Jayce slowly sunk down as she turned to tear into his masculinity. He hit the floor with his legs around the tree. Maybe he could make some retort about his… No. Gotta play it cool, at least he was facing the other way so he could sort out his hair as he turned.
“Well hello there I erm, was just blown over by… the wind? No! Wait! The beautiful ocean!” Yip. He’d saved that one.. She did not seem like the type to get flustered by his devilish charm but he’d have to try, how else could he get out of a situation where he’d been skulking in the forest staring at her? He looked out across the ocean. He’d always had his head stuck in a machine too far to have much appreciation for nature. He couldn’t really see what people got out of it. You look, and you leave and nothing has changed, but hey, a few lies here and there make Jayce more likely to forget and mess stuff up later. Whatever. “So, what brings you to this part of the neighborhood?”
Miss Fortune smirked as her stumbled through his greeting, not believing a single word he’d said. She knew his type only spoke to impress, though none of it would even phase her. Maybe if she had been a normal girl, he would have gotten her, but she was a quite experienced woman, aside from being a pirate. Charm and charisma were just walls to cover up insecurity that she knew how to look through like they were glass.Â
“How long were you there watching me?” The read head questioned, ignoring what he’d asked.Â
“Ha! Watching?! Pfft, don’t flatter yourself honey, I was just passing by and figured I’d... crash in to a tree.” Well that was convincing. This macho man act was tough to keep up. Why couldn’t he be around other men and just shout loudly about stuff that he’d done but make them sound a thousand times more exciting. “One time I did 8 laps around Piltover without my feet even touching the floor!” Yeah. That was a malfunction with his hammer that did not end well. Maybe he could try one though. Anecdotes are supposed to be great for conversation and this one was painful enough already. “Reminds me of another time I crashed into something but that ended in the near collapse of an entire civilization!”
Now he’d have to find a way to jazz up tripping and falling on one of his lab rats. This was not a good day and the company was not making this easier, who was this girl who wasn’t even slightly phased by his manliness? How could he get out of here without making even more of a fool of himself?
