Toshio Saeki's 佐伯俊男彩色画集 あかいはこ(Akai Hako - red box ) is the third book of Saeki Toshio published in 1972年 by 芳賀書店 ( Hagashoten )

The publisher Haga shoten (芳 賀 書子), Renowned for publishing the works of influential authors like Nagisa Ōshima or Shūji Terayama, gives him the opportunity for his third book. Toshio Saeki create all illustrations under special conditions, his wife whom he just met is the prey of a stalker who pursues her wherever she goes. So the couple, feeling the threat become clearer from week to week hides in tsurekomi yado (kind of love hotels). It is in these hotels reserved for lovers who wish to find a shelter for discreet relationships that in two months he completed the drawings of Red Box (緋 匡, Akai Hako) his most famous book. The man will end up killing himself after having tried to kill her.

Here the original first edition printed in 1972, content 51 prints - each stretches across two pages and has a limited color palette. The book is filled with full page prints of Toshio Saeki’s odd and disturbing eroguro images.

First Edition softcover with slipcase. Japanese language. Size:26×34cm. Total 110pages in color.

Condition : The red sleeve has color loss and wear especially on edges also. Book cover has on small damages with some minor dust/dirt marks on the jacket. Book interior quite clean.
