Internal documents obtained by 404 Media show that Tumblr staff compiled users' data as part of a deal with Midjourney and OpenAI.

we'd been hearing rumors about this for a bit but now its open and out there. some details from this article

it goes without saying, but if @staff goes through with this its going to be an utter shitshow and im all but certain the website will not survive it.

everyone go enable this immediately. it can be a bit hard to find because “visibility” is under blog settings instead of general settings or privacy. you have to do this individually for each separate side-blog

if you can’t find it on the app then the update probably hasn’t rolled out to you, and you’ll have to go through the web browser. what a truly wild way/time to implement this

They are already selling data to midjourney, and it's very likely your work is already being used to train their models because you have to OPT OUT of this, not opt in. Very scummy of them to roll this out unannounced.

You can disable this in the visibility settings in your blogs settings, you have to disable it manually for each blog

the second update post!!

(did some of the things a while ago but wanted to check some more things of my checklist before posting an update post (idk if this makes sense))

updated some old tags, unified (hopefully I'm using the word correctly) some tags across all blogs (ex.: *insert blog specific art tag* → # art tag)

made two new side blogs : @ineffable-sea (good omens side blog, pretty much set up, already rambling/reblogging on it, art soon) ; @buttercup-express (mcyt blog, not fully set up yet, no posts yet)

made two new (and possibly temporary) pfps for the main and main side blog, mostly because the previous pfps where basically the same thing with slightly different colours and I kept getting confused :[

time to make a pinned post with a list of tags and side blogs I guess

(+ I'll be posting some painted things I made for the side blog theme's on the side blog in a bit)

So a little update post for anyone's (especially my own) future reference

I've been brainstorming about the organization of this blog. 

besides cleaning up my tagging system, I'm planning on creating a couple new side blogs for specific fandoms (specifically mcyt and good omens for now) for anyone that only wants to follow for specific fandom content (kinda like what i did with my eddsworld blog @too-many-spiders). 

This blog will remain my main / main art blog (either for misc fandoms, original art, or reblogging art from side blogs) for people that may want to follow for me for my art. My main side blog ( @ugneet182 ) will also remain the place where I reblog things and post a random assortment of doodles and wips.

I’ll make another post (+ a pinned post with all of the new and already existing side blogs) once I sort everything out. (EDIT : note that any previous fandom related posts will remain here (won’t be reposted to the new blogs))
