here are all the illustrations i made for my submission to the @gfnonfictionzine ! this was such a fun and unique experience. i had a blast really digging into a character i don't typically focus on and centering the story around his world view.

Okay, so, truthfully--Sera is very much inspired by my cat.

Which is to say that Sera--like my sophia--is a very silly and chaotic creature but also very affectionate. Sera has all the intelligence one would expect from a dragon, she's just also a bit of a menace. Generally intrigued by people but she doesn't neccearily like all people. That being said, she adores Ashni. Sera is very young, Ashni got her as a hatchling (a gift from her brother). So she very much views Ashni as a kind of mother but also functions a bit like an accomplice. She pushes at Ashni's chaotic side and they have a lot of fun together. She's also very attached to Tara who she also treats like a mother. Granted, Tara also indulges in Ashni's chaotic side because she views her as more generally responsible and will therefore engage in a bit of chaos. Point being, Sera and Ashni are together very much a dynaimc duo. Sera brings out a lot of playfulness that Ashni did not get to engage in as a child.
