BACKGROUND!
hoonie was born on july 8th, 2003; cancer sun, sagittarius rising, and scorpio moon :)
born in gunpo, but moved to seoul when he was nearly six years old
parents saw charisma and charm in him and took him to modeling and acting classes, which led to modeling and commercial gigs as a kid
always had an interest in music, but felt too pressured by his parents to pursue acting instead of rapping
got his first “decent” acting role at twelve as a guest role on the drama kill me, heal me
enrolled at hanlim for high school and befriended sunbae wang bitna
was encouraged by bitna to audition for the company she was training at, and passed without his parents knowledge
after some intense fights, they conceded and let him attempt his passion of rapping
went through training and finally was able to debut in blue.m, hopes to gain more acting opportunities and variety positions
PERSONALITY!
comes off as very passive and friendly upon meeting, very much a push over and obedient due to the past pressure of having to listen to his parents
afraid to speak his mind and keeps things to himself
cries a lot
very touchy and clingy with those he is comfortable with, particularly his hyungs and bitna
knows he is cute and will use it to get what he wants since he has trouble directly communicating things, uses aegyo to deflect from his insecurities and feelings
doesn’t think he’s creative enough to truly be an idol and very rarely puts his input into making music, just does as the stylists and producers tell him
jealous easily over people trying to take things away from him / people away from him
The entirety of Hyunsoo’s trip to New York was spent with his eyes glued shut. Countless hours in the plane in his attempt to prepare him for the full turn of timezones. He had been around to other countries frequently enough to learn how to adapt himself to the heavy consequences of it.
Hyunsoo managed to wake up early with the sufficient rest settling in his bones ㅡ though they ached ever so slightly, craving the caffeine he managed to get himself addicted to over the past year. No amount of espresso would be enough to satiate the craving in the back of his throat. Like a quench for water that a normal human should have. ( He could certainly quit any time he wanted. ) He still sat up in his bed while the others continued washing up, posture slightly hunched as he concentrated on the Switch clutched in his lap. The volume was turned up relatively loud and projected the heavy metal soundtrack of the game. Perfect to eliminate demons to.
Hyunsoo wiggled both of his legs, not bothering to peel his hands away from his game. He clenched his teeth and his eyes widened each time his character lost health. Gradually, his focus shifted to Sunghoon, the claustrophobia setting in with each inch the younger managed to get closer to him. He had half a mind to wiggle himself off the bed; even if it meant finding himself crumpled on the floor.
“You have legs. You can go get the coffee yourself.” He answered in a grumble, a scrunch of his nose coming after to adjust his glasses. He could not brush past the throbbing in his head or the beginnings of a growling in the pit of his stomach. *Resist. Resist.*
“Ugh…” The resigned sigh he released had the first signs of his defeat. If only for his own selfish reasons. “Fine. Let’s go. Both of us. But I’m not doing this just because you were acting cute. I’m hungry.”
he did certainly have legs, and he could certainly go get coffee himself. but did he want to? absolutely not. his nerves were already singing a horrid song at the thought of going outside of their hotel room in the busy foreign city even with his trusted hyung by his side. of course, he wasn’t going to confess any of that to them, they’d probably laugh at him for being such a baby, so instead he nuzzled his head cutely against hyunsoo’s leg again.
“hyuuuung...” sunghoon whined again, pouting and giving his best maknae eyes as the other continued his game. while hyunsoo took the time to ignore him, hoonie thought for a moment that it would stay a solid ‘no’ and he moved to cuddle beside him, chin on hyunsoo’s shoulder as he watched him play his game, although it seemed like he was losing.
at the first sign of that sigh, a smile of victory came to sunghoon’s lips and he knew he’d won. he pulled away eagerly, looking up at the other with bright, excited eyes. “but you still think i’m cute?” he asked with a wrinkle of his nose and tilted his head as cutely as he could, bringing a pointer finger up to poke at his cheek to make a dimple. perfect aegyo tactic, 100% power. the downside? hyunsoo was frequently immune to such attacks.
His eyes shifted to the side, to his own drink, then back to Sunghoon with a slight smirk dancing on his lips. The Blue.m member appeared far more flustered than he initially would have thought. “Sunghoon, right?” Hopefully, it was. He knew Danny in particular would never let him live it down if he forgot the names of the entirety of Blue.m. “Don’t get any of that drink on your clothes. Your stylist might get pissed at you.”
“Oh. Nice performance, by the way. I sure as fu ㅡ “ Oh, shit. He choked on his own words for a moment and glanced in either direction. Knowing Yuseong idols their managers could be lingering around at any possible corner. “I definitely couldn’t manage being an idol. Think I’d prolly end up dyin’ first.”
gosh, it was so intimidating having the other right in front of him. the rapper couldn’t control the tint of pink that stayed on his cheeks, both from embarrassment of the situation and nerves over encountering someone he admired. sure, he knew it was a possibility that he’d run into seojin sometime in his career, but he wasn’t expecting it now. “oh! uhm, yeah, that’s my name!” sunghoon tried to not sound so surprised, but he couldn’t help it.
“yeah,” he laughed softly, looking down at the pink sweater, “they’re letting me keep it too so i definitely don’t want to ruin it.” it was cute, and warm. he liked it quite a bit. his flustered feeling didn’t ease at all when the older began to compliment his performance, and he blinked at him in almost disbelief before he was nodding his head.
“it’s okay, sen-ssi, you don’t have to censor yourself! i’m not a kid...” barely, barley not a kid, but still! “idol or not, you’re far more talented than any idol i know! your voice is beautiful!”
“thank you, though. it’s a great compliment coming from you.” he meant it too, the admiration for the other clear in his voice. “i hope you’ve enjoyed all of the other performances too... especially dandelions!”
as a self-proclaimed adventurer at heart, elliot was ever in love with having the chance to explore new places. though it was his first time in america, there was something being somewhere with his native language that made him feel at home moreso than he had in quite some time.
much like an ever-active toddler, the second that blue.m’s flight touched down, elliot was on a mission to go. he likely would’ve gotten lost in the crowd while running away in excitement if it weren’t for haneul holding him back by the sleeve in the airport. there was so much to see and el wanted the chance to do it all despite the short stay and busy schedule that the boys had already filling their time in new york city.
the car ride to the hotel was filled with quiet whine and protests about wasting precious time, mixed with an array of amazed gasps as el stared out of the window at the surrounding, faced willed with child like wonder.
he had barely given sunghoon time to settle in before pouncing on him, practically knocking the other boy over in the middle of the hotel room. “please. pretty please.” he whined, giving the younger boy a tight squeeze. “i saw ice cream outside. will you please come get some with me?”
while it wasn’t his first time in america, sunghoon still always had a bit of anxiety when it came to traveling. combine that with the jet-lag that he was experiencing, and his eyes were barely open. he’d been clinging to haneul the whole ride to the hotel, looking out the window with wide eyes as he took everything in. it was beautiful here, in its’ own way.
when they got to the hotel, everyone else was all washed up and ready to catch up on their sleep except elliot. he seemed to be vibrating with energy and sunghoon was his current target. he blinked blearily at elliot as he stumbled at the impact of his bandmate into his arms, wrapping his arms around him to steady himself and tucking his face into elliots neck.
“ice cream?” he whined back, nuzzling his nose into the others’ skin. “i’ll go if you buy for me, hyung.” sunghoon pulled away from the other and batted his eyelashes at him, using his cuteness combined with his sleepiness to try and persuade the other. “or we can take hannie-hyung’s wallet!”
liking his new plan, noah spins back around to face you. he makes the few steps needed to end up beside you by shuffling his feet against the floor. despite his close proximity, he refuses to make eye contact. only after a few seconds of silence does he slightly lean over and clear his throat before starting to speak. “you’re in some sort of group, right? you have that look to you, which i don’t mean in a bad way, or anything. you just look like you spend more time in the makeup chair than you do performing.” or was your beauty natural? either way, with a face like that, there was no way that you weren’t an idol. noah was almost in awe of your aura, which was maybe part of the reason why he couldn’t look at you straight on. “so, if you’re an idol, than you probably know a lot of girl idols, right?” he raises his eyebrows. “you know, i haven’t gotten the chance to talk to many of them by myself. it’s always just in passing at shows like this when we’re supposed to introduce ourselves. but you’re friends with a lot of them, aren’t you? you’d be a real pal if you, i don’t know, passed along some of their numbers.”
starter for @sunghoonws
he tried really hard to not pay attention to the way he was being stared at, focusing on his phone while still looking out of the corner of his eye to see if eyes were still on him. and every time he looked, they were. god, it was so weird. sunghoon didn’t even know this guy... why was he staring?! did he look weird? did the other guy know him? what was happening? he was on his phone texting his friend bomin, ‘this guy keeps staring at me... i don’t know what to do, it’s freaking me out!’.
when sunghoon noticed movement out of the corner of his eye, he froze up. oh my god, he was coming over... he was holding his phone so hard in his grip that his knuckles were turning white, and his heart was beating in his chest with the nerves that were eating at him. when the other stops near him, sunghoon finally turns his attention to the other with wide, cautious eyes.
“uh... yeah, i am in a group.” what did that even mean? spend more time in a makeup chair? kinda insulting but okay. sunghoon’s brows furrowed a moment as he listened to the other. “you want... female idol numbers.” he blinked a moment as he processed. “i don’t even know your name, buddy...” sunghoon laughed a moment in disbelief. this was crazy! wait until bomin heard about this.
“you’re just gonna walk up to a stranger and ask for digits?” the confidence... that’s wild.
“There’s something else bothering you, I know how that head of yours works.”
he'd thought he'd been hiding everything well enough, keeping the smile on his face and making jokes here and there. it wasn't anything serious that was bothering him, not really, just silly little naggings inside of his brain that was eating away at him. same stuff, different day, he supposed. sunghoon was thankful that either his members didn't notice or didn't push him to talk about it, and he was able to get through most of his day without being pressured to talk about what was eating him away on the inside.
but when he had gathered with some of his friends for a little meal get together, he was squished between bitna and kyungah while the kalguksu breathed warm steam into his face. bitna was distracted talking to another member of their little party, but kyungah was beside him and didn't have anyone else to distract her. sunghoon had been poking at his noodles for a moment, making it look like he was trying to find a specific piece of food in the broth, but really he was lost in his mind until his friends voice cut through.
"you're crazy, noona." he shook his head, looking around to see if any of the others were listening in, and thankfully they weren't. "i'm just thinking about more chicken." sunghoon lied easily enough, giving kyungah a smile as he realized now was the time to act like he was focused on eating again, taking a bite of his noodles.
the voice was sudden enough to startle him, sunghoon looking up from his phone with wide eyes. the game on his phone continued idly as he blinked up at angel. "w-what?" he stuttered out, wanting to be sure that he had actually heard the other correctly. not that it was such a surprise to have angel speak to him, they'd spoken before, of course! sunghoon was just distracted with his game, surely. well, that and it was intimidating to have angel want to take a walk with him.
what did that even mean? just a walk? what kind of walk? where would they go? what would they do? were they going to talk? what were they going to talk about? had sunghoon done something wrong? had he done something right? was angel going to say something nice to him? something mean? traumatizing? was sunghoon going to cry? was he going to make a fool of himself? well, that certainly had to have already happened. it'd been nearly two full minutes of silence with him just staring at angel before he finally blinked.

even though he didn’t voice it often, han was glad most of the members of blue.m were as physically affectionate as they were. he honestly didn’t know what he’d do if he didn’t constantly have sunghoon or minho clinging to his side, giving as much comfort to the leader as he provided for them.
wrapping his arms around sunghoon, he sagged slightly under the other’s touch. he’d only meant to step out for a second, to return before the younger woke up but he’d gotten so wrapped up that he’d barely noticed the sun rising. “i didn’t want to wake you up with all my tossing and turning, i’m sorry.” he spoke softly, running a hand through sunghoon’s hair gently. “i was going to come back before you woke up, but i didn’t notice the time.”
at the question, han bit the inside of his cheek a little harder than necessary. the last thing he wanted was to worry anyone, especially sunghoon. “you worry too much, sung-ah.” he dismissed with a quiet laugh, though it was just to avoid the question. in truth, han had been barely sleeping over the past few days, and he was sure his dark circles were giving him away.
sunghoon’s nose couldn’t hold back the wrinkle it took on when haneul mentioned the reasons for leaving. “i sleep like a rock, hyungie, you wouldn’t have woken me up.” he could sleep anytime, anywhere... but he did understand why han decided it was best to go to something else. still, he was going to pout about it! he couldn’t be too mad about it when han’s fingers felt so good on his scalp. his eyes closed and he leaned into the touch in content.
his family had never been physically affectionate, even when he was a kid. only his paternal grandmother was affectionate towards him, and she had passed away when he was in his pre-teens. he was grateful that his members were all so open to skinship, but he did worry that he may grow addicted to it. “you don’t have to apologize, hannie-hyung.” hoon blinked at him sleepily as he continued to wake up more.
for some reason, the youngest had a hard time believing haneul when he dismissed him over his pain. the leader never really talked about it, and always said he was fine. but he worried, a lot. sunghoon was quiet for a while as he stared the other down before giving a soft nod of his head, agreeing to drop it and not continue on.
“are you hungry?” he asks suddenly, changing the subject for the sake of them both. “we should have breakfast!”
if the man looked close enough, he could probably see the girl’s eyebrow twitch in frustration at his question. what else would eliana be doing here? just hanging around backstage at an event she wasn’t invited to?
she tried her best to hide her annoyance as she replied, “yes, i actually just finished my set.” eliana trailed off, letting silence fill the room for a minute before clearing her throat. “there was actually something i wanted to talk to you about, have you seen that article about us? apparently we’re best friends!” the girl let out a small laugh.
her eyes scanned his face for any kind of reaction. she thought surely that sunghoon kept up with any gossip around him, how could an idol not? eliana decided to test the waters, and begin her proposal.
“right, so since everyone thinks we’re best friends, which is crazy because we don’t even know each other!” eliana says, tilting her head. “not that i don’t want to get to know you,” she didn’t, “i’m just so busy that i don’t have time right now, you understand don’t you?”
“anyways, since the fans seem to love our friendship, i was thinking it would just be easier for the both of us if we played along. what do you think?”
he was an idiot, of course, she was here to perform. why else would an idol with a busy schedule be at a program like this? dumbass. sunghoon winced slightly when she confirmed that she finished her set, reflecting on how dumb he sounded before he gave a small nod of his head. “oh yeah, best friends! i kept getting tagged in the article, it was hard not to see it.” he let out a laugh, shifting a bit nervously as his right hand came up to rub the back of his neck.
she went on, and for a moment his head began to spin as she spoke. what was she getting at? what was happening? “oh, no, i totally understand!” sunghoon waved his hand a little too dismissively. “being an idol is hard, there’s always a schedule going on.” like this, he wasn’t even promoting right now but he was at this program performing.
play along? he thought to himself for a while, watching her carefully as his mind went through everything. it would be interesting to have a co-ed friendship become the talk of the fans, especially between two successful (so far) idols. the fans were pretty adamant that it was a good representation that male and female idols could maintain a friendship without romantic ties. sure, they didn’t know each other barely at all, but it was good publicity and it was a cause that he wanted to advocate for.
“that sounds like a good plan.” he agreed, giving her a smile in agreeance. “how do you propose we keep it going?”
he was still jet-lagged. they had flown into america the day before to begin filming their music video in prospect park in new york city, but the time zone change was messing with his body. the night before, sunghoon had sleepily ate and went to bed in the room he was sharing with two of his other members. when haneul began to rouse them all to wake up, like the responsible leader he always was, sunghoon struggled fiercely to open his eyes.
when he was finally able to, he had rolled out of bed long enough to use the bathroom, wash his face, hands, and teeth, before he was shuffling back into the room for the next member. his eyes landed on hyunsoo hyung who was sitting on his bed still. sunghoon pouted, maknae eyes turned on with sleepiness, as he shuffled over to hyunsoo’s bed before crawling in it and cuddling his head into the others’ lap.
“hyuuuung~” he whined, voice cute and high-pitched as he wrapped his arms around hyunsoo’s leg. “hyungie, will you get me coffee?” sunghoon pouted up at the other, fluttering his lashes as cute as he could. “i’m still so sleepy.”
“it’ll help me wake up.” hoon hugged hyunsoo’s leg tighter, hoping that would convince him to say yes. ( @wshyunsoo )
it was a bit chilled out now. with the sweat from his performance having begun to cool on his skin in the breezy spring evening, it caused sunghoon to shiver just a bit. even if he was in the clothing from the stage, which included a sweater. he was outside on the patio, the rest of his group mingling around with others.
he had been feeling a little out of it after the performance, thinking over and over how his voice didn’t sound anything like it should have. it wasn’t even a hard verse to do, but sunghoon felt he didn’t do his best. it was easy for him to beat himself up about it, but he had just smiled to his members and was just as excited about the performance as they were, at least to their faces. he always felt weird expressing his insecurities to the others.
sunghoon felt another breeze brush past him and he gave a small shiver, his fingers idly stroking along the petals of one of the bright flowers that had been placed throughout the venue. around him were artists from different companies and he felt a little out of place. he was young, one of the youngest there, and he didn’t have near the success as some of the other artists that were there. thinking it was best to not sit there and mope about mistakes that were or were not made, he stood from his seat and meandered over to the table of drinks set up.
he gave a polite smile to the staff that was lingering around there and reached for one of the fruit drinks that were provided, enjoying the fresh strawberries that were inside of it. as sunghoon was taking a drink and turning around, he noticed an idol close to him that caused him to choke on the drink messily, realizing who it was.
“ah! sen-ssi!” he tried not to think about the wetness of the juice that had dripped out of his mouth onto his chin, reaching up and wiping it away quickly with a flush on his face of embarrassment. “sorry, i hope i’m not in your way...” sunghoon’s face was bright red at being so silly in front of someone so successful, as well as someone whose songs were very prominent on his own playlist at home. still, he stepped to the side, cradling his drink to his sweater. while she never grew up with silver spoons or high-end cuisine, rieon still feels slightly snobbish when it comes to the food she’s served at yuseong entertainment. if health-conscious options were all that was to be offered to her and the others, she at least hoped that a company with so much prominence would offer exquisite meals to their future talents — ensuring that their diets are diverse enough to craft beautiful physiques, and serve as a basis for a sharp mind. instead, they leave much to be desired. she’s becoming tired of consuming sad-looking leaves of lettuce decorated with some sort of mysterious dressing, and topped with often overcooked — and dramatically under-seasoned — proteins. sure, it keeps her belly full so her energy levels are consistent throughout the day, and it all comes free-of-charge as per the contract, but she still has a hard time being especially appreciative of it. nevertheless, she finds herself in tucked into the cafeteria at the end of an overwhelmingly long morning, and as she looks through the menu of meal options while in line, she sighs deeply at how unsatisfying all of them seem, and feels so 𝒕𝒆𝒎𝒑𝒕𝒆𝒅 to use some of her own money at a nearby eatery instead.
her stomach growls, and before she can turn around and change her mind, she’s met with an individual she’s definitely aware of, but has never properly met before, and when he speaks to her, she’s surprised ( and honestly flattered ) that he knows who she is. offering a convivial grin, she bows to him politely and nods her head — fighting off the grumpiness she feels due to how hungry she is. ❝ yeah, that’s me — it’s nice to meet you, ❞ she begins, her expression shifting into one of befuddlement. ❝ i honestly had no idea that any of the idols around here were even aware of who us trainees are… ❞ rieon follows that statement up with a playful smirk, then goes on. ❝ have you been keeping on eye on me ? looking forward to my début, perhaps ? ❞ she teases, nudging him lightly with her elbow; curious to see how he’ll respond.
at her words, he almost hesitated. was it odd of him to be aware of her, as well as most of the other trainees? he liked to keep an eye on everything and stay in the know of what was going on at yuseong, and that definitely meant keeping watch of the trainees. was it odd? was it creepy? either way, no going back now.
“i guess you could say that...” sunghoon gave a half-hearted one shoulder shrug at her words, trying to play it off as nonchalant. “is it so odd for idols to want to see how our trainees are doing? you’re the future of our company, after all.” he encouraged the best he could with a grin. he gestured to the shitty food in the cafeteria, nose wrinkling a bit.
“do you wanna go across the street to the ramyeon shop with me?” it was bold of him, very bold of him. but hey, seize the day, right? besides, he wasn’t quite sure how he wanted to approach this situation and maybe being in the company cafeteria wasn’t the best place for it. after all, he was going to propose trying to teach her how to better manipulate those around her. kinda shady stuff, really.
“as, uh... ha, egotistical as this sounds, i want to, uh, give you some advice.” wow, smooth.
angel wasn’t exactly sure when the first time he’d seen sunghoon, but it would be a lie to say that the idol hadn’t caught his eye. although many of the idols within yuseong were very obviously pretty, something about the maknae made him shine and, well, angel was only human, after all. it wasn’t that he’d noticed.
leaning back against the wall as he watched the idol approach, angel rolled his shoulders in an attempt to remove the stiffness from them – he’d been polite enough for the day, and if he stood up straight for another second, he was sure his back muscles would start spasming from the stress.
noticing the light flush on sunghoon’s skin, angel couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow curiously, his uneven smile making its way onto his features. “well, i’m glad you had fun. promoting would be awfully boring if it wasn’t fun, wouldn’t it?” he asked, mostly asking rhetorically as he watched the idol, not bothering to hide the way he looked the other up and down.
“oh sweetheart, no. overworking is not in my vocabulary, and i doubt it ever will be.” he explained with a smile, placing his hand over his chest as he spoke. “i’ve been busier than normal, but nothing to worry your pretty little head over.” he continued with a sigh, glancing at the door that contained his manager. “you’re on break now, aren’t you? maybe i should be the one lecturing you about overworking.”
“ha, yeah, you’re right!” sunghoon admitted softly at the words that angel spoke to him, and he instinctually brought a hand to the back of his neck and rub there awkwardly. sometimes he hated how timid he could become around people he didn’t quite know well.
for a moment, hoon felt a flutter in his chest. he wasn’t sure if it was because the other called him pretty, as casual as it was, or if it because a spark of admiration blooming inside of him over how determined and at ease the other sounded when it came to working hard towards his goal. he wished he had that kind of drive, sometimes he second guessed how he even got accepted into yuseong with his lack of ambition.
“oh, i-” his cheeks were pink again, damn it. “i’m not the best dancer, you know? it’s nice to get some practice in... even if it was just with bitna.” there he goes, confessing he was dancing with a girl group. but that didn’t necessarily mean he was doing the girl group dances, right? surely angel wouldn’t think that. “always have to be in the best condition, you know? my dancing talent doesn’t come as naturally as yours does...”
For once, the rookie was thankful for a quiet day at the dorms. The past few weeks had been nothing but go, go, go - and even the energizer bunny himself needed a chance to recharge every once in a while. For Danny, that meant floating around the dorm until he found the most optimal napping spot. After growing bored of his bed, he’d managed to try out the kitchen table, the living room floor, Han’s bed ( which he’s sure the other didn’t appreciate too much ), and after getting kicked from Sunbin and Minho’s room, he’d finally decided on the living room couch. It seemed he’d found the perfect spot… until a wild Sunghoon appeared, that is.
“Oof!” Danny lets out an exaggerated huff as if he was completely crushed under the weight of the maknae, sticking out his tongue and letting his arms dangle over the edge of the couch. “Someone help! I’m being held hostage - !”
He opens his mouth to protest ( and probably mention his double date with a food delivery app and a Netflix binge in the next few hours - ), but the look on Sunghoon’s face has him losing his resolve, shooting the other a grin. “Fiiiiiiine,” he whines back, wiggling out of the other’s grasp to roll onto the floor with a thud.
He looks up with an expectant raise of his brows. “So, what’re we doing? I’m up for anything as long as it’s not you beating me at videogames for three hours straight!”
For being the youngest and one of the smallest, Sunghoon was quite strong when he wanted to be. Particularly when he was octopus-armed around one of his members for attention, such as now, and he held tight onto Danny until the other squirmed so much he fell to the ground. Hoonie remained on the couch, peering down at him with a victorious grin.
“So you admit it? That I’ll always beat you at video games?” He raised his eyebrows with a grin, excited to hear such praise. He was pretty good at video games... maybe he should make it a career in the future.
What are they going to do? Hmm, he had an idea... “There’s a late night diner nearby. Wanna go get food?” He gave the puppy eyes, “I can get hyungie to give us money! I want kalguksu.”
