The University of Idaho Library is pleased to announce that under a new agreement with Cambridge University Press (CUP), U of I affiliated authors can now publish open access articles in CUP journals free of charge. This agreement also brings full access to over 300 CUP journal titles previously unavailable to the UI community. Expanding #openaccess publishing opportunities is an essential component of the UI Library’s commitment to transforming scholarly communications by supporting and advocating for new modes and economic models of scholarly publishing. More information on open access publishing agreements with CUP and other publishers can be found here: https://www.lib.uidaho.edu/services/agreements/ #uidaho #uidaholibrary #library #librariesofinstagram #librariansofinstagram #onlineresources #publishing #cambridgeuniversitypress #authors #govandals https://www.instagram.com/p/CcfwIQxr-1s/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

According to the article, 𝘈𝘤𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘤 𝘓𝘪𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘳𝘺 𝘐𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘵 𝘰𝘯 𝘚𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘓𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘚𝘶𝘤𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴, there is evidence to suggest library usage increases student success and the overall academic experience (Brown & Malenfant, 2017). Information literacy is an important tool to learn and utilize. But without libraries, opportunities for this would be far and in between. And without librarians and library staff, it wouldn’t exist at all. This week was #NationalLibraryWeek. Celebrate by connecting with your library and the people who make it possible. 💛🖤 #uidaho #uidaholibrary #loveyourlibrary #library #librariesofinstagram #librariansofinstagram #connectwithyourlibrary #academiclife #academiclibrary #learnmore #mylibrary #investinlibraries #fundlibraries (at University of Idaho) https://www.instagram.com/p/CcGQLfrJYwH/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

National Farmworker Awareness Week (NFAW) is a week of action for students and community members to raise awareness about farmworker issues on our campuses and in our communities. UI’s College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) has made a display to raise awareness about farmworker conditions and to honor their important contributions. In addition to the display, CAMP is holding a long-sleeve shirt, hat, and glove drive! These donated items will help farmworkers protect themselves from pesticides and heat stress. There is a box in the display to drop off items. Located on the first floor of the library! #uidaho #uidaholibrary https://www.instagram.com/p/CbfbpzZrrZZ/?utm_medium=tumblr

Thursday, March 17th please join University of Idaho Special Collections librarian Robert Perret and archives manager Amy Thompson as they discuss their new book Images of Rail: Camas Prairie Railroad. The last vital section of rail to connect the eastern United States with the Pacific Northwest, the CPRR was the most reliable method of transportation for freight, people, and the postal service in this rural area, even allowing for the creation of new towns along the line. Infamously known as the "Railroad on Stilts," one subdivision alone boasts 44 bridges, many of them made from heavy timber. This event takes place at Neill Public Library Thursday, March 17th at 7:00pm. (at Neill Public Library) https://www.instagram.com/p/CbI8w3mvvxn/?utm_medium=tumblr
