Falling Star//CLOSED with @kxllerclaws
uberhero-chorus:
She was so sure he could sleep, ghost-like or not.
After a night’s worth of sleep, Wooyari had awoken a little before dawn. She was very careful about the amount of noise she was making, though. Moving aside the covers and rising as discreetly as possible. The girl hadn’t bothered to change into nightwear a few hours ago, and any hunger she might have had was not making itself known.
Gently picking up her pike- scruffed a bit from the fighting, but not stained with blood yet- she was very careful about not hitting it against anything as she tiptoed to the window and slid it open.
“… I’m sorry, but I can’t take any chances.” Wooyari murmured. “I refuse to believe she’ll want to wait until midnight. She isn’t like that… I’ll be right back.”
Jumping out of a window like this should have been extremely dangerous, but Wooyari still retained her mask. On impact, she phased through the earth as if it were the water beneath a diving board. Resurfacing, the girl took the quickest, most out of the way route to the woods, ready to face her mother hopefully for the last time.
Although his eyes were certainly closed as if he were sleeping, Charles was very much conscious. He had been like this throughout the night, listening to his surroundings. It was surprisingly peaceful for the past few hours, but he was not going to let his guard down. Deal or not, Berith could show up at any time. Perhaps she might even come to taunt her daughter. He could not allow this.
His powerful hearing alerted him to the subtle movements coming from Wooyari’s room. Cracking an eye open, he watched as the teenager left his room and went to grab her pike. Had she not been acting so secretive; he would have asked her what she was doing. Anxiety slowly rose in his chest when she approached the window and opened it. What she discreetly told him caused the man to freeze. “Wooyari, wait just a…”
Then, she did the unthinkable. She leapt from a third-story window.
“Wooyari!” Charles softly cried out, jumping off of his sofa and running over. He stared outside, searching for any signs of her, praying she was alright. Thankfully, she had rose from the concrete – her special ability was in effect. This may have been a relief, but he was not going to let her do this on her own.
Making sure no one was around, he also hopped down, defying gravity so he could land as close as he could to where he last saw the girl and pursue her. He ran at inhuman speeds towards the woods, hoping to catch up in a decent amount of time.
For a natural born swimmer, this kid could really move it when under pressure. Slinking through the town and making her way up to the woods, Wooyari didn’t seem to notice Charles calling or following after her. Perhaps the blood and adrenaline was rushing in her ears. The anger she felt towards her mother burned in her soul like a hot coal.
She made it to the designated place at a record time. Berith had hardly moved from the spot she was last seen in. The confidence she held herself with and that snarkish look on her face disgusted Wooyari.
Her first move was to take cover behind some bushes and hide. She was as quiet as possible, and thankfully Berith didn’t seem to notice. A plan must have been formed ahead of time by the schoolgirl, and she had full intent on acting it out here and now, hoping that she could end this painful battle quicker than what her mother might have had in mind. Her weapon was at rest in her hand, angled so it didn’t stick up like the tall weapon it was.
If anyone were to stop her now and give away her position, it might ruin her little plot.
