Huarches! A short video presentation of my small exhibition at the MAP museum in Mexico City.

The exhibition will close on May 6th, in case anyone will be there before then.

All these upper designs are woven from a continuous weaving sequence into the sole, none on the uppers are lasted as a pre-made flat unit in the same way as modern footwear.

How many prototypes. Add a hole in the insole, change the spacing, start the weave in another hole, weave it under and then try over. Each sample is a step closer to the finish line, the last ones are the most tiring..Grading for example.

Sequence - An early prototype of the Oaxaca Huarache made with just one long 13 meter webbing!

To make up time, I made half of that production order myself! I wonder how many designers can say they spent a week making shoes in the factory? It was a wakeup call which also taught me a few things.
