his mouth to speak again but the thought leaves him as she scoops him up. He blushes a little bit, clearly thrown off. He was so set in his fighting instincts that he really wasn’t taking time to think about anything else. He lets out a breath he didn’t know he was holding and lets himself relax in her arms before she lets go. He feels a bit more level-headed now. “I didn’t really do much… I just tried to stay alive.” He chuckles, his eyes turning back towards the bag. “…Yeah. Do you think someone on the medical staff could figure it out?”

Arachne nods solemnly. “They’ll definitely do something. Come now, let’s–”

She doesn’t have the time to finish.

Suddenly letting out an awful shriek, the backpack splits apart, its destroyed contents dropping heavily to the ground. The creature hits the floor and whips to its feet, glaring tearfully at the two, now wielding a tail that ended in a wicked blade. Tears drop from its eyes as they flicker into a deep purple, and then, its blade shoots out towards them!

Kosuke doesn’t think twice, he grabs ahold of the teacher’s arm and warps further into the school grounds and far out of reach of the creature. “Um, uh.” He looks around desperately. “I don’t… know how to go about fighting this thing. I don’t want us to get hurt.”

“…”

Oh, she’s exhausted. Another healthy dose of panic wallops her as she realizes that now the creature is on its own, free to roam and attack whoever it comes across. At the very least, it never actually got past the school gates, so at least there was that. But entering and leaving the school now could be a struggle from this point on…

Ugh.

“It’s… alright, Kosuke…” she sighs out, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder. “We’ll handle this. Now take yourself to the infirmary, if you will? Those markings look dreadful…” She glances at them again sadly, touching his face again now. “Poor thing…”

Kosuke looks so guilty. Like a sad puppy, eyes shining and all. "I-I'm sorry..." He stammers, pulling his bottom lip between his teeth.

A fresh blush blooms across his cheeks as she frets over him and he avoids her gaze at all costs. "I'm fine. Th-... There's probably nothing I can do now... But if I can help please let me know..." He sighs, defeated.

The stretching of its tail slows as its kicked at and huge, dramatic tears leave its eyes... But it doesn't stop its attack. If anything, it makes it more determined! Flapping its wings, it suddenly launches off the ground, lifting Kosuke into the air with it, tail still stretching and stretching as the coils creep towards his neck. 🥚

"Oh... no no no, don't do that." He frowns as the little creature seems to start to cry. How is he supposed to fight something so... cute? He tries to pry the coils off his arm, growing more panicked the closer they get to his neck. He yelps when the thing takes off and lifts him in the air, limbs scrambling to find something to hold onto... but there's nothing. In a last attempt, he warps to a nearby rooftop in hopes that it'll throw off the creature enough for him to pry it off.

It blinks its rather huge eyes up at Kosuke and squeaks again, waddling forward as its coaxed forward. Once its close, it tries to sniff at his fingers. Then, with alarming speed, its tail stretches and snaps around his wrist, growing like a vine as it starts to coil up and up and up! 🥚

Good god this thing is so freaking cute. He has to keep it. He's convinced he has to keep it. "Hey little gu-" He yelps as the tail whips at him and grabs him by the arm. "What..?" He twists his arm to try and get free but the grip is painfully tight. Thinking as fast as he can he decides he can't use his quirk, that would just take whatever this is with him. He tries shaking his arm but this... tail... thing is only enveloping his arm more. "Please don't make me hurt you." He whines and tries to grab and kick at the creature to get it off.

Pop! Pop pop! Two fluffy wings and a tail poke their way free from the egg! It wobbles a little and topples over, shattering at the impact and spreading slime everywhere. A... something... rolls free, squeaking in alarm! 🥚

Kosuke is almost brought to tears. The thing is so.... CUTE! It's a bird, right? It has to be. It has wings. He looks a little grossed out by the slime and steps as far away from it as he can but he beckons the little creature over to him, making little cooing noises. Hopefully it's not hurt! He'll have to find some kind of person to guide him on how to take care of it but right now he's just worried about keeping it safe with him.

A soft little rumbling sound leaves the egg! The shell starts to chip off, showing a glimpse of something pink and fuzzy inside! 🥚

"Oh my god." Kosuke practically squeaks as he catches a glimpe of something that looks furry. It's gonna be so cute, all baby animals are so cute! Now he can't stop thinking about baby animals. What animal was this, though? Do any birds have pink feathers? Flamingos... Wait, no, flamingos aren't native to Japan.
