Do you ever purposely use your diaper? Or do you use it only when having an accidental wetting due to incontinence? Thanks!
Yes*, and probably more often than one would expect. I've asked many incon friends about this, and the overwhelming majority same the thing.
First, it's simply a matter of practicality most of the time. Sitting down, I have a hard time wetting by accident or on purpose. That can quickly get uncomfortable. A lot of the time, it all falls out on it's own when I stand up and move a bit, but sometimes not. My troubles stemming of nerve issues, accidents are really hard to count on. Therefore, a painful bladder when standing might need a little 'boost' or an 'immediate notice to vacate' as it were.
Second, I see little point in rushing to the bathroom in many situations. That is further cemented by the chance of damaging a diaper in the untaping/retaping process. I believe there should be some upside in wearing for need 24/7, and that is to not deal with the need to pee and find a bathroom. If I'm wearing, that's enough excitement in my life. Wearing and trying to use a bathroom is just far too much attention to pay to pee-things. I don't care to always be searching for a bathroom if I am already wearing one**.
Example: I wake up in the middle of the night with a dry diaper and a need to pee. What point is there to wake up further by standing, walking to the bathroom, turning a light on, removing a diaper, using the toilet, retaping the diaper... when I can negate all of that with a little push to get the pee out and be more comfortable and ready to return to sleep?
**important note: I hear "advice" quite often about atrophy and how practicing holding/going to the bathroom is helpful. This doesn't matter in my case at all. My issues are neurological in nature and not muscular, therefore it has no matter. It would be like trying to read a book by doing a set of bicep curls!
