This is why being accepting towards harmful paraphillas or harmful people is dangerous.

You may say "But I don't condone harmful paraphillas! I'm just x's friend, i don't judge!" you are missing the point.. being friends with a zoophile even if you don't condone their actions can be seen as accepting their actions instead of calling it out and encouraging them to seek a therapist.

Even if the person is noncontact doesn't mean they can't become contact..

Putting this here because of the proshippers and of course, the pro-harmful paraphiles interacting with this post and pretty much being upset with the idea that I have a different opinion.

I do not have an issue with people wanting to give their side on somethings however, I have clearly state on my profile that I do not want proshippers or harmful paraphiles to interact with me, which includes this post.

If you want to share an opinion then just screenshot the post but don't tag me thanks, if I block you it's either because you are rude and/or you support proshipping and harmful paras.

I had to block a bunch of these people, which include one who decided to call ME a paraphile in the tags (as well as them being proship) and another person was blocked for being a proship too and seemingly support harmful paras.. I have clearly stated in the post that I don't have anything wrong with people who support paras, I only have issues with those who support harmful ones and glorify said harmful paras instead of encouraging them to seek therapy or help.

So yeah tldr: you are valid to your own opinion but please do not interact with me, respect my boundaries thanks <3 !!! /nbr

I'm against people romanticizing/sexualizing/glorification of dark topics in media. And treating it cutely.

As a society (generally) we have decided to move towards making each other happy. We have moved away from humor that seeks to offend certain groups. We have moved towards an environment of inclusivity. And that is wonderful. There are teens now roughly 16 and younger who were raised with this new mindset being developed. We call each other out when something problematic is being done on a personal or grander scale. This is all excellent and I am very glad there are kids who won’t have grown up in such hostile and aggressive social environments.

But there is a massive issue of people digging into each other’s pasts and calling out problematic things they said or did. And I’m not talking people who committed crimes or were actively malicious and hateful. I mean the now 25 year old who said the r-slur when they were 18 and people want them cancelled over it. I’m almost 19, that word was used every day when I was in school. I had teachers use it. My grandmother still uses it as an insult for me to this day. It is something that became like unacceptable in high school for me and I had teachers think that was weird. The f slur was used constantly as well. And one day we’ll all decide that the ‘I fucked your mom’ jokes are problematic and everyone will have to be raked over the coals for it. Just to put it into perspective why it’s so many people who are being “caught” for having used problematic language in their pasts.

Okay people making jokes that were offensive was the humor. In elementary and middle school I remember people making slave jokes, race jokes, terrorist jokes, jokes about the local immigrants, jokes about WWII. These were all jokes we heard from our parents, on the news, on tv, from our friends and parroted back. Or even jokes about Native Americans but it probably didn’t help that around Thanksgiving in preschool-4th grade they dressed us up like that and had us do what was equivalent to the running around the campfire scene from Peter Pan. I found my old art folder and I still have a glittery dream catcher and painted corn we made because the teachers had us do that. Yes it was that bad.

So what really matters right now is not did that person ever say or do something problematic?

What matters is does that person still say or do problematic things? Will this person listen to me when I tell them it’s problematic? Is this person willing to phase a word out of their vocabulary because it’s harmful? Does this person still hold onto beliefs that are harmful or have they learned and grown? If they’ve apologized or not have we seen that they are no longer the person they were before?

Because the goal has never and should never be, being unproblematic and well informed and educated since birth. It should be encouraging and fostering an environment for growth. No one is going to change their political or even just social beliefs if you want to crucify them as a bad person. This also is not to invalidate anyones hurt over something if someone said or did something that hurt you, you are valid in those feelings. But no one gets anywhere if we’re stuck living in the past.

I’ve been thinking about this for awhile and it’s we have something so good here to build towards a better future. So why are we microscopically assessing peoples pasts?
