Sweet summertime is finally here! And while I wish that still meant lazy days basking myself in the sun, we college students know that really means it’s time for working and internships. But don’t worry, that doesn’t mean a lack of summer love-in fact, with an awesome...
I am all over the homepage of Ed2010.com today — something I would not have guessed would happen back when I first became familiar with the organization as a college freshman. I am incredibly proud of my interview with Diana Wang, the intern who initiated the lawsuit against Hearst Magazines (where I interned at Cosmopolitan, Town & Country, O, and Seventeen). While it’s been covered in all of the major news outlets like The New York Times and The New York Post, no one has gotten Diana to speak so openly about her experiences. Suffice it to say I’m excited to hear feedback on her responses.
A highlight: “I don’t think [editors] should get away with having their intern walk their dog everyday; that’s not right to me.”
Do you have any thoughts on the lawsuit? Should unpaid internships disappear?

Making it in the magazine industry is anything but easy—even getting your foot in the door requires sending out dozens of resumes, competing against hundreds of applicants, and hoping for at least one response. Even those who live, breath and...

ATTENTION JOURNALISM/RTV MAJORS!
On Thursday, March 28, there will be an internship fair from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. in the Pegasus Ballroom. To help you prepare your resume, cover letter, clips, etc., there will be a resume workshop THIS TUESDAY, MARCH 19, at 4 p.m. in NSC 228. If you plan on completing internships while you're at UCF, YOU DO NOT WANT TO MISS OUT ON THIS OPPORTUNITY. Publications and broadcasters from all over central Florida will be there and this is your BEST CHANCE TO GET INTERVIEWS FOR VARIOUS INTERNSHIPS. If you want to be employable when you graduate, you need to get internships. If you want to get internships, you want to go to this fair. If you want to do well at the fair, you want to go to this resume workshop.
Sign ups for interviews at the internship fair will be Monday, March 25 from 12 p.m.-1 p.m. in NSC 228. You have to be in good standing with us (or one of the other journalism clubs on campus), meaning a dues-paying member. If you haven't paid dues with us and want to be able to sign up for interviews, you CAN bring the $10 dues requirement with you to pay for your Ed2010 membership when you sign up.
If you have any further questions, send an e-mail to our secretary at:
And don't forget: after the resume workshop, be sure to come to our weekly meeting at 5 p.m. in MAP 406!
20% of your proceeds will go to us to help fund our trip to New York so we can get a first-hand look at the magazine industry by going on tours, visiting offices, etc.
Come join us! Our officers will be there if you have any questions about getting involved in Ed2010, Intersections, magazine journalism, or you just wanna hang out!
Come join us at Sus-Hi tomorrow!
Tomorrow (Thursday) from 6-10 p.m. we will be having a partial proceeds fundraiser/social at Sus-Hi, located across from UCF in the same plaza as Flippers, The Station, etc.
Check out our Facebook page to get the flyer, print it out, and bring it with you! 10% of the proceeds will go to us so we can go to New York this summer!
All of our officers will be there so if you're a current member of Ed2010 or interested in joining, we can answer any of your questions. You can also meet our other members!
It's gonna be a great time so don't miss out! Tell your friends!
IMPORTANT INFO FOR OSCAR SOCIAL TONIGHT: we just learned that the award show starts at 8:30, not at 7. We will still be there at 7 if you'd like to come join us early and watch red carpet interview coverage, however, if you'd like to join us just for the award show at 8:30, you're more than welcome to do that! We'll wait until we see all your lovely faces before we order the pizza!
Don't forget to RSVP right here!
