Random Starters Feel free to change pronouns/wording! “You’re looking awfully happy today, who did you kill?” “I almost came to your house drunk at 3am yesterday, you can thank me I didn’t.” “Is knocking a thing of the past? Last I checked, you don’t just let yourself in.” “I don’t hate you, that requires even a shred of care.” “You look all dressed up, meeting someone important?” “If you come near me again, I’ll make sure it’s your final defiance.” “Get out. Just get out.” “Fuck you.” “Do you know how far I had to run to get here? You owe me an explanation.” “Well, aren’t we friendly?” “Lay off it, will you?” “I don’t have to explain myself to you, or anyone. Now leave.” “I’m uh- kind of bleeding over here, mind helping me?” “Did you honestly think I wouldn’t find out?” “I didn’t know you cared for her/him/them so much.” “Stop, you’re making everything worse.” “I wouldn’t be laughing so hard if you didn’t make a right fool of yourself.” “And there you go again, lying.” “I didn’t think I’d see you here.” “Calm down, I’m not here to hurt you.” “I love her/him/them. I’m sorry.” “How about you fuck off?” “Can we… forget I said that?” “Why would you say that?” “Did you think it would all just work out? Did you think I’d be all forgiving? Well I’m not, and I think deep down you knew that.” “Fine, just throw me away, like you did all the others before me.” “All right, own up. Who touched my chocolate.” “Do you think this is stupid? Never mind, you always see the negative.” “Put that down before you hurt yourself.” “Get on with it then.” “You look nervous.” “Did you hurt him/her/them?”

ulvesi:
“Then, perhaps you would be able to assist me?” Ulvesi had a bright idea. Sure, she could try and use Lord Drelos to get out into Solstheim again, but that would only really benefit her (which she was fine with of course). However, if he was truly here to help Raven Rock, then it would be no loss to tell him of her plan. She plowed onward, not waiting for a reply.
“As you most likely already know, Raven Rock relied entirely on the ebony mine for its wealth. No one considered that it would dry up, and therefore no contingency plan or anything of the like was created in case such a situation occurred. Though the mine is closed, everyone still seems to believe that it is the only possible source of income for this town.”
“I want to change that. I want to create a new industry here that Raven Rock can become know for. And that is alcohol. Geldis, he’s the landlord of the Retching Netch, has already successfully created his own sujamma.” She paused for breath.
“If the Nords of Thirsk Mead Hall can make their own booze on this island in this climate, then so can we. But we’ll go further, and make a name for ourselves. We have the tools to start off with, now we need support.” Passion trickled into her voice. She truly believed that she could get people behind this, turn miners into farmers, and create a new thriving industry. She cared too much for this town to let it fester as it was. And if no one else was going to try and change it, to fix it, to help it, then she would.
“If Raven Rock were to accomplish such as thing, then the Council would not have to worry so much about us, and perhaps one day we would be able to contribute to House Redoran again.”
“So, would you be able to help?” she asked.
Drelethyn had to admit he was impressed. Not aloud, of course, but nonetheless. Diversifying Raven Rock’s economy was something that the frontier town both needed and was failing to do. Alcohol was a fairly safe bet too, given that it was something that never went out of demand. And, having tasted it himself, Drelethyn was sure that if Geldis managed to export his sujamma to Blacklight it’d be highly popular, alongside whatever brew Ulvesi sought to make.
Besides, with how scarce Morvayn told him resource distribution was, she was right to think that Raven Rock being able to provide for itself through trade would be a boon to the Council. Given that she’d be able to pull this off without needing more resources from the Council. That was going to be the difficult part.
“Well, I’m not a farmer, nor am I an alchemist,” he said finally, crossing his arms. “So while I support you, I’m not entirely sure how I can help beyond talking to people-” he glanced briefly at the Bulwark “-or getting you out beyond the wall, which is what I’m going to guess is your angle here.”
Ulvesi followed his gaze and smiled. Getting out was enough for now.
“If you would be so kind as to enable me to venture out into Solstheim once more, I would be truly grateful. I require all the opportunities I can get to gather the resources necessary to create a proof of concept. I fear that without one, Councilor Morvayn will not take my idea seriously.”
It was in situations like this that she felt her age more keenly. No one had supported her idea, dismissing it as youthful eagerness coupled with ignorance. Even with Geldis’ success, no one was enthused about something new or different. Yes, her plan was ambitious, to create alcohol from start to end. from growing the plants to even making the bottles needed (the bottle making was a recent idea, but she could work with it).
Something new was what Raven Rock needed, and gods be damned if she ever considered giving up.

ulvesi:
The improper greeting was not lost on Ulvesi, however she knew better than to say anything to someone of his stature. She simply nodded as she accepted his explanation. For now.
Safe travel beyond the Bulwark? Now that caught her attention. Maybe if she was nice to this House Cousin and minded her manners perhaps, just perhaps, she might be able to get out beyond the Bulwark again, her mother be damned.
Her attitude changed.
“It is an honour to meet you, muthsera. It is… unusual for someone such as yourself to visit Raven Rock. Many believe we have been forgotten by the rest of the House, if I may be so bold as to say.” Was that nice enough? She thought it was nice enough.
“Is there anything else that I might be able to assist you with?”
Her change in demeanor didn’t escape his notice, as she suddenly became much more cordial and less abrasive than she was a moment before. Either it was due to his falsified stature (not honest though not entirely false, either) or she wanted something from him.
He suspected it was the latter, but also suspected that her motivations weren’t malicious, so he’ll play along. For now.
“Forgotten, huh? Well, hopefully my presence here will convince you all otherwise. It just took a while to get proper aid out here with how thin-spread the House has become. They’ve sent me all over Morrowind for various reasons. Likelihood has it that once I’ve settled matters here I’ll be immediately relocated again.”
A load of half-truths, that one. Much of it was simply him repeating what Morvayn had told him; that House Redoran had been spread too thin to grant Raven Rock the crisis aid that they’ve requested, that Raven Rock was only one of seventy-something settlements that Redoran had found themselves in charge of maintaining and supplying with safety and security. Drelethyn had scoffed at that. The Council was becoming sloppy, best intentions aside.
But House Redoran hadn’t sent aid. Drelethyn had come to this lonely island on an impulsive whim and of his own accord. But while he was here, he did intend to make good on his word and help.
“I don’t think so, at the moment. This should do the trick.” He prodded once more at the wound; it was sore, but steadily healing, the skin stitching itself back together nicely.
“Then, perhaps you would be able to assist me?” Ulvesi had a bright idea. Sure, she could try and use Lord Drelos to get out into Solstheim again, but that would only really benefit her (which she was fine with of course). Mephala, Boethiah and Azura shrines in Raven Rock Temple
The Dunmeri idiom “to speak with an ashless voice” (namara ot dahrdid) was originally a pejorative for outlander Dunmer born and raised outside of Morrowind. As the term suggests, they are easily differentiated from native-born Dunmer as their voices lack the gravelly, grating tone of their compatriots who lived their entire lives inhaling Red Mountain’s choking ash.
In recent years, the expression has expanded to include the younger generations of Dunmer born decades or even centuries after the Red Year, living on Morrowind’s peripheries and seemingly unable to connect with the arduous struggles endured by their forefathers.

Finally success. Of a sort. The last plant has buds on it. Buds!
It is now twice the size that it was (I must remember to measure it properly once I get out of jail, though the break from work has been nice) and at last count, had five buds. So very exciting!
Hopefully I will have berries soon. I won’t make anything from them, but keep them for seeds. Might give some of the older folk a couple, to see if they taste similar to those that they remember from the mainland.
House Redoran
Where we all act like pious goody two-shoes to cover up the fact that we’re all major fuck-ups.
Redoran Sword Forms
Muhrhag sey - Path of the Newborn
A one-handed technique that focuses on rhythm and mobility; often taught as a beginner’s form, hence the name. One of the most basic sword forms.
Ata sey - Path of the Father
The advanced version of the muhrhag sey; similar in theory, but far more complex in execution. The oldest of the sword forms, it serves as a foundation for all other forms to be built upon. This form is to be mastered before any others are attempted.
Ara sey - Path of Ash
A whirling technique that focuses on speed; constant motion and mobility is the key to the ara sey. Favored by those who prefer shorter blades.
Gahduhnag sey - Path of the Pilgrim
A technique in which the sword is held with two hands and raised up near the head. Focuses on paced movements, precision, and saving stamina. A slow form that is intended to wear down the opponent before dealing a single, quick, fatal blow.
Gahkhosahn sey - Path of the Exodus
The most complicated of the Redoran sword forms. Favored by the high-ranking members of the House as both a show of merit and of capability. Known for its complex footwork, precision, flexibility, and rapid fatal blows. Focuses on the sword as an extension of the will and body, with the intention of the blade becoming as familiar in presence to the wielder as their own arm. Executed properly, the gahkhosahn sey resembles a dance.
Molag sey - Path of Fire
A one-handed technique that focuses on the balance between the blade and the wielding of magic in the free hand. Essentially a culmination of the other forms, tweaked to serve the use of a spellsword. Recently developed, this form doesn’t become prevalent until late in the Fourth Era.

ulvesi:
Her head snapped up at the sound of his voice. It was the stranger she had meet a couple of times outside the Bulwark, before she’d been restricted, for lack of a politer term, to the confines of Raven Rock. She was finally able to get a decent look at him. Slightly taller than her, older, and a visage that she could appreciate.
And he was wounded. That meant he’d been allowed beyond the Bulwark.
She was so jealous and it showed. Her eyes narrowed. It was not that she disliked him personally, but it was his arrival that had heralded the end of her ventures outside of Raven Rock. And he got to leave whenever he wanted. Life was so unfair sometimes. She could almost hate him for it.
“You’re in luck. I do have a weak healing potion here, if only because the quality of the ingredients was…lacking,” she said as she rummaged in a basket. “Ah, here it is.”
The pink bottle was placed on a table with some water and a clean cloth in case he wanted to clean the wound while she examined the spawn ash. How interesting it was, that these were remains of a creature like the one that had killed her father.
“Yes, this is quite acceptable payment. If you wish to barter further, I’m sure Milore would appreciate any ingredients you can get your hands on.“ She carefully wrapped up the last ingredient she’d measured out and then tucked both that and the spawn ash away safely before standing.
“Well then, now that business is out of the way, let me introduce myself. I am Ulvesi Balur, apprentice alchemist, daughter of Volene and Adil Balur of the Redoran Guard,” she stated formally, struggling to keep her ambivalence in check. However she could not help but be a little sarcastic as she asked his name.
“May I have the pleasure of learning the name of the brave adventurer allowed out beyond the safety of the Bulwark?”
Ulvesi’s silent animosity wasn’t lost on Drelethyn, but unknowing of her reasons for it, he let it pass, both assuming she was merely unfriendly by nature and not particularly caring enough to think more on the matter.
He accepted the potion with a grunted thanks, not hesitating to break the wax seal and quickly drink the entire flask. Near-immediately, he felt the pain in his shoulder recede, the flesh uncomfortably warm as it began to stitch itself together once more.
There was that bitter tone in her voice again. Hmm.
“Lord Drelos Romoran, House Cousin of Redoran,” he replied, foregoing full, proper introduction with the hope that the weight of his falsified status would either distract her from noticing or prevent her from being suspicious in the least. It worked, usually. “I was sent here from Blacklight on behalf of the Council to aid Councilor Morvayn with the ash spawn problem and any other outlying difficulties. I am here with the intention of making it so that safe travel beyond the Bulwark is possible.”
The improper greeting was not lost on Ulvesi, however she knew better than to say anything to someone of his stature. She simply nodded as she accepted his explanation. For now.

Disaster! Two of the comberry plants have died!
I am unsure as to the cause of their demise as their care was no different to the third, which luckily, appears to be tougher and is hanging on by a thread.
They do not appear to have been eaten, by animals or bugs. And the compost I used was no different than normal.
Nor does it smell different than normal. Twice now, I’ve caught people relieving themselves on my plants! It’s not like I’m trying to revitalise Raven Rock with a new industry or anything important like that, with some very hard to get plants.
Sometimes I don’t know why I even try.
Also I have been ‘reliably’ informed by one of the older merfolk that my last comberry plant looks nothing like those of his youth. Ugh, I’ve heard enough stories about his ‘fertile shores of the Ascadian Isles’ to last me a lifetime.
However, his comment did make me wonder if these were indeed comberry plants, and that this environment had altered their appearance in terms of stunted growth and smaller leaves? Or if my sole plant left was something else?
A question for another day.
If anyone else tries to pee on my plants again, I’m burning their dick off.
