Religion, at its core, functions much like politics: a system to organize, influence, and control communities. The distinction between a cult and a religion often isnβt about doctrine but about scale and societal legitimacy. Faith can inspire moral reflection and guide lives, but too often it has been but too often itβs been wielded as a weapon to justify conquest, oppression, and violence. Ultimately, religion tells us more about human ambition and power than it does about gods.
