It's about damn time....
Aaliyah's music is finally here to stream and is accessible to people who are wanting to check her out, BUT there are people who are not streaming out of respect for the Haughtons and that is understandable. Still giving them the same grace we've all been giving them for nearly 2 decades, but honestly I stopped a long time ago. I noticed it was more about damage control rather than Aaliyah's legacy which was literally about to slip under the radar if something wasn't quickly done. It seems like one party is blaming the other. As of yesterday, Rashad began blocking Aaliyah fans who talked about the release of Aaliyah's music and at this point, it's absolutely ridiculous how all of this is going about. The Haughtons wants the fans to suffer because they're not making any type of profit and Barry and the Haughtons have been at odds since Aaliyah left this earth. It seems like Aaliyah's legacy isn't the priority, but it's about the money and that just needs to be said instead of using "protecting Aaliyah's legacy" as a cover up because honestly, Aaliyah's immediate family hands are not clean either, but they need to be honest with themselves because blaming Barry is only going to cut it for so long. If money was the issue, they should've said something almost 20 years ago when the court split Aaliyah's estate. If they were so wanting to protect her legacy, they would've been partnering with companies and creating clothing that represented Aaliyah. Non of us like it, but Barry has always had rights to her music, so what did they think would change?? Whatever they are battling needs to stay behind the scenes because the fans should not suffer because we've been patient for damn near 2 decades.
